Based on S.E. Hinton's best-selling classic novel and directed by Academy Award and Golden Globe-winner Francis Ford Coppola, The Outsiders focuses on the class struggles between two groups of Oklahoma teenagers during the 1960s.
Capturing the intense feelings of being caught between childhood and adulthood, and not belonging anywhere, this 1983 film also served as a launching pad of talent, featuring a slew of future box-office names before they were stars, including Tom Cruise, Diane Lane, Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, C. Just watched the complete novel and it features many scenes that weren't in the original, it also feels more stretched out and emotional all in all I give it 9/10

I wish that Coppola didn't touch the original score, which gave the film more of a dramatic edge. Otherwise, I enjoyed seeing some of the extra scenes that weren't in the original film. 😎😁

The new soundtrack was added to give the film a more 60's feel. Francis Ford Coppola wanted the score to be the kind of music that the characters listened to

Its just reading tape better and adding bonus features, there's no reason not to do it for beloved movies

The recut score RUINED the dramatic theme of the movie. saw it last night. terrible
I somewhat disagree. Since the movie takes place in 1965, the new music gives it a more 60’s feel

More people who read the book enjoyed this version as it stayed true to it more than the theatrical cut.
Only thing I hated was that the music can be so loud that you can’t hear the dialogue.

Loves seeing the new scenes added. But the original music was great. The newly added music was garbage
I always tell people that I only recommend the “complete novel” version of the film. The theatrical version just isn’t worth watching in my opinion. Only saw it once and was extremely disappointed.
