Hmmmm… I find it hard to agree but hard to disagree with this take simultaneously😂 idk why people are really surprised by it though, poppy is a bit shit I can’t lie, but ultimately the song slaps hard
and its ok, they can yell to each other all they want cuz nobody else cares, knowing young girls they probably all think they're dating and thats even worse than a collab not featuring their favorite singer to them... lolol
You need to hear the live version of this because Noah and Poppy performing this together is INCREDIBLE!! His growls add another layer to this song that is just 🤌
Bad Omens is currently touring in europe with poppy and I saw one of their recent shows, and V.A.N was so awesome! Poppy has a great voice and this song hits live really hard
@breadsandwich336 another great example of that is Electric Callboy with Conquer Divide! Initially their song was just recorded but they did a whole tour together back in september and they would perform the song together. It was a great moment of the show ^^
I LOVE this track. It's brilliant and different and shows evolution which is what all bands should do. Noah produced it, so he is involved, but imo it's about the band being shown as more than just the front man. Noah is still very very present in the song, but his 'absence' makes us look at the song itself more. Bad omens constantly challenge what it means to be in the metal genre and I'm here for it. Poppy is fantastic and needs to be recognised for it. Big love for this song
Explained beautifully! I loooove this song. And the live version where Noah is doing the screams is great too! I like that this fully sounds like a bad omens sing BECAUSE OF THE BAND and Noah producing. A band is a group not one person. People can love the frontman of a band all they want but they should appreciate the band as a whole too.
Johnny was definitely right with the "tik tok crowd" thing, i think most of these shittalkers are just entitled tiktokkers who only listen to Just pretend, and they wanted more of that and now that they didn't get their candy, they are being hysteric.
Fully agree, it's most like these people who invaded his and the band's privacy. It's pathetic and just sad that the band felt the need to do so to protect themselves, with good reason I don't blame them, I would have done the same. Hopefully these pretender fans get bored and move on to their next parasocial relationship.
I was disappointed at first when I realized there were none of Noah's vocals, but the song has def grown on me. This still sounds like Bad Omens. If people havent figured it out yet. These guys love to experiment. The people saying this isn't Bad Omens due to the lack of Noah's vocals on this song....#1 you act like all the songs are going to be this way. #2 That is such a slap in the face to Jolly, Nicholas and Nick. All are freaking SICK at their craft and can play the shit out of their instruments. Between some of the fans of BO and also the incident with Sleep Token. People need to get a freaking grip! They aren't here to write what you want to hear. As a musician you write what you feel and for yourself. A form of expression. These guys can write what they want for them and pump out great songs at the same time. Lucky for us! Stop being so critical and enjoy the music! As Always....loved the reaction Nath and Johnny!
Well said indeed! On first listen I was like "eeehhhhh idk" My ear holes weren't liking how high Poppys voice is, but on 2nd listen and onward, I absolutely love it! And listen everyday
There is a live version of this song from Germany recorded by someone and Noah is in the background and eventually contributes to the vocals its a good recording also!!
I saw that and poppy did a great job live and it was nice to see Noah's screams supporting her in the song. It's 2 different versions and they're both great!
I’ll be honest, I didn’t know what to think of the song at first, but it grew on me the more I listened to it. I respect the fact that he removed himself from the vocals to likely make a point that the band is a group effort just like any other band. Without the talented other 3 members, they wouldn’t BE Bad Omens.
The people upset Noah isn't on this track are completely missing the point of the song, while also proving the point. Just read the lyrics, the song is talking about AI. The instrumentals sound similar to their last album, because it's an amalgamation of songs from TDOPOM. 2:35 in V.A.N is straight sampled from "Concrete Jungle." I'm convinced this song is symbolic of an "AI" generated Bad Omens song. Someone threw TDOPOM into an "AI" and then put "AI vocals" (Poppy) over top.
I had never heard of Bad Omens before this and I only knew Poppy from those weird "I'm Poppy" vids from a few years ago. I heard about 5 seconds of this song on TikTok and immediately searched it and now it's on my playlist and I listen to it over and over. I'm obsessed. It's so good.
99% of the haters are non Musicians who couldn`t do shit, even in a studio packed with every Instrument. They would just stand there and cry "I`m lost!". Same es the toxic Star Wars Fandom @ all "Experts" comming out to hate something, without having a single clue how to make it better. Poppy ROCKS! Same with the Track with Knocked Loose!
Found you through this song. Grew up on Master of puppets with a strict "Only metal" and complexity based mentality. Spread out in the 90s and I haven't really come back to metal until recently. I loved your considered opi ions and really your whole encompassing vibe. I can't say I was a fan of poppy or new Omens before, but because of this song I found myself going down a two-fold rabbit hole. Good music is anything that makes you feel something and hopefully connect with other people who feels something similar. And through that realize that we're not alone. These artists get up there and scream into the void, and sometimes if they're lucky it screams back
I watched bad omens live on sunday and monday in cologne and the live performance was absolutely awesome once again. That being said, that live version of V.A.N. with Poppy had the crowd go wild ... I guess not all bad omens fans are idiots :)
Watch the live version. Poppy does everything she does in the audio version live. Aaaaand, you'll realize that some of Noah's vocals are sprinkled in the audio version because he does it live. Just gotta pay closer attention 😉
There is a Released video from Berlin where Poppy sings this one Live with Bad Omens, Noah is doing backups and it's fucking sick! i think they will have features on this song from other bands they tour with when doing it live and i wouldn't actually mind if bad Omens made the whole next album "Bad Omens X *insert vocalist here*" throughout to really show that hey the rest of the band is Bad Omens. and since Noah is the one producing everything and doing all the Synths and FX together with Jolly he will for sure be there for the whole process.
This song has definitely grown on me. Hated it first listen but now it’s on repeat in my head. Plus the rest of the members absolutely killed it on this as usual
The people that are saying this isn't a Bad Omens song because they can't hear Noah just aren't actual Bad Omens fans. Simple as that. The fun thing is, if you blast the song loud enough you can hear Noah's growls in the background. 😁
I became a fan from the last album (not through tiktok haha just heard them from metal reactors) and i love this song, im guessing this is for a deluxe edition of their last album
You can tell the bandwagon fans have never heard the unique sound of Poppy before. This was a collab, not a feature, and some many people are getting bent over a fantastic track from the two 👏 👌
I can tell you, it sounds live almost the same. in terms of vocal switches, styles. saw them last monday. amazing show. not the biggest Poppy fan. but you got to give it to her. she gave a solid show.
Don't care what anyone says, Poppy has amazing vocals. I wish she would do a full album that is just pure metal. Check out her live performance of Spit she did in Portland to get an idea of how good her screams actually are. Same with the live performance of this song in Germany which has Noah in it BTW: ua-cam.com/video/n76Fpg1L92o/v-deo.html
This song has been stuck in my head since release - I love it so much! This is such a Bad Omens song too. If you listen to TDOPOM, this fits right in with songs like What Do You Want From Me and Artificial Suicide and stuff like that. Absolutely agree with you guys! And yes, Noah wrote, mixed and produced everything for this song so he still plays a significant role - for those complaining 😂 They've also been playing it on their current tour as Poppy is supporting 😊 I am here for this song though, it is one hell of a vibe, and I love that they're going to release a bunch of collaborations with other artists. Bring on more!
This track is awesome. The thing I find interesting is that the Spotify version is actually an extra minute longer with an extra chorus and a fade out and chug out. And then the live performance in Germany has Noah joining in at times with Poppy.
as much as I would have LOVED to hear Noah *and* Poppy on this, I respect the hell out of both Noah and the band to not feature his vocals and give it all to Poppy
This song introduced me to Poppy and I absolutely LOVE this song. I normally don’t like some women screaming but it reminds me of how Noah sang DOPOM- the angel/demon mix of soft then scream/darker. Loveeeed it! Her ‘spoken’ parts remind me of Savage Garden’s ‘I Want You’ which I absolutely loveeeed when I was a kid. I love that this song really highlighted how great the band is without Noah’s vocals. Absolutely great band and I feel like Noah really allowed his band to shine with this song- they do in all song but just particularly this one given Noah isn’t the main vocals/any vocals minus one small sentence. ❤
For one I dig the song. But also from what it all sounds like this will be on the Concrete Forever Special Edition which will be lots of remixes and collabs from what has been said so fits in perfectly
At first I was turned off by the kind of robotic vocals but then I realised it was probably intentional to go with the AI theme. It's really quite brilliant. And I love the heavy parts.
What I really appreciate in Noah is the fact that he's a really a nice and down-to-earth guy. I mean in a way how openly he talks about his fav artists, how he appreciates the talent of other singers and bands. I think this collab is a wholesome moment of appreciation for his bandmates and Poppy. Maybe he wanted to hear his own band with female vocals and she seems to be a good choice because of her scene personality of some type of android girl with sweet and clean voice and the screaming blood-lusting creature inside. he develops kinda the same concept in his bladerunner-ish lore (see artificial video with electricity running throuh his body and stuff). I believe that first reaction was just a shock of those blinded "only Noah" fans. Totally agree that the band is very vocal-oriented (let's admit that when people want you to react on their stuff first of all they want you to hear Noah's voice), but it's a good chance to break this belief and show the whole team. Now with the course of time more reasonable people gave a chance to the song and as i see it recieved the necessary amount of appreciation.
And sure, her voice is live getting through a Synth BUT imaging Bands like Skynd and stuff without that, or leave alone the distortion on the Singer of Bad Omen or Industrial at all..... Those arguments are just hate without knowelege about music to PPL who just are complayning all the time. The Tic Toc reference was on the point!
i was happy with the original song and its vibes but after seeing them perform live with Noah adding some support vocals and the odd growl it really sells the song, hopefully they release an official live version with him on it as its hard going back to this version now.
I have so much respect for bad omens for doing this. Johnny was right about the song getting so much shit early on. If these people just sit down and listen to the song for what it is instead of being offended that Noah doesn’t sing on it, they would actually realize it’s syllabically, lyrically, and instrumentally complex and extremely well written. Leave it to the internet to take something at face value.
I love this song! Even though there are no Noah vocals, you can feel it's a Bad Omens song.(There are a couple Noah screams if you listen closely). If you haven't watched them preforming this live with Poppy in Germany yet, you should check it out, it's sick!
There are a few good quality live videos floating around now on UA-cam since they’re touring together. Check out a video from their live stream in Germany. Poppy can DEFINITELY pull off the song vocally.
V.A.N. is epic! Industrial metal, EBM, techno, and her unique brand of experimental nu-metal synth pop blended perfectly. I think it is basically a Poppy track, I can't really hear Bad Omens in it too much, it is more of her electronic 4/4 sound that explodes into metal Industrial chaos. A limited edition 1000-copy vinyl press dropped today, and it is selling so fast, I'm glad I grabbed it because it will be gone in a day or two. Im hoping for remixes to come.
I have generally been impressed each time I hear music from Poppy so this was fine. Followed Nath on Spotify but can’t see that playlist, really getting into the heavy synth stuff after checking out Silent Planets new album so was hoping to find the playlist XD.
I love Poppy so I was very happy with the song. She's had this "creepy AI" vibe that fits perfectly with the theme of the song. At times her vocals reminded me of t.A.T.u. , which I really liked as a teen. It's a really good song and it's nice they did a collab together as they're touring together, it just makes sense to me. And I 100% agree, a band is not just a vocalist, it's the whole group!
Just to go with what johnny was saying, after the opening chorus thingy, the line is "isn't strange to create something that hates you?" That line immediately hit me as a shot to all of the rabid stans who get triggered so easily. You know, like Noah not being on the song, and people getting pissed.
I can say that an instrumental version of TDOPOM would have been a phenomenal album. Of course Noah’s vocals add to it, but the instrumentals and the PRODUCTION itself is on another level. Bad Omens is the band, not just the singer and that’s what people need to realize.
Jumping in here at the end. I 100% think if you were to take a track of DOPOM and take vocals off, the sound matches, the production is the same. So im super excited to have this growth from them. My bummer thought is i hate all the girlies that have jumped on the Noah train because of TT. I feel like if they were introduced to Noah at their title album they wouldnt jump so hard. I miss the depth we got from Dethrone and Blood, but understand the need for change. If people cannot support and respect the name of the band and the sound they are producing, they can leave. I personally love it and i cannot wait to see Folio kill this in future concerts!
someone said this song is what separate the "just pretend" listeners and "dethrone" listeners.
Hot take!
Best take I've heard!
Hmmmm… I find it hard to agree but hard to disagree with this take simultaneously😂 idk why people are really surprised by it though, poppy is a bit shit I can’t lie, but ultimately the song slaps hard
They literally have ONE song as hard as Dethrone…Dethrone. So do dethrone listeners listen to one song? Perhaps Artificial S too.
@@thegodofwine8228 dethrone and artificial s are easily their best songs
Fed up of people thinking bands are just their vocalists. This is a really great track and Poppy is perfect for it
The hate is from the Noah Simps
Absolutely agree
fact
and its ok, they can yell to each other all they want cuz nobody else cares, knowing young girls they probably all think they're dating and thats even worse than a collab not featuring their favorite singer to them... lolol
also have seen the dudebros hating on it, the ends of the spectrum man
Irony is I found the live version and Noah has parts in it. So…
You need to hear the live version of this because Noah and Poppy performing this together is INCREDIBLE!! His growls add another layer to this song that is just 🤌
Bad Omens is currently touring in europe with poppy and I saw one of their recent shows, and V.A.N was so awesome! Poppy has a great voice and this song hits live really hard
It just makes sense to me they'd do a collab together for the tour, I think it's really cool they did that! It must be great to see it live!
i wish more artists would collab and perform live together. it's very cool but very rare@@misscrackwood
@breadsandwich336 another great example of that is Electric Callboy with Conquer Divide! Initially their song was just recorded but they did a whole tour together back in september and they would perform the song together. It was a great moment of the show ^^
i think poppy is dating one of the band members

Agreed. I don't care if that makes me sound old.
I was disappointed at first when I realized there were none of Noah's vocals, but the song has def grown on me. This still sounds like Bad Omens. If people havent figured it out yet. I bet you came with his little part 😂
I saw that and poppy did a great job live and it was nice to see Noah's screams supporting her in the song. It's 2 different versions and they're both great!
Yessss! I saw that video and it was so good. I love how he sat in the background and gave Poppy her space to shine. They both are fucking badass. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Song is an absolute banger. A band is more than the lead singer just listen to it.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t know what to think of the song at first, but it grew on me the more I listened to it. You should check out her discography! I love her, been following almost 8 years.
Yea she does have some other good ones.. this is the best I think
They have a live version of this out already where Poppy seems to do those voice effects live too.
A fantastic song! I love both Bad Omens and Poppy. Phenomenal production! I'm addicted.
This is actually a sister song to an old Poppy Synth Pop track Time is Up.
That spot that Johnny is talking about, reminded me of the "Alkaline" video from Sleep Token, myself. :D
Poppy is soooo good live
As someone who saw Poppy live at Sydney Good Things a few years back, I can vouch for her live vocal performances going hard as hell.
It's a great song. Great production. Saw it live and it really works live
They are bringing poppy out to sing in the live version, and noah is doing "backup" vocals/screams.
Actually reminds me of Muse's Wont Stand Down (but heavier obvs)
Found you through this song. Grew up on Master of puppets with a strict "Only metal" and complexity based mentality. Spread out in the 90s and I haven't really come back to metal until recently. I was in Berlin and it was briliant 😊😊😊
I was one of the positive UA-cam comments because THE PRODUCTION THOOO 💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻
That was Noah at the end
Saying i am Nothing
As someone who isn't the biggest Bad Omens fan, this song rules
V.A.N IS AMAZING ✨✨✨
Good evening from Germany. Been waiting for your reaction to this!!! Its such a catchy banger in my opinion
This song is sick. And I think it's cool that Noah (vocally) isn't on there, and every bad comment from a salty BO fan reinforces that.
That link is so good!! Holy shit, sounds incredible live!
I’ve seen Poppy live twice since 2018 and I can’t confirm that her vocals are that layered.
Love this song, the whole Nine Inch Nails and industrial rock sound on it.
The haters are crybabies who can’t handle change
New oceans ate alaska song today called endless hollow. New vocalist too
This song has definitely grown on me.
I think this track is so good! She performed it live and hit those higher inflections which is cool. She also had a hand in directing the video.
I became a fan from the last album (not through tiktok haha just heard them from metal reactors) and i love this song, im guessing this is for a deluxe edition of their last album
Love your take on this!
This song is a vibe! I really dig it! It’s different but cool and I’m glad Bad Omens are experimenting and trying different things!
You can tell the bandwagon fans have never heard the unique sound of Poppy before. This was a collab, not a feature, and some many people are getting bent over a fantastic track from the two 👏 👌

Really cool … Cant wait to see them live next week … in Dresden
This might be the most HEALTH influenced production from them yet.

I love that bands these days are like we are guna make whatever the heck we want and stuff your genre's. Don't box people into genre's
This song has been stuck in my head since release - I love it so much! This is such a Bad Omens song too. If you listen to TDOPOM, this fits right in with songs like What Do You Want From Me and Artificial Suicide and stuff like that. Absolutely agree with you guys!

To be a fair there's an equal amount of positive comments backing them and the song. Rightfully so, cos it's great!
So good, makes me wanna go listen to more Poppy
yall be smacking the fuck out of that space bar lmao
I can't find the SynthCore playlist you guys were referring to :(
I can picture this song eventually turning into the opening song for Bad Omens, with it building up to Noah singing the following song.
For one I dig the song. But also from what it all sounds like this will be on the Concrete Forever Special Edition which will be lots of remixes and collabs from what has been said so fits in perfectly

Fkn epic song, she nails this
What I really appreciate in Noah is the fact that he's a really a nice and down-to-earth guy. great take on this!
Didn’t really enjoy first time listening, but it grows on me. And you right, you literally can imagine Noah’s vocal on this one
Definitely recommend checking this song out live where Noah does the backing vocals for it, it's sick af 🤟🏻
I love this song... slaps harder than my stepdad.

My favorite band 😍🤘🏼🔥
I have so much respect for bad omens for doing this. Johnny was right about the song getting so much shit early on. This song rips.. i think its really good..🤘🤘🤘🤘

I have generally been impressed each time I hear music from Poppy so this was fine.
Followed Nath on Spotify but can’t see that playlist, really getting into the heavy synth stuff after checking out Silent Planets new album so was hoping to find the playlist XD.
song is an absolute banger !
Thanks legends!
Big love
I personally love the song. Great lil gym banger.
I love Dethrone, and I also love this, simple as that.
Jokes on us, it’s actually Noah discovering more techniques with his voice and he’s singing not poppy
He got us good!
Unless I have become deaf as a post Noah can be heard just ahead of Poppy's last sung words, listen and tell me differently and yes Poppy rocks!!!
I'm pretty sure you're right.
Watch the Live version of this song, Noah has a BIG part in it :)
Love the song. Fuck the haters. Also love when Johnny air drums
Just to go with what johnny was saying, after the opening chorus thingy, the line is "isn't strange to create something that hates you?"
That line immediately hit me as a shot to all of the rabid stans who get triggered so easily. You know, like Noah not being on the song, and people getting pissed.
I feel like that might also be a shot at Titanic Sinclair
This song has been on repeat since it came out.... It does something to my ADHD brain
i wish bad omens would've had a verse in there at the end or something.
I think it´s a great song. There are already sick live versions from germany with great sound qualitiy. Poppy is touring with them.
This song slaps. 🖤
i love it so much.
I can say that an instrumental version of TDOPOM would have been a phenomenal album. Of course Noah’s vocals add to it, but the instrumentals and the PRODUCTION itself is on another level. Bad Omens is the band, not just the singer and that’s what people need to realize.
You should check out the live version from Germany
Got to admit, not a poppy fan, I am a bad omens fan, but this together is great
The song is a banger!
Not sure where the hate is coming from. This song is an absolute banger and has even made it on my gym playlist.
EDIT: YOU GUYS ROCK!
