    Just goes to show that the speed stats difference in horses doesn’t matter too much in this game. I remember back in single player when I was completing horseman challenge 9, I did it as Arthur so I had to go through the Pinkertons in southern west Elizabeth leading to blackwater. The horse I used was the raven black shire. Sure it took 4 tries because I kept crashing into trees and off cliffs, but the 4th try I was able to complete the challenge with the shire horse. From that day onward, I never complained about the shires speed cuz it’s not much different from say, a fox Trotter or an Arabian. So yeah, long live shire horses.

    Acceleration seems to make a difference when taking multiple turns in very quick succession. Not as scientific as cat here, but I took my Turkoman and Arabian on rides around valentine (duck in and out of the space between buildings and doing loops); it SEEMS like the Arabian is significantly better at getting up to that full gallop after taking a tight corner. This is, however, incredibly niche and context specific riding.
    Use the horse that makes you feel happy.

    • @politecat9207
      @politecat9207 Рік тому +2

      This also comes from the handling, Turks have standard and Arabians have elite, so Arabians have an easier time with tights curves and fast turns.

    • @DystrophicEvolution
      @DystrophicEvolution 6 місяців тому

      Yeah, I've noticed that I like the elite handling better than race, standard, or heavy. I can barrel through St. Denis on the Arabian with ease avoiding jaywalkers and carriages, but the Roadster (for example) with the exact speed and acceleration stats as the Arabian for testing, feels heavy and just doesn't have the nimble agility. Also, the Roadster just doesn't 'feel' as fast.
      Off topic... as far as people still thinking some special AI program affects each horse... nah. I've been bucked off all 5 different breeds I've purchased from Elite, Race, and Standard. Which is why I keep so many horses because I get so pissed when they throw me off to cats and grizzlies that I call in a replacement horse until I forgive my favorite. I actually got rid of my first Arabian thinking it was a completely sketchy f-wad and got so angry enough to ditch it, but found they're all the same because ALL the horses thereafter had the same annoying traits, so recently got another Arabian (the same by all accounts).

    Try the following: Get into the swamp when alligator hunting, shoot one while there are still others nearby and see what happens. Shire: Remains where it is, unless you parked it VERY close to an alligator. Criollo - will go nuts and run away. For me it doesn't matter what happens when I am on the horse - it matters what happens when I get OFF the horse to get the skin and put it back on my horse or run through the swamp trying to find a spot where the blasted horse will approach me so I can put the skin on.

I think handling is more important in situations where you are taking tight turns and maybe urban enviroments and denser forests or fights on horseback, i think that is where the elite handling might shine. I would be interested to see you compare the same set of horses and equipment but in some sort of slalom.

    I often read people enjoy the Shire, wich i do for the look and the heigth too. But the handling is not for me, what i also really enjoy is working horses like Dutch warmblood / appaloosa. Anything with normal to more agile turns. This is why i own Appaloosa for Gold Bars wich is white with big black dots. Such a Smooth ride to me.
    Most people i known own a throrough breed, mostly the Brindle. That's are horse i try out in story / online and i never end up like it. This is why i often say "it depends on what u want in a horse" if someone ask me for a recomandation on horsebreeds. Every Person is different in Playstyle and everyone need/ want different attributes to their Horse. That's totally fine but for everyone who think of getting a Horse in Online mode for Gold bars- get the cheaper for dollar first and max the bonding, u will see if u gonna like it and then your Gold bar's aren't wasted ♥

    • @sevnsinnz6468
      @sevnsinnz6468 4 роки тому +2

      No, it does indeed matter.Testing the horses with the same saddle setup is the only way to see the difference. There is a definitive difference between the two horses as far as speed is concerned. If you test them both at the same speed rank (6) of course they are going to have identical performances for speed. The Arabian is clearly faster when given the better saddle setup that the Shire had.
      Edit- It's hard to see the difference in handling when you are just running along the road, it shows up when traveling offroad and climbing/descending inclines of various heights.

    I have a dutch warmblood because i like how it looks. But i find i often swap back to my criollo or the norfolk roadster. That they are slightly faster does not matter. But the way they accelerate and are more responsive just makes them easier to enjoy i think. Its sort of like when you tune up a motorcykle. Its not so much extra horsepower. But improved throttle response and such is still very much worth it.

    There is definitely a difference in horse temperament. Some horses will run away in a gun fight or around predators while some are less likely or wont run as far. Some are more quick to buck you off while others are not. Some horses you can use as bullet shields while others would run as soon as they are hit.

    Every time dudes in my posses are complaining about horses I remind them that I used my free horse until like level 130. It's all about the saddle and stirrups. (then they go buy an expensive horse.)
    Also, you nailed "Nagadoches" but "stirrups" is pronounced like, "steer ups". =) Another solid vid!

    The main difference between horse's temperament in regards to throwing you off. Is how long you can wait before calming your horse, or how quickly the horse will calm down on it's own. You can see this easily by doing a shooting test. Stand your horse nearby, and shoot over top of it or nearby. Then time how long it takes for the horse to return to calm on its own. Some horse's are clearly quicker to calm than others.

    One thing you could do is have a posse leader with Trukman horse ran fast in front of you then you match speed with posse leader using Arabian horse. The Arabian will look like it’s flying because of how tiny it is

  • @Thealcani
    @Thealcani 4 роки тому +1

    seems like the next test has to be a comparison between saddles... i think it doesn't matters that much at the end over all. only the stamina use counts and that's up to saddle and mostly stirrups. For the horse i like to have a high HP one for PVE and stupid crashes so i don't have to pick it up all day. also high Stamina helps if u want to swim to islands with your Horse and don't want to worry about drowning. a better handling is only good for slow speed turns but its sometimes nice to have. so my horse to go is the Turkoman atm, handles like a race horse and its overall pretty good, for saddles i go for the special once because optics and i don't think u feel a difference to nacauglyes.
    Your wifes knows whats best for u PvPCat^^

    About the horses I have 10 horses on pc and had about 7 of em on ps4pro, don't play on ps anymore. Had black Arabian on ps, but did not buy it on pc cause it really doesn't matter, I buy based on looks, I have bought most of the GOLD purchasable horses in RDRO, my favourites are the Rose Ardennes, Reverse Nakota and White Shire. The speed and all REALLY DOESN"T MATTER!!

  • @RobertSiemer

    I don’t like the test very much, because it is practically not relevant. - Have a friend ride one horse with 1s/3s/5s/ advantage and try to catch up! Can you catch up at all? How long does it take?
    And for the calmness of a horse: start a bounty mission and see what it does during a shootout. Does it run away? Will it come when you call it with a bounty in one hand and shooting a revolver from the other hand?

    • @PVPCat
      @PVPCat  4 роки тому

      It's not real experiments, shootout situation is different + ride with a friend depends on lag time (when you start) + riding skills + some other factors

    I wonder if acceleration affects anything. The only way to test that would be to come to complete stops and then take off again. Maybe if you did a much shorter route with a series of designated stopping points

  • @Night_Terrors
    @Night_Terrors 4 роки тому +1

    Yeah man, at 9 horses now I can basically say with full confidence that buying horses for stats is pointless. I don't use my Arabian or Criolo because I don't like them. But I use my Mustang, Kentucky Saddler, and Thoroughbred more than the other 6 horses combined. I wish I had just bought horses I liked from the start. Health and acceleration are the only stats that have any impact on gameplay at the end of the day. Acceleration does impact how quickly your horse will recover to full speed after sharp turns etc. so it can be nice to have a few extra bars, and higher health means that your horse may actually survive falls that others may die from... that's pretty much it though. Another player can just shoot your horse in the head and insta-kill it regardless of health, and you can use horse meds to reinforce their health bar for PvE encounters.
    I understand the reasoning behind basically making all the horses the same speed. It makes sense from a game design perspective, and I honestly appreciate that I can use things like the Chestnut Pinto Kentucky Saddler, whose coat I actually love, and keep up with MFTs, Turks, Arabians, Criolos, Bretons, Norfolks, Klads, etc. But it is kind of a shame that they handled horses the way they did for online. I wish they had something other than looks to differentiate them.

    the one thing that might matter is size- I can’t tell but the shire might be great all terrain horse. There are jumps it can make that no other animal can, and if animation in water and snow is based on relative height, then shire keeps peak speed for longer.
    I’ve been using my shire in game for a while now

They both growled, but my horse(Norfolk Roadster) didnt threw me off, one of them stood right beside my horse. Got easy kills, so Im happy. 5 minutes ago, same thing happened, the Norfolk didnt throw me off.Is that random occurence? Or is this maybe the best horse out there? :)

    some horses seem to have different handling in terms of turning left-right while riding it. however this could be because of their body size and legs length, not necessarily because of the actual "handling". something you can test out, for example the fox trotter feels better at turning and avoiding collisions compared to a turkoman. anyone else experienced something similar with different horses?

  • @seb5945
    @seb5945 4 роки тому

    Handling difference becomes apparent only when you go to places like Roanoke Ridge where trees are thickly grown. You can slip in and out of pretty much any gap with Arabian. But when it comes to courage, you're most likely to get bucked of by Arabian than other breeds.

  • @rapj.r.6133
    @rapj.r.6133 2 роки тому

    Handling is just sensitivity to turning. Heavy horses take a while to turn or change directions and such. It doesn't really affect speed, it affects the acceleration *slightly* because elite can accelerate faster while turning. Whereas a heavy would need to be almost fully out of the turn to accelerate

  • @Steiring_

    I apprechiate the amount of time and work for this test. Ive done some collector sessions and know how boring it is riding across the map.
    I own every rank 20 horse and the black arabian. I would argue that handling matters, when you have to make quick direction changes a lot like in the collector events, where you are in the woods chasing collectibles. I had a little bit more success with the arabian because it accelerates a bit faster when you stop and go and takes my contols a bit faster than the other „bigger“ horses from my feeling. In the end saddles make the real difference and the arabian is not a must have but a nice collectible.

    sounds solid.
    the only thing that intrests me is how they throw one off. You said you need to hit the botton at the right time and it doesn't matter? I think that's kind of the thing. I'm...less than perfect :D So I won't calm my horse on time. That's when I noticed differences between my race horse and my multi.
    My Race is the Thoroughbred and my multi is the Breton.
    But don't think the Breton is "better". It's different. It seems to be stubborn...slower in reacting on commands than the Thoroughbred.
    But still. I can't even say I'm sure about it as you said. timing in calming the horse matters a lot. Maybe I just became way better with that part :D
    Anyways. Great video to show that what matters about speed is riding skills and not the horse in this game :)
