Just caught your video today and yes it's the crank shaft sensor. When my went out the first time my gauges went dead and it went into limp mode. It's a common thing and a quick fix but the cable mounts are a pain to disconnect. The next thing to watch out for is your oil cooler if that hasn't gone out yet it will probably be the next thing you will need to invest in. I'm in Kentucky as well Lexington area. Good luck.
@@evanpatel3947 it has a rubber gasket that fails if you ever see an oil leak it's most likely the cooler. You filter screws right into it. Most places don't have it as they changed the design in 2019 I think. I bought mine on eBay part number is 264102B740 and they don't sell the o-ring by itself you have to buy the entire cooler. No Instagram but enjoy your videos and love my Veloster.
I know Im late to the party... I have '15 VT MT. It began misfiring yesterday and is in limp mode now (going to the garage Monday). I initially had the misfire on cylinder 2 (along with code P0300 - mutli cylinder misfire). Changed out the plugs, with no improvement. Decided to move the ignition coil from 2, to 1 to see if I could throw a misfire on 1, and get rid of 2... sure enough, it did just that. Thought to myself, I have my answer... It's a faulty coil. Changed it out, ran good for about 5 minutes, and misfired on 1, 3 and 4; along with throwing the code for multiple cyclinder misfires. So codes (P0300, P0301, P0303 and code P0304). Do you think it possible the crank shaft sensor is the culprit, and its as east as a fix as that? It was misfiring without being in limp mode, and then went into limp mode today after the coil change where it remains.
I have a base veloster. It lost power going up hills. Turns on and idles but seems like not enough fuel or bad ratio mix. Any suggestions? Has barely any power. Does not stall but just won’t push the car fast. Just rolls in drive or makes a very harsh sound
Hyundai Veloster have a recall for engine replacement. No cost it's warranty free because the engine has bad piston rings. That cause this problem including fire hazard. Models 2010 through 2018
I had the same problem and it was in fact my battery terminal, I had my car not start a bunch of times and die on me while i was driving as well, it turned out to be my battery terminal, that fixed it for good for a while and then i had the car not start again and it was the exact same problem so i tightened it REALLY hard and i havent had the problem for a year.
I had the exact same thing happen to my veloster today. Drove fine all the sudden it lost all power. I drove it home would not go faster than 60km now looking for a mechanic to fix and sell it. the Problem is Hyundai makes shit vehicles. I'll stick with Toyota from now on.
Hey bro was this definitely the crank sensor? my velo is having the same problem right now and is been like 2 weeks trying to turn it on but I can’t work this off
@@evanpatel3947 gotcha! I have a buddy that has the exact same car an it's doing the same thing but throwing up codes for turbo and 02 sensor so idk man maybe he has the same prob you do
Are you running spring or coil over?? My Eibach Spring makes my ride feel like im in roller coaster all time. I want low stance but also want to feel less vibration and bumpy. Any tips on if i should consider buying coil or different spring?
I am currently on megan racing lowering springs. The ride is quite bumpy and you feel all the cracks but I enjoy it. I like feeling the bumps and I love cornering in the car the car is stiff and feels good. If you want to be lower with less bumps I would recommend coilovers as you can adjust how low you go and your spring rate or how "bouncy" your ride is. I wish I would have done coilovers to go lower but I am currently happy with what I have. Thanks!

My 2012 Veloster has been in that mode for 3 months and the Hyundai factory fixed it up did the same thing again..😡😡 so I’m going to check out my crank positioning
@@RyanGreenwald one day coming home from a night drive, my car started to lose power and I ended up having to park it to see what was wrong. After checking not seeing anything wrong, I got my code reader and was trying to find what the problem was. It had nothing pot up, so I just reset it to make it home. I called the Hyundai factory and asked them to look at it, they said they fix it without really saying anything. Got it back the next day it did the same exact thing. I’m having a similar issue, did you ever get it figured out?
Did you ever put a video out on how to change that sensor
I did not

Got mine replaced due to limp mode problems. Which eventually led to engine seized up
Luckily it was just a crank sensor. I hope I dont end up blowing the motor cause I don’t have a warranty cause the car is used!
Does your RPM stay under 2000?

Just fyi, a failed crank position sensor will cause the tach not to work. That's another way to confirm.
Yeah I hear that can happen when it is completely shot. Luckily it wasnt completely gone
BTW, Love the color of your car. Mine is the same. Just curious, mine failed at 111k. When did yours?
Aye vitamin c gang! Mine failed at 67k
How many miles on it
67XXX

Quick tip, next time something like this happens don’t turn it off and plug in your scan tool. That’s the way I got the code to show up.
Thanks man I would do that if I have had a code scanner but I don't
my vt has ran almost perfectly except for my crankshaft position censor, must be a common problem. order one from advanced auto n you should be good
Yeah it is pretty common. Good thinking on ordering ahead tho...
same thing happend to me, they sent out a recall on it and luckily i brought it in after the engine blew and they had to put a new motor in for free.
Oh wow😬 I didn't know that your engine blew that's crazy
There is a recall on the engine. I've had my new engine for almost 7 months. I love how fast it is no stalling either

yes of course I also heard that so I got oem from our korean parts guy

damn bro i know the feeling. boltons blew my velo build.
That sucks man. Did you get it to work out in the end?
I bet you don't have an oil catch can installed hence would be the reason why your engine died!
Nope it was the crank sensor! Watch my previous videos and you can see my catch can video.
