This is how roads should be - polite and safe. Respect to both of you.
Idk what all those zig zag lines mean but isn't this MF'er on the road? if so then NO roads are for cars get them damn bikes of the road...
@@oBuLLzEyEo1013 Where there are no bike lanes cyclists have to go on the road. You don't want them running over people on the sidewalk. The roads are for everyone

With the influx of illegals... British politeness will erode very soon.
Bill Nighy, great actor and very respectful 👍
Absolutely...
I would expect nothing less.
He was HILARIOUS in Love Actually
Billy Mack!!!
I wonder, is Bill Nighy a science guy-ee?
Who is he?
I was expecting a doppleganger, but I'm pretty sure that's actual Bill.
Most definitely it was. You can see his Dupuytren hand - an issue he is very matter of fact about.
@@russefrance4869 Well spotted. I have it on both of my hands. They have no idea what causes it,as a whole Swathe of society get it,with no link yet found. Thankfully it is treatable though.

Zoomed in,difficult to say,but it certainly looks like him! 😊
@piggerGg Oh that's fascinating. I hope it is true.
He lives in the area, I'm working round the corner and see him all the time. He's always dressed very dapper and entertains anyone who stops him and asks for a photo
What area
Is nobody going to mention how quiet the place is? Here in Asia, everywhere is packed with tons of people.
You can even see right at the start of the video, it looks like he's just finishing up talking to someone before he crosses the road.
@@FutaCatto2 The population isn't as dense in this area as most of Asia, I'd imagine. It's like this on the outskirts of certain American cities, too, especially at certain times of day.
@@FutaCatto2 Well the whole world isn't Asia, surely you must know
I saw him once trying to use a pelican crossing. "WHICH BLOODY BUTTON IS IT!"
😂 He wanted to get home and watch the Brazilian Grand Prix
What's a pelican crossing?
@@Philmoscowitz It's kind of like when a swan gets angry.
@@Philmoscowitz I did provide you with a link to a site that explains the different crossings but the comment was removed.
@@nelsonhibbert5267 Thanks. I looked it up. We have them in the US, but I don't know if we have a particular name for them other than the generic term "crosswalk," which I guess is a pretty broad category.
Safety first, Shaun.
Haha. You win.

Guy had no idea he was talking to Davy Jones.
🙄🙄Or maybe he just doesn’t kiss ass.
He did. But is normal and treats everyone the same.
@@ilovethesmelloffireFR
He wasn't talking to Davy Jones. He was talking to Bill Nighy. While Nighy has portrayed Davy Jones on screen, the character is ultimately fictional
@@CaptainHandsome Don't take this as an insult, but have you ever been checked to see if you're autistic?
Met him at Black Park (Next door to Pinewood Studios) whilst walking the dog. He was filming there, We said hello in passing and mentioned the weather. A very pleasant English gentleman.
I thought this would be clickbait but no the cyclist did actually stop at a red light.
Like solar eclipses, a cyclist stopping at a red light is an anecdote for life.....😊
Once in a blue moon situation.
@@budthechud9795once in a blue moon your mom.
As a cyclist, this is unbelievable.
Do cars ever fully stop at stop signs unless forced?
Had the pleasure of meeting Bill at a charity do once. He was surprisingly down to earth and VERY funny.
LMAO
For crying out loud, I came here to work off a Limmy overdose.
lol
Limmy is EVERYWHERE.
I was in London last year, wife went into a shop and I stayed outside. About thirty seconds later Bill came out the shop, looked straight at me and smiled, and walked off. So I can confirm, very friendly chap. Everyone speaks where I live, can't say they same about London, apart from Bill of course.
Everyone speaks where I live too .
They don't speak were I live :(
My cat speaks too.
@@peterwillson1355 what Peter is it Cantonese bet it's very purrity

I met Bill Nighy in my hometown of Melbourne where he was filming in that city at the time.
He was just walking along Russell Street in the CBD, I recognised him and said, "Are you Bill Nighy?"
He answered yes, I told him how much I loved his work, and asked if he was enjoying our city.
At the end, I said "I'll stop bothering you and let you get back to it." He insisted I wasn't bothering him. Great guy.
LUL
It loooked like he gave you the finger xD
He has Dupuytren's contracture - a medical condition where the fingers curl in and they can't open and close as normal. He is not being rude!
I thought that at first lol
same
It's London, right? I'm pretty sure he has to do the backwards peace sign for the same effect to get across.
Still, my Yankee brain was not registering a "thank you" at first. 😂
@@davidwaterman23 Thanks for letting us know!
The fact he felt the need to say thank you for stopping at a red light shows you how many that don't.
i mean when youre on a bike and its safe to cross, why shouldnt you?
@@MrDukeSilverrbecause that’s not how traffic signals work. Would you encourage a car to do the same?
@@MrDukeSilverrBecause it is illegal for any road traffic to cross a red light. Dangerous for yourself too
@@MrDukeSilverr because you're not meant to. There's a reason so many people, even other cyclists hate cyclists lmao.
@@MrDukeSilverr Because you’re still a vehicle and you abide by the rules of the road. Cars can’t go through red lights and nor should you. This is why everyone hates cyclists.
Who doesn’t love Bill Nighy!! A darlin’ man!✌️☘️
Selene
I think Bill Nighy would make a great Alfred from Batman.
I agree whole heartedly
I concur
Yes but in all fairness, he makes a great anyone ❤
Bill is a national treasure
nice one gaz
i find people really appreciate it when you stop and let them cross at lights, zebras etc. had lots of smiles and thank yous. more than makes up for losing momentum, and you get to do your part for improving the perception of bike riders.
A great actor and what you see is what you get . Lovely man
@DJ-gb3wy but polite people thank others for doing the right thing anyway.
You know the law is to stop at red lights, right?
@@J1mmyMackYes and still a lot of cyclist dont stop and start to give the most ridicule excuses, generally giving the rest of cyclist a bad name. So when someone stops, it is generally aprettiated
Not ploughing through the paths of pedestrians crossing the road is also worth losing a bit of momentum. Also following the law is worth a loss of momentum. Not darting out in front of the cars coming the other way and potentially causing them to swerve is worth losing a bit of momentum. Not being the cause of constant annoyance and fear and potential danger is worth losing momentum.
So rare a thing it even made it to UA-cam.
He gave him the finger. What an honour.
Underrated comment 😂 tbf though he does well considering how bad his arthritis is
@@abispanner3957 🤣
@@abispanner3957 no, it’s dupuytren's contracture

Rumor has it, he still has the child safety locks on. (Shawn of The Dead). 😅
Meanwhile the cyclists where I live will barrel through a red light and nearly knock you over in the crosswalk, then turn around with a pissed off expression like you got in THEIR way
Almost half a million people watching Bill Nighy crossing the road. It says a lot
What a charming little clip! Bill seems like such a wonderful man and this confirms it! 👍
Gentleman. Was on a work trip in January and ended up sat behind him in a cafe. Very polite with the staff, and was terribly sorry for asking for such specific things for his breakfast!
Really lovely video Gaz! ...He must live in the area, I found him sitting in a cafe and took a selfie a few months ago... really close to where this video was shot!
Bill Nighly is awesome
Just heard the last bars to a song"you are so beautiful to me" sung by bill nighy in a bbc radio 4x play, and it was absolutely brilliant, there was such warmth in his voice , someone should grab him and.try a record or two in only bill.nighys style of tone
Absolute legend.
Is it really like that, that in the UK bikers drive on the road and don't stop at a red light? Because in germany, if you drive on the road, you stop at red, if you don't, then it's a traffic violation, and if you do it enough, in the worst case scenario, you could even loose your drivers license.
Bill’s awesome and all, but I’m more impressed by the cyclist obeying traffic rules.
A true gentleman. Let's all be more like Bill.
Good manners cost nothing. It's a shame that more people don't know that.
Do you fear red?
Do you fear that bright orifice?
All your brakes laid bare.
All your speed, vanquished!
Taken northbound on Vauxhall Bridge Road in central London. Indeed, he does live local to that spot.
Bill Nighy is top class!
When studying in Manchester, me and my friend walked passed him near Oxford Road. My friend recognised him and said “oooo hello!” Mr. Nighy stopped, turned around and bowed to us before continuing on his way.
You never know who you get to meet👍🏼
This was definitely Bill Nighy. You can see on his fingers, he has some arthridis illness that prevents him from stretching his fingers outwards, so his fist is always closed.
Very nice to see a bike person obeying the signs! John P.
If you haven’t heard the Charles Paris radio show on Radio Four. I highly recommend it, he plays a alcoholic amateur detective actor, it’s very well made and really funny.
You don't need a vampire elder ripping your throat out for a highway code infraction... smart move.
I take his point, we share the road.
Nice, but a bicycle is a road vehicle, road vehicles stop at red lights.
Why the adulation? 😆
Bikes rarely stop they don't consider themselves vehicles or pedestrians
Bicycle riders need to listen up. They're eating their own by being so rude.
See. All you cyclists who rush through red lights? This is what you're missing. Bill Nighy always appears when you stop to thank you.
When the quotidian becomes the exception, WE ARE IN TROUBLE.
I spent some time in london a couple of years ago, and the traffic light situation was crazy! In some areas, there were traffic lights for cars and traffic lights for cycle lanes. But near where i was staying, there was only traffic lights for the road and pedestrian crossing. Only problem was, some cars didnt obey the lights, and many cyclists assumed they didnt apply to them and just cruised on by either as a vehicle or as a pedestrian while other people were crossing.
Old school gentleman and well done to you Gaz for obeying the law.
Interesting, just a walk on part that he generously performed without a fee.
Thanks William.
Saw him near Goodge St a few months ago, he stopped outside a Turkish cafe and was kindly talking to the owners and having photos with them. Lovely chap.
You shouldn't only stop at red lights because you need a rest. Ride reponsibly.
CycleGaz, Yay! I liked this video so much, it made me smile!
Cyclist:”have a great day fella” Bill Nighy:”fella??? Do you fear death? Do you fear that dark abyss? Are your deeds laid bare? Were your sins punished? I can offer you an escape”
I think the knob on the Boris bike really showed why Bill was so polite. Comes speeding along the pavement, shoots across a crossing and weaves past Bill onto another pavement. Bill was surprised that some bike riders actually know the highway code.
god he was absolutely flying across the pavement there. surprised he didn't break the sound barrier actually.
He's my national treasure.
I dont blame him. Most cyclists have an issue with stopping and yielding to anything. Too many think they own the road.
Top guy, respect for being so polite and amiable
Unusual for a cyclists to do that. In my experience they're the most selfish, arrogant, me, me, me people you could ever have the misfortune to encounter.
Cyclists get the angriest at motorists and they themselves never stop at red lights..thanks for stopping at the red light
_Bill sees the traffic light colors reflect off your shiny clothes_
“You’ve got red on you”
God he's looking thin. Stay glorious Bill!!
People I know in the industry have good things to say about him.
He sounded genuine but showed the middle finger at the same time?
He has Dupuytren's contracture, and many pictures of him waving to crowds look rude 😂.
Yeah, at 0:13 it looks like he is giving him the middle finger :D.
Outrageous that people are actually speaking to strangers in public, how will society react to this 😄😄😄😄
Yes I'm very concerned. It needs to stop.
Most cyclists think they own the road. Nice to see one obey traffic rules
I'm pretty sure he was giving you the finger covering it by saying thank you at the same time 😄
Fuck me that’s rare, the cyclist stopping at a red light that is
Hes not the science guy?
Well done the cyclist for stopping and being human.
why did i think this was gonna be bill nye the science guy 💀💀
This reminds me
One time I saw David Letterman on my break at work. He was driving a tiny exotic sports car in an exotic colour. His beard was bigger than the hood of the car lol!
Nobody believed me at work but the facts added up lol
Pimlico ain't it? near the QM's sports centre
is this AI? I never see a cyclist being this polite
thank you for not breaking the law??????
If he hadn't stopped "do your fear death"?
Vampires are polite and have good manners
I always stop at red lights, yet never seen Bill Nighy crossing before me. Rotten luck, then leaving in NZ doesn’t help much, I’ll give you that
Brilliant!

Bill has always been class
I used to volunteer at his local polling station. Very charming man - stopped for a chat.
how lovely
It looked like he flipped him the bird.
Did he just give you.... THE FINGER?!!?
Yeah, but he was trying to do a thumbs up. Bill Nighy has arthritis so he has trouble controlling his fingers. he's old.
He showed him his middle finger wth
A gentleman.
Plot twist: Bill is a paid actor
He sold out to big acting.
My former colleague used to live near him up by Marylebone and was always so kind saying hi as he brought his newspaper he said.
Oh... Cyclists.... *speeds up*
Bill nigh the actor guy
Bill Nighy is the most quintessentially British fellow ever to live.
Bill Nighy, the polite guy
Dam I thought he flipped him the bird to start with lol.
yes but not intentionally
I think it was because the other person just cut him off right before.
I work on the Euston Road and I've seen him a couple of times walking around in Bloomsbury.
What a genuinely nice guy.
That makes a welcome change, a cyclist stopping at a red light. Around a decade ago, around 6pm on, I was on Deansgate, Manchester, walking to the nearby tram station. The police were stopping cyclists who were jumping the traffic lights at the junction witn Deansgate/Liverpool Road/Great Bridgewater Street, the only time I've ever seen them do that. Things haven't improved since. BTW, I love Bill Nighy's voice, his voiceovers on the train journey series is brilliant.
Getting thumbs up from Davy Jones, that must be a life goal achieved 🙂
Imagine if George Lucas appears crossing after Bill Nighy
... but notice the person on the green motorcycle (a bicycle with a motor) who rides off the pavement on the left to cross as if they are a pedestrian and then cut in front of Bill as they turn right on to the road, deciding to become a road user (as if it's OK to choose).
So, both delightfully good and typically bad behaviour caught in one short video. Marvellous! 🙂
What a legend 👏🏼
I’ve seen bill siping coffee around soho many times. One of those guys who just goes about life like everyone else, despite everyone recognising him everywhere.
Amazing 😂
