  • I'm back at the property for a week and it's time to prepare for some bad weather and get started on the gate project.

Hadn't heard of compacting the ground. BTW, my GSD is 10. Had one live to 14, but that is the exception. I used 6x6 posts for my gates as I thought they looked nicer than railroad ties.
Suggest parking the tractor with the bucket tipped down so water doesn't collect in it.

$26.00 apiece for 8 foot ties made it an easy decision and they will not rot because they are heavily oiled.

@@AZOFFGRID I think the 6x6 were 36, yes a bit more, but I like the look better and are treated. Given my age, they will outlive me ;]

I won’t be back down till late April/early may . Glad to see you working on your gate/fence, it is a lot more rockier there than it is at my place, which is east of Snowflake, almost to Apache County. I had my well foundation built and it’s looking good to put a 16 X 20 foot building on it.. Next project will be to purchase a mobile/manufactured home. and place upon a slab. I am now putting my house up for sale in Washington.

It is very tough digging with the tractor in deep, wet clay.

I think i might still be suffering from tractor envy issues!! haha ..... I subscribed to your other channel. We actually have 5 youtube channels currently and i'm pretty much equally behind on my projects on all of them! haha
They say the more the merrier though ...........

Wow. Five channels. I couldn't do it. The weather is holding me back from making progress here right now. We had some rain and then snow. Now it's a muddy mess.

@@AZOFFGRID We have different channels for different topics, our main Channel "Adventure Ready Off grid" and our lifted van camping channel "Adventure Ready Van Life" are the two i focus on right now.
Yeah the weather has been pretty crazy and unpredictable this year, we just got done delivering a 40 foot shipping container to another rural property during some light snowfall ,,,,

I may be in the market for another shipping container in the future...... say maybe September/October ish. Just throwing that out there. I don't know how far you are willing to deliver though.

Didn’t you plant a couple of fruit trees last year, if so how are they doing?

I did. An apple and peach tree. They are either still dormant from the winter or they are dead. I will know for sure in May.
