This statue cost 100 crores not 3000 , the forest which you see around the statue were planted to promote eco tourism before there were only wild grass because of scarcity of water , they build a water body preserver of 15lakh litres of water ( Rain water harvesting ) . There are many outdoor activities , and natural caves which were converteded into Ayurveda shala ( Ayurvedic spa ) . It is the best statue in the country so far..

I see lot of comments as if its a sacred place or some sort of temple-like place. Well, its NOT. According to Kerala customs, any place associated with death/funeral shall cease to be a holy place and since we believe, its a final resting place of Jatayu, there is nothing sacred here. No temple or similar.
But there is a small shrine believed to carry Lord Rama's footprint, but no poojas or worship as such due to above custom.
Its primarily an adventure cum leisure park.
The rock offers the statue views and an upcoming Ramayana theater
But the main attraction is the Adventure park which is enroute to the peak from the basecamp. It comprises of a series of adventure rides set in a man-made tropical forest reminiscent of ancient Kerala Kavus (Groves). They have around 20 such adventure activities, some are much like Army-styled things.
Then there is another small mountain on its side which had caves. Traditionally these caves were of Siddhas, a sect of Monks/Saints who practised Siddha Vaidya or naturopathy style of medication. So currently these caves are remodified as Cave Medical resort meant for Siddha Vaidya rejuvenation treatments. It had only a soft opening, so only prior appointments would be accepted.
Another popular activity is trekking and wild fire-camps as fit for picnic rides etc.
This is not technically correct. Thirumaandhaam Kunnu Devi Temple (at Angadippuram, near Perinthalmanna, Malappuram) premises contain the samaadhi of Sage Maandhaathaa. According to the legend, he and his disciples fought Devi's Bhutha Ganas. These sages did not have any weapons and they threw a fruit called Aattanga at the Bhuthas. But due to the Spiritual power of Sage Maandhaathaa, those hurled fruits were converted to arrows.
Elsewhere in South India, many Shiva temples are actually samaadhi place of Sidhas.

In ramayana the path of Ram to Lanka is different from the place where this place comes .
But this place has more resemblance with the description given in ramayana when Hanuman Angad and Jamuvant met Sampati,the brother of Jatayu who show the path to Lanka.
