WOW! I’m just starting my very first studio and these videos are just awesome! You guys are a great team! So helpful, not boring, love all of the attention to detail! I need to make a wedging table and purchase a kiln, air cleaner and I would also LOVE to know how you made those shelves! Brilliant!
Video Idea: Jon you should throw a bowl reversed, meaning you finish by closing the bottom. You would start by opening up the bottom all the way down to the bat and pull out to the width and then start to pull up and in to create the bowl shape you want.
Hi Jon, I want to say thank you to you for getting me back into doing pottery. I started out hand building years ago doing Tiki Mugs! It was awesome, but then I got away from it, until I saw your videos. They've really inspired me to get back into doing high-fire stuff! Also, dumb question - where did you get that Skutt Kiln T-shirt in the video "How To Make A Cylinder - getting more height on the wheel" ? ? I need one. :D
Because Jonthepotter has such a big personality, I always feel like he's giving me the silent treatment when I watch his ASMR videos. For the first few moments I watch and think to myself, "What did I do this time?"
Also, is there a way you can make these for standard taper candles? I would love to use my beeswax tapers in these, but they would need a holder in the middle.
Watching these videos always makes me partially angry that I missed out & wasn't able to get into the pottery wheel art class in high school (we only had 2 wheels at my small town school, so only like 8 kids could be in a class each semester). I love the luminary idea! I assume the clay is still workable pre-firing, thus the carving? Or is that only a particular type of clay?
Don't worry Melissa, it took me 50 years (last year) to get into my first pottery class!!! I always had core classes at the same time, especially in college during my woodworking major. Landed by accident in a small castle in the Czech Republic where the owner of a coffee shop has a degree in pottery and classes :) Funny world.
Did you wife do any sanding inside or outside? To eliminate the burrs of clay? Also, how did you glaze the inside bottom? Dipping it got the bottom glazed?
Your wheel is really noisy! I was watch8ng a Japanese potter making whisky? cups yesterday and his wheel was silent...also a real fast brake on it...a young bloke like yourself....Laurie
Please tell your wife how much we LOVE her work! (Of course, we love you too, but you already know that! ) She has such a refreshing style!

Hi, I just found your channel today and enjoyed seeing the beautiful work. So cool. I love it💞
How long did it take her to do the carving? It looks like she wasn't using a pattern..... great creative and spacial mind :)

Wow! Wonderful work your wife has inspired me to have a go as she has at the lanterns. Love the glazes.
Love the work you do, you make it look so easy. Your Skutt pottery wheel, was it always that noisy since day 1, and does yours have the ssx upgrade?
Great job, you two! Those are absolutely beautiful.
Wow, Awesome. Your boys are going to be super talented. I haven't made it to a re-stock yet. This time!
Great video. Beautiful work. Missed hearing your narrative 😊
your ASMR videos are amazzzinnngggg. Thank you for creating them 💚✨🥺
Beautiful work! Also, I love the video having no music and no talking in it. How long did it take you wife to carve one piece, I wonder?
Wow.. you and your wife are a great team!
LOVE this finished product!!! so pretty. Best ASMR on YT
Really fantastic video.Thank youuuu!
What was that small circle white thing on the foot of your clay while you were trimming
I was wondering the same thing! Looks so much more efficient than squishing balls of clay and warping* my work...
@@XdispicabledandyX I just found it online, it’s a pottery trimming spinner
@@lunamoon9935 Thank you!!! Gonna be a game changer haha
Awesome! What model Skutt did you use for the bisque firing??

Can you do a glaze in cobalt blues and black? I would love to see your take on the combo.
Also, is there a way you can make these for standard taper candles? I would love to use my beeswax tapers in these, but they would need a holder in the middle.
What specific clay do you primarily work with? Just curious.
Excellent! Absolutely!
These are gorgeous 😍
Your wife is very talented with her carving
It must be lonely at times being a potter, especially a solo potter on a winter morning in Minnesota.
