Glad to hear! I think fans have a reason to be encouraged. The floor seems higher, so it's really a matter of how the starting edges/DT's fare over the season and if they can actually stay healthy + reach their ceilings.

You guys are making a point that no one seems to get..
Ed oliver is undersized..period. for him to be effective , he needs a larger DT to anchor the d line. Filling that role with rental players or older DTs HAS NOT WORKED FOR AWHILE NOW. we need size and youth ( draft pick) at that spot..
We better hope Dewayne Carter can fill in when daquan gets injured and out of the line up AGAIN!!
To me, this is exactly why we exit the playoffs early..EVERY YEAR.
Daquan when healthy is top 5-7 at the position and exactly what is needed. Carter will see virtually no snaps there because he's a 3 tech mainly by trade. Austin Johnson is also a legit 1 tech, so they're well covered there compared to previous years.
DaQuan Jones has been a great 1T paired with Ed. Like I said - he was at an all-pro level prior to his injury, which is unfortunate and does give merit to the concern about his age. I do think 1T will be a point of emphasis unless Carter can inherit the spot (which I am hoping he can as I was a huge fan of his tape at Duke.)
