One of the most romantic songs ever. A pure love song.
Yikes 😂
lol 😂
🤘
About Jeffrey Dahmer of course
They did 213 in '95 at Dayton Hara Arena and when Tom introduced it all he said was, "Now it's time... For a love song", and they just went into it.. 😂
He also used to say that when he started Necrophiliac so that makes sense
My view has always been that at their best, Slayer had a knack for writing songs about the dark side of humanity. Songs that deal with war, the Haulocaust, serial killers, terrorism and other topics on "the evil that men do". They neither glorify nor condemn it, but rather metaphorically stick it in your face and rub your nose in it, as if to say "You human race, you did this, you allowed this to happen."
Exodus gets pretty close, especially their 21st Century stuff.
I agree with you. They also would write stuff at times to piss people off I think.
Granted in their very early years they’d do Iron Maiden Covers before Kerry an Co. found their identity (which would be Slayer as we know them) I like to think of them as a darker, more evil Iron Maiden (reason because a lot of IM songs have a history catalysts or motivation behind their style and/or lyrics)but slayer is more so what the darkness of humanity has done to society which in my claim, they’re (Slayer Band) not evil compared to the atrocities that humanity has committed only they shed light and let people know the world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows, we have a darker side that we need to acknowledge and learn so it never happens again.
Well said sir!
exactly, it's like writing a historical account with music
Probably one of my favorite tracks ever!
That's why we love slayer
Killing fields is the first slayer song that I heard and I was hooked
Same
One of my favorite Slayer songs!
Silent scream is brutal, both musically and lyrically
Yes! The abortion song!
One of my favorite Slayer songs ever.... and I'm a fan since the 80's
This is actually my favorite slayer song and album. Lol i never felt romanticized by serial killers but i felt fascinated mostly because criminology was always a huge interest of mine.
Divine Intervention is Slayer's most underrated and underappreciated album. Mind Control is my favorite track off of it.
The entire Reign In Blood album got me hooked!
The whole Hell Awaits album got me hooked on Slayer. Specifically the song "At Dawn They Sleep".
Great song
best Slayer song IMO
That and Kill Again are my favorites off Hell Awaits.
Absolutely!
Reign in Blood is the time period when I came in. Did the Columbia record and tape deal 13 for a penny but like 8 more or some shit. I discovered Metallica (when they were good) and FUCKING SLAYER simultaneously.
OG Slayer fan here. There is a reason they're part of the big 4. Their 1st 5 albums are absolute gold, while the later ones are very good.
That’s right! Slayer never put out a bad album

Its killer. I wouldn’t try an argue that it’s their finest work, but it stands on its own.
They were trying new things, exploring new styles.
I think of it as a warm up to God Hates Us All which is a masterpiece.
"Altar of Sacrifice" from Reign In Blood is in my Slayer top 5. It's only 3 minutes but it's sinister and brutal as fuck both musically and lyrically.
I upped the thumb on your comment, and went to listen to _Altar of Sacrifice,_ 'cause it's been a while, and the video I found was listed under the topic *Slayer* and it was great...
Then the song just stopped.
_Oh, that's right, this song flows right into the next one,_ I remembered. _What song comes next?_ And in the video list on the right, I see _Jesus Saves._
The shadow in my heart deepens.
This is going to be another _Postmortem/Raining Blood_ hypertensor for me, isn't it? Everybody telling the reactors I follow about the one song and not the other, delivering to them only half the experience and giving me an aneurysm.
Fuck.
_Altar of Sacrifice/Jesus Saves_ here: ua-cam.com/video/RC2ZdYz-nCM/v-deo.html
I used to think I knew a thing or two. I thought I was a metalhead. The last few months have strained that belief. Now this.
I did not know this song was about Dahmer. That's not great, but what _really_ disturbs me is that I was never curious enough about the title or lyrics of _213_ to look anything up.
You've brought me knowledge, LJ. I'm less ignorant than before I'd watched this. I'm worried about the state of my mind and soul, now, yes, but finding out I've something to worry about it infinitely better than believing I'm fine.
Huh.
Some late night in the late 80s, I dialed in some college radio show or another that was showcasing some metal, and they announced the next song as _Reborn_ from the album _Reign in Blood_ by Slayer. I could barely handle it. I bought the cassette soon after that. My neck has been sore ever since.
And apparently, my brain might be scrambled.
So happy you did this one, I was one of the people suggesting 213. Love your Slayer reactions. 🤘
even slow SLAYER is fire
Yep!!!🤘
Right?
One of my favorites of theirs. Spirit In Black is my personal favorite and should be listened to by everyone.
Spirits in Black is a good call ! I like Skeletons of Society off that album as well
@@Brando-Lee3725 There really aren’t any bad songs on Seasons. I love the solos in Spirit in Black.
@@ericsaculla8501 Oh ! I totally agree !!! It is one of , if not my fave Slayer albums . Every time I put it on , I got to hear the next track ! I wore my cassette of this out to where you couldnt see the writing anymore !
My favorite by them would be At Dawn They Sleep. It is one from early in their career that is about vampirism. Highly recommended
Nice to see someone reacting to this one, not a lot of ppl do
Same album: Divine Intervention...good song awesome lyrics.!!
Reign in Blood 1986 as a 16 year old into various metal that album made me a Slayer fan for life!
This is a SLAYER love ballad
I am so glad that you did this song it is one of my favorite songs from divine intervention album!! Especially those lyrics are amazing!! It really gives that disturbing vibe about Jeffrey dahmmer!!
The editing on that video!! Jesus!
This song still haunting me since it came out and after watching the Netflix series I came back to watch this reaction..
My introduction to Slayer was "South of Heaven". Buddy of mine was like "Dude, if you like Metallica, Megadeth, Testament and Exodus. You gotta listen to Slayer!" So he lent me his Slayer South of Heaven cassette. I FRICKEN loved IT! So next day, off to A & A records I went. I bought that cassette and any other Slayer album I could find. One of my favorite songs is "Disciple" from the God Hates Us All album(2001), I have mentioned it to you previously. But I am mentioning it again, because you REALLY should check it out. Enjoyed your reaction, as ALWAYS. Keep up the GREAT work Lilly Jane! 🤘🤘🤘
Black Magic from the Show No Mercy album. Some old school Slayer. Used to listen to that before my hockey games in high school. A great song to get you pumped up
Lilly you're going have to disinfect and have a priest do an exorcism of your computer.
"Hell Awaits," but the live version, the one from Decade of Aggression: Live. And you have to start from the beginning. That's the song that made Slayer my favorite band. I like this live version better than the album version. Rock on Lily, I love what you're doing. It reminds me of when I heard all these songs for the first time so long ago. 🤘
I love Slayer because they don’t condone all the stuff they sing about but to let you know that we as a human race can be all these things and the music reflects what we as a society, human species, are capable of doing and have been doing since the beginning of time.
You just have to love slayer, the insane lyrics, the solos that sound like the screams of insanity itself, and dave Lombardo for his drumming. The intro on this song is one of my favorites , it's unsettling, creepy and readies you for what's coming just like that long held note at the end of dead skin mask. No other band I know excites me and horrifies me like slayer does.
Great reaction! I’ve heard this song for nearly 30 years and it still creeps me out. It’s fucking great🤘
Second best track off of Slayer's most underrated and underappreciated album.
Been waiting for someone to react to this one... It's always been one of my favorites.. I really feel they captured the essence of the whole situation with this song. Of course the only way Slayer could.
Awesome reaction! Probably my favorite video of yours! Your choker and eyeliner look so great!
Love this song...
Reign in blood got me hooked many moons ago
At Dawn They Sleep is one of my favorite slayer tracks
This song just punches you in the face over and over and over again.. 🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼
I remember living in Wisconsin when the NBC station showed when the jury found him sane.
Ditto head is a awesome fast song to react to 🤘🏼
Slayers version of a love song. 🖤
😂😂😂
my frav is at dawn they sleep, heard it in the late 80's, was then hooked on Slayer, saw them live in Brisbane (QLD) in 93, alsolutely brillant and saw them again on the last tour, so awesome even without Jeff.
Love your SLAYER reactions! ❤️ Add Hallowed Point to list!🤘🏻
That song you described for me is "Mama Said"or "Where The Wild Things Are"
SLAYER IS THE SHIT!!!! MY FAVORITE AT LEAST. Pretty much any album will rock your world.
It wasn't just one song that got me into Slayer. It was my friend's older brother blasting the South of Heaven album, while we got baked and played Road Rash 2 and Mortal Combat on the Sega Genesis, that got me in to Slayer. Hahaha....good times. 😂
You know, everyone who does reaction videos to Slayer songs always does the most listened to songs. I want to hear songs that not everyone knows. Antichrist, Necrophiliac, Disciple, and Crypts of Eternity are all songs I'd love to see reactions to. Thank you for your consideration.
my favorite slayer song is DIVINE INTERVENTION
this is one of my favorite slayer songs. actually most of my fav slayer songs are hidden gems.
1. live undead (some of dave's best drumming)
2. postmortem/raining blood (must be listened to as 1 song; the greatest pun in metal history is the last line of postmortem: "... what i am, what i want, i'm only after death")
3. crionics (maybe slayer's most unique song, kind of iron maiden-esque, but thrashy)
This is my favorite Slayer song. In fact, my wife and I consider it “our song”.
Slayers song Gemini is amazing!
especially the ending
Song that got me into slayer was thr first song I ever heard from them. Disciple
I remember Tom Araya calling this a love song right before playing this song in concert. 😂😳💀
I was one of those people who wrote that. In fact, every time I see a Slayer reaction, I suggest people react to this song. You're the first who has as far as I've seen.
Die by the sword was the first song I heard by them off their show no mercy album🤘
🤘🤘🤘
Another dark subject song is Silent Scream!! You'll figure out pretty quickly what it's about as you listen. Killer song too!!
War Ensemble was what got me hooked.
❤❤❤❤❤
213 is EPIC
Awesome!!! 😀 😎 👍
my favorite songs of slayer are:angel of death and bloodline
Tom wrote it from the killer's perspective...DAHMER. 🤟👹
if slayer horrifies you ..check out Cannibal corpse album Tomb of the mutilated or Autopsy Macabre Eternal the song sadistic gratification is a classic
I LOVE you for listening to me and watching this
Not the song that got me into Slayer, but one of my favorites is Disciple from the Album God Hates Us All. Fittingly it was released on 9/11/01.
And that lyric. Pessimist, terrorist waiting for the next mark . That's a fucking strange coincidence for sure
I got to see the Original Slayer line-up back in 06 , for the Unholy Alliance tour... I was only 14 , was my 1st proper metal gig , was an absolute banger to say the least. Lamb of God also tore the place up ... Alexi Laiho too with COB
My favorite Slayer songs are raining blood , war ensemble , Dead skin mask , south of heaven , black magic
"Smooth, blue black lips..... I start salivating as we kiss. Mine forever this sweet death........... "
Now THAT'S a love song!! :)
There’s bands with Albums with 3 good songs. Every Slayer Album and Song hits.
Dead Skin Mask originally, but since then 213 is top shelf Slayer.
Great music video
Hell Awaits! One of THE best intro's in metal history! After listening to the opening you just want to throw around your furniture. In fact I think that's what I did....lol
BLOODLINE!
Please do one for Slayers Bloodline. For Dracula. And Their song Human disease
Hell Awaits
Her face tho 😍 🤣 😭 😂
My first Slayer song was The Antichrist. Yes I am that old.
If you're going to listen to early Slayer songs off the albums Show no mercy, Haunting the Chapel or Hell Awaits listen to Live versions of the songs. Sounds a lot better and is amazing to watch!
My favorite slayer song is Gemini but the song that i first heard was Angel of death.
The song is called " Two thirteen " 2.13
You can't take these kinds of lyrics too seriously... yes, '213' was about a real monster... but we all know Slayer does not condone or romanticize these horrific crimes. It's just brutal lyrics for brutal music's sake...
You look at a death metal band like Cannibal Corpse, who were so controversial w/ their horror-themed lyrics (which u could barely understand because of vocalist Chris Barnes' gutteral voice)... They wrote the lyrics the same way Stephen King wrote horror novels. Chris Barnes (former Cannibal Corpse vocalist) wrote the band's most gory and violent famous tracks, like "Hammer smashed face"... "Stripped, raped and strangled"... 'A skull full of maggots'... 'Meat hook sodomy'... And yet, Chris Barnes is a pot-smoking hippie 😂
When Barnes left Cannibal Corpse in 1996, vocalist George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher took over, but it was the bassist Alex Webster and drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz who took over writing the lyrics... and they came up w/ equally brutal lyrics for Cannibal Corpse tracks that Corpsegrinder would deliver vocally on the records and in concert. Tracks like - 'Orgasm through torture'... 'Dismembered and molested'... 'Blowtorch slaughter'... 'Death walking terror'... 💀🔥
Other members of Cannibal Corpse like guitarists Rob Barrett and Jack Owen would also contribute lyrics... In their documentary 'Centuries of torment'... Alex Webster reiterated that he expected that their audience would know that the band never expects them to do the things they write in their lyrics ever... Paul Mazurkiewicz said that he wrote lyrics because he aspired to deliver that level of gory lyrics that Chris Barnes had written while he was in the band... It was challenging to keep coming up w/ ways to envision brutal violence and death, but they've kept that tradition going til today. Their vocalist George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher said that he approached delivering the lyrics w/ seriousness, but not by the content... more of the attitude and sonic attack of his gutteral vocals.
Producer Jim Morris recalled tracking Corpsegrinder in the studio in 1998 and the track was called 'Dismembered and molested' by Cannibal Corpse... and he would go through the lyrics as Corpsegrinder was doing his vocals in the recording booth. Morris found the lyrics so absurd that he had to duck down so that he could start laughing without Corpsegrinder seeing him 😂 Of course, Corpsegrinder came out of the booth and saw Jim Morris laughing and recalled being asked, "How can you sing that with a straight face?"
It's all taken w/ a grain of salt... nobody in death metal bands aspires to be a serial killer or murdering rapist as far as I know... I've met death metal vocalists and lyricists like Karl Sanders of Nile, Erik Rutan of Hate Eternal/ Cannibal Corpse, (the late) Trevor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder, Barney Greenway of Napalm Death, Alex Camargo of Krisiun, Steve Asheim of Deicide... they were all very mellow, nice fellows... 😈
this my fav.slayer song back in 1996 hahaha
👍💯
I think a top 5 is all you can ask of long time Slayer fans. There are too many good ones.
I went to a tattoo convention in the mid 90s. There was a booth selling Dahmer dolls about 1ft tall. You could undo his flannel shirt , open his belly, there were fake bones in his stomach.
My favorite Slayer song (atm) is Necrophobic
The first song that I ever listened to is raining blood follow by War ensemble
Aguante Slayer La Mejor Banda De Trash Metal De La Historia!!
ben rocking Slayer for a long time seasons is by far my favorite but Divine intervention underrated
I so was wanting u to listen to this one! It will give u chills! This is real shit
Temptations or spirit in black. But Black Magik is my favorite hooked on slayer song
Very nice reaction 👋👍
You nailed it. There's alot of messed up people. Im proud to be brought up on this real life story telling and not fake realities. I like love your honest responses to things. But i lived it. And love the fact that feelings are not facts. God bless America and you. And anyone else that thinks there's government watching out for you? There not. A country boy will survive. Expessualy when he has been brought up with slayer and Pantera.
For some really hardcore lyrics check out "Jihad" . Not for the faint of heart.
Hello Lilly Jane thank you for reacting to this song by Slayer and for being so stunning and beautiful lady!🤘🤘😘😘🔥🔥❤️❤️🤗🤗😍😍
Gotta do "Silent Scream"
"213" was Jeffrey's apartment number. Tom bought his fridge at an auction before the building was torn down.
you will never be ready.
My brothers old band Gomorrah covered Jeff’s actions in their song Human Trophies back in the early 90’s. It’s on Spotify, be warned its death metal 😂🤘🏻🤘🏻
Definitely "Silent Sream" that song is my favorite.
