This album was supposed to be a five song EP called Neon Zombie bit epitaph thought Ronnie should make an album using the other songs he also wrote so they made it an LP instead
I agree with your take on only hearing two or three of the songs before you hear the album. Many many times for me my favorite song on that album would be one that I haven't heard yet
As a vinyl collector, I don’t mind already knowing almost all the songs on the album. I like having zero skips, and I feel like that increases my likelihood of buying the album. Also, thank you for reviewing! I’m definitely loving the album!
As a record "collector" i wont buy entire albums if i only listen to a couple tracks as it's not worth the money (records are anywhere between $50-100AUD in Australia which is insane). So knowing tracks before an album release is handy for me to help determine if I'll pre-order the LP. Once i learned that some of my favorite singles from the past 4 years were all going to be on this Album, I pre-ordered the moment i could. My Popular Monster "Candlyland" vinyl arrived earlier today and it's absolutely beautiful.
Agreed, no problem whatsoever knowing the tracks beforehand because I knew I was going to love the vinyl. I kinda wish he had piled in the trio of Losing my Life, Losing my Mind and Drugs along with the 2 reimagined songs on there also, feels inevitable a deluxe will version of some sort will head our way 🤞
Prequal is the beginning of the story. Everything from Popular Monster on is after it. Ronnie decided to change things up after their last album bombed (his words). So he looked at successful artists and found they were releasing singles instead of an album. So he started focusing on doing one great song at a time. Now, after all these years and getting such a good reception, he put the full story together and in order on the album. The entire album beginning to the end is the full story of all the experiences he's been giving us over the last many years. He's quite brilliant. He did what they needed to help them be successful. Then, when it was time, he put the story together.
The album goes in this order prequel, popular monster, all my life, Ronald, voices in my head, bad guy, watch the world burn, trigger warning, zombified, no fear and last resort reimagined
if i remember correctly I swear that Ronnie said that he wouldn't be releasing anymore albums again around the time popular monster was first released so maybe that's why its taken so long, as it wasn't originally planned to be part of an album. Now I cant remember where i hear that so could very well be wrong. Either way, all of this albums songs are great so I'm not disappointed at all.
Yes, he did say that. He said he would rather focus on putting out quality music as singles rather than a bunch of so-so songs just to get an album out.
That is accurate. He recently stated that Epitaph pushed for an album after the fact because the singles were so great and did so well they knew having them in a collection would be bomb. He said doing it this way may seem weird in the here and now but years down the road it'll just stand on its own as a great album and nobody will care how and when the songs had been released.
@@ECMKAD Ah ok that makes sense. And I agree, it doesn't really matter when they were released. As a album they all work great, and anyone new finding them now what know any different anyway let alone in years to come.

Supposed to be an EP released a few years ago. Understandable to hold up and write a few more songs while the world had stopped. I've read he'd rather focus on single songs than getting a whole album out, marketing factors into that as well. I think Ronnie appreciates reactors and their reactions to his songs and videos so much he really puts out a lot of his songs with the epic videos first then the CD is more of an afterthought. So many people watch reactors to see their first time reaction to their fave bands songs for the first time. If he put the CD out then put out videos most reactors would've already heard the songs. I think having 25% of the album come out ahead of time is a good sweet spot. Definitely has that vibe. For certain aspects like the cinematic production in the Music and Ronnie's cadence in certain parts. Even parts of the video are like NF's almost exactly. Like NF's music video for leave me alone. But you act as though NF was the first and can be the only. They were both trying to portray similar things. I fail to see how anything Ronnie chose to do here discredit's his talent or rips off NF in any way. If anything it's the opposite
I'm a give me two great singles guy and then have an amazing album behind it. Easy on paper, hard to do. You're relying on that the choice of singles isnt at its peak. A modern band that still does this really well has been Resolve. But all of the songs on their albums are just genuinely good and well written. I think the other problem is the release cycle. Bands are releasing singles WAY too early. I understand why. The actual industry side of music is trash and humans these days cant pay attention to anything for more than 3 minutes. So, they have to. There are certainly other factors though...what kind of music is this? is the album meant to be played front to back? Are there certain songs on the album that really just need to be released together with corresponding interludes(IE Nothing More)? The inherent problem is that there is no 1 way to do things.
I'm sick of CGI videos, I don't know if I'm watching a music video or the 4th of Advenger. As for the song, it does not propose anything different than the last 6, they seek to achieve something more cinematic than musical.
I'm the opposite. I look forward to the next release because I know it's going to be insane. Maybe because I'm an author but I love how Ronnie uses the CGI to tell a story. Btw this is a concept album, incase you didn't notice. So obviously it's going to be cinematic. Also please change your hearing aids old man because everything after he was put on the cross is new musically!! It's not even remotely similar to the previous songs. I listened to the whole album in one sitting. I don't even glaze celebrities but that Angel scene was musically and visually satisfying!!

Way to much over thinking over analyzing. They should try just enjoying the music and video.
Unfamiliar with the point of reviewing music?
I'm sick of CGI videos, I don't know if I'm watching a music video or the 4th of Advenger.
As for the song, it does not propose anything different than the last 6, they seek to achieve something more cinematic than musical.
You sound like a hater. People like you are why he writes these songs 🤣
Tf is "the 4th of advenger"
I'm the opposite. I look forward to the next release because I know it's going to be insane. Maybe because I'm an author but I love how Ronnie uses the CGI to tell a story. Btw this is a concept album, incase you didn't notice. So obviously it's going to be cinematic. Also please change your hearing aids old man because everything after he was put on the cross is new musically!! It's not even remotely similar to the previous songs. I listened to the whole album in one sitting. I don't even glaze celebrities but that Angel scene was musically and visually satisfying!!
My reply was erased? Pathetic

As the boys described, the intense build is brilliant. But that ending, that is Ronnie all chips in and yes, unlike anything else on the album and in fact, anything I’ve heard him do. Last Resort - epic. His other 2 reimagined songs - epic. But this is something else on a much larger scale in terms of everything! #1 for me! 🤘
