      I don't understand why the community still keeps flaming Monjang, they seem to forget that Mojang is not the boss any more, they are employees of the profit policies Microsoft has in mind. MS is the boss since Notch sold MJ. So if people are angry think it's Microsoft to blame, they want to profit off the game because they paid a lot. Mojang just receives instructions and they have to comply.

    I'm a bit skeptical of this. On one hand, it's great for vanilla players because they just update whenever they can and get a free stream of new features with this change. On the other, we have two major downsides: The first is that it's bad for modders because it means they have to update their mods for new versions more often. Some modders may be very disheartened with this. Second, it means that they might not spend enough time debugging the updates, which could lead to badly optimized or buggy new features.
    Of course, this depends on if the updates are feature updates or just patches. If it's patches then it could not be that big of a deal. If it's small feature updates, that could prove problematic.

    Chunk loading has been really terrible on server or client performance in forever. Explore a bit too fast and it starts falling apart. I hope they make optimizations towards that, so that those who need it - gain performance and those who like visual fidelity - are able to push the boundaries

    Honestly, I like Minecraft but I barely play it because there are changes in the last updates that make the game not fun to play anymore (for me).
    I feel like Minecraft departed from it's essence at some point, to me Minecraft is a game about exploration, discovery and player freedom, but with each update Mojang makes systems and changes that funnel the player into an specific way of playing the game.
    I'm not a fan of "make your own fun" in videogames, I prefer it when the devs have something to show and tell about their game. Minecraft does have a goal (kill Elder Dragon) but the current progression is extremely restrictive in terms of player freedom, which is bad because I like player freedom in videogames!
    In an awful update Mojang decided to kill librarians because they were too convenient, people use librarians because they are straight up better than enchanting tables (why can't we craft specific enchantments at the ENCHANTING table?), librarians were the solution to the RNG Fest the table is, and I despise RNG progression in my games. Mojang WANTS you to use the enchanting table NO ONE wants to use, they are not addressing the problem, they are removing the solution so you have to interact with a bad mechanic most people hate.
    Instead Mojang expects you to move villagers around and build villages for them in different biomes, unfortunately, there is no way to do this in the game, it just doesn't exist, you can't just interact with a villager and ask them to follow you (this would be convenient), you have to abuse beds, work stations or boats, this is not a mechanic per se, this is abusing the AI to make them behave a certain way, in this case, to make them to "follow" you. So once again Mojang wants to force players into doing something extremely specific you CAN'T do NATURALLY in the game without abusing the AI, using boats (a nightmare) or minecarts (logistical nightmare).
    There is no way to progress in Minecraft without doing something extremely specific in the Nether which is obtain Blaze Rods, this is Mojang once again forcing you down a path you must follow if you want to have any hope of progression (potions, eyes, etc).
    And here I'm wondering, if Minecraft "is" about exploration, discovery and player freedom, how come the game is this optimized? How come there is only one way to progress? Why can't we have alternatives in the OVERWORLD? I'm personally extremely tired of doing the exact same thing every time our server resets, I want Mojang to give choices, alternatives and different progression paths, you can't have an exploration game have only ONE progression path.
    I know this will never happen because I know Mojang doesn't even know what to do with Minecraft, so the next best thing is turn Minecraft into a modding playground for modders to make games using Minecraft as a base (like Bethesda's Creation engine, but on steroids).
    If Mojang can't develop Minecraft, just give tools to the community to make games with Minecraft (easier than it is now), unify the modding community so people doesn't have to deal with 9000 different dependencies, launchers, mods and whatever, make play modded Minecraft as painless and as simple as humanly possible.

      Aye, starbound makes modding ez and is a supr complex 2d game, AMANY games have a built in modloader to make modders lives easier. Mojang has to watch it cause there is a niche of good competition in the works tween 4j and not so well known game that takes quite a few mods' ideas and runs with em. hell bugthesda of all companies casually drop tools to help or hell heres one thats more home since microshaft also own em, HALO MCC has official modding tools and fun small communities around em.

    • @StarchyDuke
      @StarchyDuke  День тому +3

      First off thanks so much that you put so much effort into writing this comment.
      Now about what your saying, there's a lot of truth to what you've mentioned and I can honestly agree with most of it. Modding right now is a uncontrolled hassle that is really unoptimized for any creatives to use, or more accurately attempt to use because it has gone ignored by Mojang for most of Minecraft's existence.
      Mojang's main argument to this and the lack of varying progression that you also mentioned, has been that they want to make the game as good message provoking as possible. Which basically means that they use this excuse of needing to set a good example to hide behind as a means to avoid dealing with the actual problems the community brings up. When they are saying that, for example we don't want to add a shark because they are endangered animals they are really saying we don't want a random twitter user to complain about the apparent inhumanity of representing a dying species of animal in the worlds most wide spread game. And since they bring up faulty logic like this all the time to defend why they won't change the game it entrenches the company into the mindset of do as little as possible and make up the rest.
      This cycle of random excuses has been Mojang's tool to use whenever their in hot waters and I'm pretty sick of it, so that's why I was excited about these new changes at Mojang that they announced, because though their very far from fixing everything they are still attempting to make a change and not become totally complacent which is only really an upside.

      I think that could end up being nice but the problem is that it's very painful to install mods (even though with this change you would only have to download them once every so often). There's also the fact that a majority of Minecrafters are vary young or don't really know how getting mods works. That would mean that the majority of their demographic would take all the bad portions of this tradeoff without any of the benefits and as a company that's just not sustainable.

    It will bring more regular updates, (not so interesting ones, ultimately that won't be enough to bring people to play the game) but the same amount or maybe a little bit more of content.

      I actually really agree with what your saying Minecraft has been in a bit of a lull right now with keeping things consistent and has been falling behind other games in update size and frequency, and I don't really know if this came across in the video but I'm not trying to say that there's a lot more content that this article confirms. I just see it as more of perspective shift on making the game better in a new way, and buy doing so Mojang's showing that their willing to change their way of doing things and eventually hopefully bring more content too the game as a result. Basically Mojang's showing by spreading updates out more they are ready to receive more feedback far easier and by doing so will be pushed to add more in each of these smaller updates.

      @@Platinumdose420 I think it's fair that people like yourself enjoy the current update rhythm as well as mob vote style, but it's also true that many in the Minecraft community dislike how this is run, you can look almost anywhere on the UA-cam space and find people who are genuinely angry about how the mob vote is handled as well as the yearly large updates the game receives. I love this game too and so do most of the people who disagree with Mojang right now. It's also honestly fair that people want to push the company that's in charge of the largest game ever so that the update cycle doesn't start to feel stale and more corporatized (I.e., less creative). If there wasn't demands for more content then you're probably right we would be lucky to have updates at all, but there is that demand to make the game better and as a result it's fair to disagree with Mojang. We all want Minecraft to be the best game it can possible be and for that Mojang needs to see both sides of complements and criticisms.

    • @snowydeath1778
      @snowydeath1778 2 дні тому +8

      The mob votes have been rigged by larger content creators to troll the community twice now so there was never a real choice, also, they do not update the game monthly, they release snapshots, which are completely different. They used to release updates more frequently before launch. This game is far from "the MOST user friendly and user collaborative game" in general because they do not truly listen to the community. Also the argument "Let's be happy they are updating the game still"??? They make hundreds of millions a year on merch and stuff so no, we don't need to be happy, they need to update it to keep raking in the cash lol. There are lots of other things wrong with what you're saying but I'll leave you with this. There is a reason they're changing the way their company operates.
