- Check out my walk around on this 2021 Dutchmen Astoria Platinum 3553MBP. This Fifth Wheel had some great features but I would expect more from this brand especially at this price point.

I owned a 2010 Open Range 399BHS (40') with 5 cable-operated slides. I only broke 1 slide cable - never had any issues otherwise. Was able to change cable in the campground and never had issues afterwards. The newer systems became less reliable. The original ones were actually pretty reliable.
Thanks for sharing this. I’ve been pretty lucky with my slides but I lubricate the rubber seals for smoother operation.
With the quality of this rig, I would only buy this for the long weekend trips, maybe a couple week voyage at most. Definitely wouldn’t not full time in it. Great reviews!!

Another great review. I too was a little surprised at the price since Dutchman is sort of an entry level brand. I have owned one rv that had the cable driven slide. I never had an issue with it. They have been around a long time. Keep the videos coming and we'll keep giving the thumbs up.

Thanks bro! Sometimes it’s hard to overlook certain things and this RV needs some work.
Regarding the sewer pipe on yours, keep in mind that if you do any cold weather camping those pipes will need to be wrapped with heat tape or you could run into a freeze up situation. For me I make sure the pipes are enclosed in a heated under belly.
Great observation and something I didn’t consider. I did camp this past winter in my RV and this is something that could be an issue if you are in colder climates for sure 👍🏾

Good review, nice rv. Inside is pretty and the price is a bit high for the cable slides but that seems to be the new average.

There was a lot of skimping, and that awesome bathroom doesn't make up for it
To many quality issues for me. The grey and black water drains not cool plus I feel the drain pipes hangs to low. I did like how the couch just pulls out into a bed. The suspension definitely needs to be upgraded, along with the tires before delivery. Thanks for the review JB. Tell Mrs. JB hello and we missed her input.
Yea there are some things I can’t overlook and next time we shop for a fifth wheel, I will definitely have a better understanding of what we will do before we take delivery. Will do tell the misses I said 👋!
@@JB_WhoWork The first time is always the easiest because we don't know alot about what to look for and what we are want or should look for. I would purchase a unit built by Forest River in future because the Cardinal 3250 RL has been awesome. Even then I would definitely check it close for problems before taking it off the lot.
