I met him twice, about seven years apart. The first time, I got my picture taken- my dad did not. He always said he wished he did. When we met Lou the second time, it was at a comic-con. I paid for my autograph, and again my dad did not. After lunch, my dad was expressing regret about missing a second chance. I went up to Lou, "Would you take a pic with my dad?" "You have to buy a book, and I'll sign it." "Well, I bought one earlier, this is just for my dad." He thought about it, "Your dad? Well, okay!" It meant something to him that a father and son were bonding. He strikes me as a warm-hearted individual who cares a lot about family.
I agree Soon2be. In my opinion, Lou probably inspired more young men to body build than Arnold and every other competitive bodybuilder ever- COMBINED. Outside of the cult, no one has ever heard of Haney, Yates, Zane, Heath, Coleman, Oliva etc. Every week millions saw his incredible physique. As a 13 year old who was painfully thin even for an ectomorph, when I first saw Lou I was AMAZED at what the the body could be developed to. I felt that if I did what ever he and others like him did I also might get to some degree a similar result. I used to sit through that boring show just to get some inspiration/motivation from the "hulk out". As an insecure teenager, I am sure I am not alone in that generation that was first exposed to him in that I found his appearance electrifyingly inspirational.
I met him at a signing about 20 years ago in Milton Keynes in the U.K. Did not charge for a photo, but £25 for a signed photo with personal message. Had support staff with him to help him understand people's requests. Was huge in person. Additionally, with what you have revealed about his personal life, fair play to him with his success after being kicked out of his home. Keep up the great vids nick.
Ferrigno was the biggest of his day, make no mistake. His arms hit 23 1/3 inches. Even Vic Richards admitted that Ferrigno was packing more muscle than any of the big bodybuilders--even many now aren't quite where he was back in his hayday. And he stood 6'5 up until the late 90s. He still looks great for his age and rocks out with a fabulous look. He has my utmost respect.
I disagree. Imagine yourself being 'used and manipulated' for monetary gain by your own father.... who otherwise didn't have much of a relationship with you. THAT..... is very sad.
Michael R. Why? Maybe they were arseholes! And from the way Lou's father conducted himself in Pumping Iron its obvious he was a loser who was just taking advantage of him.
I don't think Lou was outta line at all. It was Lou who gave that name any kind of celebrity and it was all he had to show for his years of hard work, sacrifice and dedication. If there was a "regular" family bond where members respected and supported each other it probably would have been different. Maybe they would have started that line of fitness equipment and gyms and whatever else if that was the family that they were. They weren't though and Lou had to protect his brand if he had any hope of capitalizing on what he had built. He didn't do too badly with it, everybody can't be the Governator after all.
AHaber007 yeah he was huge and impressive no doubt, but his shape wasn't especially pleasing or memorable, unlike Schwarzenegger, Zane, Oliva etc Ferrigno always looked like a giant slab of unappealing muscle to me with very little aesthetic appeal
Kermit Hitler did you see this video? Look at every single picture in the video, and tell me you don’t find any of those pictures to be showing a killer physique. I think you’re fucking nuts. He doesn’t have the look/physique you’re describing. You’re just not correct.
Great vid Nick! I met Lou at a Comic-Con here in Kansas City a few years ago and he was awfully pleasant to me. He charged for his autograph but they all do at those conventions. I even took a picture with him. Seemed like a real nice dude and still massive! his hands were huge when I shook them :-)
I remember him on King of Queen's playing himself as their neighbour as you mentioned. I think it is impressive how he has kept most of his size over his entire life. I find it really depressing when you see ex body builders that just deflate to the size of a regular man.
Lou is a legend he always looked Powerfull and still looks strong.!!! Keep strong lou you are always a champion no matter what crirics say. Inspired a lot of youth in our days 70's and 80's even 90's
Nick, you are a genuinely nice guy. Lou broke my heart when I met him at the Arnold about 15 years ago. He wouldn't take a pic with me and I was upset; Lou was always my favorite. But you do a nice job of putting his life in perspective. I wish i had thought of that back when that happened. Thanks buddy.
Man, what a shame about his dad after that 1975 Olympia. I thought you were going to say he blamed his dad for losing it because I always felt like his dad really didn't know what he was talking about with the posing and all. I also can't imagine ever disowning my son for not winning something. Lou did great. He is HUGE and he was very cut. He did everything he could, but as we know, no one would be allowed to be Arnold. Great video man. I learned a lot. I still think he is a d*ck for the whole charging for photos, but whatever. Don't meet your heroes in real life.
The Orpig I don't think I agree with the 'don't meet your heroes thing' having met Arnold and Steve Cook I can happily say that they were both great guys, Steve especially. Maybe I'm just lucky I don't know but I think people pick the wrong heroes haha
Ollie Hall Oh, well man, that's really great to hear. I'm happy you were able to meet them and glad to hear it was such a positive experience. That's awesome.
Even if he would've been better than Arnold, which he wasn't, he never would've beat him because Joe Weider and Arnold were already big buddies back then and would start the legacy drama we call politics today.
Met him last year didn't charge for the photo with jim....charged $15 for personalized picture of him and well worth it he was talkative super nice and I liked your video got me to subscribe and share
I have meant Lou at Comic-Con, San Diego, and he has never charged me or others that I saw, taking pictures. And he is one of the only stars to come in by the front entrance so he can meet and greet! 👍💖💪🏻
I used to train at Ferrigno's gym in Brooklyn. Years later I ran into his brother Andrew, and he said they had no more contact with Lou over money issues.
His father tried to make up for his own shortcomings by dominating his scenes in pumping Iron and he disowns him? the guy was still a success regardless.
He was a massive pile of muscle, made even more impressive by the proportion to his height. I didn't know about the cell pic business, he always seemed like a nice guy in interviews.
I met him a few times when I worked for TSA at LAX years ago (Sidenote... worst job ever) - I had to search him on a couple occasions (~2009-2010) and he was always polite when most other people weren't. He is a reserve LA County Sheriff deputy, personal trainer, and fairly accomplished actor. Given his upbringing and role model - I think he has done very well.
Who would disown their child over a competition? I lost many competitions, and my dad was there saying you tried your best. Winning is important, but effort and family are more important.
Another great video, Nick! The story about the deterioration of his relationship with his father was heartbreaking...He's overcome so many obstacles, he has no choice but to succeed! More power to him!
One of your best, Nick! I've actually gotten to work with big Louie on some low budget films, and he really is a very sweet, very genuine guy. His wife Carla and his kids are wonderful and I enjoyed my time with him. When I see him around town or at the gym, he always has a smile and handshake for me, and is a pleasant and amazing guy. I've gotten a lot of very cool stories that are super personal, etc... I think he goes too far with his behavior at the shows and expos, but that's just me and everyone has their own reasons for what they do. Again, Nick-- another wonderful video. Thank you. I really love this one.
I've had the pleasure of meeting Lou several times in the Dayton, OH area. Always a professional. Always nice to his fans. I've been a fan since the Incredible Hulk first appeared on TV.
I suppose he doesn't seem to find the work like other actors. He has been in a few films in the 2000s. But I'm surprised Stallone and Schwarzenegger have not asked him to do an expendables movie... I'm sure who would take part that would be cool. That's a good question why wasn't he ever considered for that franchise.?..
His Father and Brother used to sell and install gym equipment I think? I read he didn't have much of a relationship with them though. Aside from The Hulk he very good in a film called Cage (1988?) from the late 80's. He also trained Michael Jackson shorty before he passed away. There is also an episode of the Hulk where he plays a bodybuilder and he also plays the Hulk called King Of The beach from 1981
I was 13 when Pumping Iron came out and was already lifting weights for exercise. I followed Lou's, Arnold's and Franco Colombo's career bodybuilding and what cam after. I saw Lou at a comic convention a few years ago in Columbus, Ohio. He looked as good as ever.
I met Lou Ferrigno at a Comic-Con convention briefly! He was ok, smiled at my comment about being a hulk fan for forty years and charged $40 for a signed photo,or two for $60.It was a dream come true and I'll never forget that day!!
I have always thought that Frank know was an absolute beast. Props to him for overcoming his physical impairment as well as persevering through his relationship with his father after that Olympia third-place finish.
Enjoyed the video. But wish it was longer. I was in the documentary pumping iron at 10 years old but only for a second or 2 with Mike Katz and Franco blowing up a hot water balloon or what ever you call it.i was at the judges table on mount tom.in Amherst Massachusetts or close by .im 56 now but still have many fond memories. Peace....
Love these videos! Do some on the famous classic bodybuilders Frank Zane, Arnold, Franco, Samir and their strengths and weaknesses in their physiques and compare them to their competition. Favourite new channel Nick!
Had the opportunity to meet Lou last spring. Tall guy....looked 6'5" at the minimum....what stood out was the had the largest hands I've ever seen on a human....bigger than any NBA player I've ever seen for sure. Unreal.....Very nice guy one on one...
I was at an expo and he stopped me from taking a cell phone pic unless I paid him $20... also another time, I shook his hand and told him "I'm a big fan" and afterwards he quickly started counting his money bag as if he was telling me to leave him alone... I never forgot this as this killed the heroic image of Lou in my head. It's kinda sad b/c I try to go to the expo every year, and every time I see him I feel pity for him. Don't be like him Nick.
Great video in good info . Lou Ferrigno was one of my childhood Heroes. I like him even more now that I know about him to this extent. I think he looks fantastic in these photos
Big Louie is a beast. Had a tough life. He was just so devastated after he lost to Arnie. It killed his spirit. If he kept competing, he certainly would have had a title, or two or more. A living Legend non the less, Mr. Olympia title or not.
I had no idea that happened with him and his dad...that's really sad. I heard him once say he had a "love-hate relationship" with his dad but I didn't expect that! Great video Nick! I love learning about bodybuilding backstories😃
I shook his hand at the last wondercon here in the sf bay area. He is one of the most pleasant people I've ever met. And was very impressed at how big and how much he looks like Hercules. The first prophet. How Arnold ever beat that giant dude is a wonder. Even though I love Arnold.
timing is everything in life.. if Lou had continued on with body building after the Olympia, he would have surpassed Surge and won 1977 , and maybe the next couple of years
Nick.... you hit the nail on the head with the picture thing. Charging money just for a pic turned my whole outlook on Lou around from childhood hero to zero. I lost a lot of respect for him that day at the Olympia when I went to see him and he wanted money.
I was literally thinking yesterday, "I wish someone would do a video on Lou Ferrigno." Then today: Bam! Way to go dude. Keep up the good content. Your channel is blowing up.
I remember seeing him at the Dragon Con cosplay convention in Atlanta. I tried to take a picture of him while he was sitting down at a booth table. He saw me and held some bottled water up to cover his face. I guess I should've offered him some money first.
Congrats Nick, for the great videos. Can you make a video describing the evolution of bodybuilding by the chemicals used in different eras like in40/50s 70/80 and after 90s. I believe people has a little or NO info at all about the enhancements used in the sport. Would be interesting to relight some past legends in this perspective. THANKs and keep it up with the good work.
Man, you should do a video on Bruce Lee. I know hes not a bodybuilder but besides scaring the crap out of every heavyweight fighters, he has achieved quite impressive feats of strength like lifting more than bodybuilders twice his size. Also, keep up the amazing stuff!
He came to an opening in my Maryland Golds gym. He still has muscles at his advanced age but what stood out for me was his dome. He has the biggest head I have ever seen.
I met Lou a few times when I was a kid in the 70's and he was cool. So cool in fact I arm wrestled him at a International Car Show. And my dad use to work out at a gym in NYC where Lou also belong to.
I had a huge honor in meeting Lou at the Wizard World comic book convention in Dallas Tx on November of 2007. I had my picture taken with him, with "his" Polaroid camera. My mom has it hanging on her wall till this day.... When i stood next to him, he made me look like a midget. Literally, a midget. And I'm 5 foot 6. Other than that, I knew my history about Lou, i read a few of his autobiography stories, before UA-cam was ever thought of... Really, really nice guy to meet. He's 1 of my heroes, and the 1st celebrity i had ever seen and met in the flesh. I can still remember how it felt to shake his enormous hand. Lol!
There was an article in the British press a few weeks ago about Lou falling out with the guy who played Flash Gordon at a comic expo thing, they apparently had to be separated, wonder if it was over charging for photo's? Lou's Dad does a pretty poor job of hiding his disappointment at the end of Pumping Iron so not too hard to see where that was going....nice one Nick
Well, he is the only bodybuilder at the expos that is actually famous in the mainstream. Even Phil Heath - no one knows who he is outside of the bodybuilding community. Pretty much every has heard of Lou Ferrigno or The Incredible Hulk TV show. That's why he is the only one that charges for a selfie photo. I'm shocked he doesn't charge to sign a picture.
Bounty Rogue Cinemax no I think this channel is in dire need of Jason crap, he is going to win the Olympia and nick needs to make a video on him, he out angles Phil heath and big ramy on every pose.
Pls bro pls, not in the AM bro, you're messing with former mma, a guy who's been with pro bodybuilders. I'm ain't no little man bro. I ain't no little bo peep. I'm like 230... AND i'm taking supplements. So pls don't run you're mouth and talk shit here in the morning
I met him twice, about seven years apart. The first time, I got my picture taken- my dad did not. He always said he wished he did. When we met Lou the second time, it was at a comic-con. He thought about it, "Your dad? Well, okay!"
It meant something to him that a father and son were bonding. He strikes me as a warm-hearted individual who cares a lot about family.
first seeing him climb out of that little car in pumping iron was what made me realize just how massive he was
YES
Tha car was not little, he was BIG 😂
Anyone in these comments who isn't AT LEAST 38yrs old will never truly understand the impact Lou had on us, especially as the Incredible Hulk
I agree Soon2be. In my opinion, Lou probably inspired more young men to body build than Arnold and every other competitive bodybuilder ever- COMBINED. 45 here
exactly
I am younger than that and I still really enjoy the Hulk with Lou.
T U true .

Victor was a beast!!!! Not many remember him!
Except for Arnold.
Lou Ferrigno arms has never been over 22 and 1/2 not 23 1/2
Lou had a badass beard.
Yeah he rocked the shit out of that beard
Great beard indeed, steve reeves also had a great one!
Nick's Strength and Power there's a video right there. Greatest beards !!! Lol
id rather be the incredible hulk than win a olympia
Lou's beard can lift more than the average bodybuilder.
Sad to hear about his father disowning him, but even in Pumping Iron you could tell his dad was kinda a jag off.
I disagree. Imagine yourself being 'used and manipulated' for monetary gain by your own father.... who otherwise didn't have much of a relationship with you. THAT..... is very sad.
Michael R. Why? Maybe they were arseholes! And from the way Lou's father conducted himself in Pumping Iron its obvious he was a loser who was just taking advantage of him.

yeah his dad was a controlling police man energy
GT Lees ô
Another bodybuilder that deserved to be Mr O. I like him as an actor and a bodybuilder very much!
AHaber007 ok lets be honest as an actor he sucked lol he played the hulk good cus that required alot of flexing no talking
Luis Gutierrez Well, not necessary talking about hulk, more like KOQ:)
AHaber007 yeah he was huge and impressive no doubt, but his shape wasn't especially pleasing or memorable, unlike Schwarzenegger, Zane, Oliva etc
Ferrigno always looked like a giant slab of unappealing muscle to me with very little aesthetic appeal
Kermit Hitler did you see this video? Look at every single picture in the video, and tell me you don’t find any of those pictures to be showing a killer physique. I think you’re fucking nuts. He doesn’t have the look/physique you’re describing. You’re just not correct.
I used to watch "The Incredible Hulk" when I was a kid back in the 70s. Today I'm almost fifty and Lou Ferrigno is still going strong - Wow.
He got pissed off at me when I filmed him at the LA Fit Expo and didn't pay him.
Bro you're a machine! Do you even sleep? Keep up the hard work man.
Just woke up man ;)
Nick's Strength and Power that's how we do mahnigga 😍💪💪
Nick's Strength and Power your voice is soothing (no homo)! Can you do Mark Henry please?
Ut did joo seh Loovee? You gut to be quviet in heeah! Like in a chooach!

Lou off drugs is very small, lean as can be, but small.
Stephen Mason that's what happens when you go off the secret sauce
***** for the last 10 years he's looked pretty bad, especially his arms. He has no triceps at all anymore. They're really weird looking now
The best lou ever looked was when he did Hercules in 1983.
I have seen Lou in the gym off juice several times and he is small, like 240-250, which for a guy that was 6'5 is not big.
Man you never fail to deliver some of the most interesting and informative body building vids on the net. This channel rocks!
I don't know much about bodybuilding but Lou ferrigno always looked super impressive to me. How he never won Olympia I'll never know
I met him in 93 at the Olympia and got an autograph photo for free. Big Louie is my fav bodybuilder of all time. He was very gracious when I met him.
Lou is a legend he always looked
Powerfull and still looks strong.!!!
Just don’t have heros
I met his son at work last year. He was a cool dude & very down to earth.
Great videos. Gifted in your voice, editing and story telling abilities. Not into body building, and I keep watching.
He's always been, and probably always will be, my favourite bodybuilder. Huge respect for him for making a pretty successful comeback, too!
He was a massive pile of muscle, made even more impressive by the proportion to his height. I didn't know about the cell pic business, he always seemed like a nice guy in interviews.
You help me and many other people in keeping up with the bodybuilding scene, keep that up. Thank you for your dedication.
Nick mate, you doing great but you need to watch out for how much you put out to sustain the channel in upcoming months and hopefully years... best!
I met him a few times when I worked for TSA at LAX years ago (Sidenote... worst job ever) - I had to search him on a couple occasions (~2009-2010) and he was always polite when most other people weren't. Best known for Pumping Iron, Nick? No way; Brother, it's definitely from being "The Incredible Hulk".
I met him in 2014 at a Comicon, and his arms are still huge! Everyone charges for pictures and autographs at Com-icon. It's ridiculous!
to me his body is incredible, my favourite by far. kept his hair to, respect.
Big Louie is a monster ! Seen him in person about 15 years ago . Still had great arms
One of your best, Nick! I've actually gotten to work with big Louie on some low budget films, and he really is a very sweet, very genuine guy. I think he goes too far with his behavior at the shows and expos, but that's just me and everyone has their own reasons for what they do. Again, Nick-- another wonderful video. Thank you. I really love this one.
Sandy Collora Did he charge you for a photo?
Ha Ha, no. I've known him for years. I've got plenty of photos... LOL. Big Louie is cool.
possible deterrent to make people not want to bother him all the time?
or just really wants to be relevant perhaps
As a friend did he give you a discount on the old handshake? lol
Mr. Lou Ferrigno IS always A BEAST. My childhood HERO. My adulthood HERO. A truly inspiring and remarkable man. Great post! Good morning.
I don't really fault him for charging for pictures. He's got bills like everybody else.
I've had the pleasure of meeting Lou several times in the Dayton, OH area. Always a professional. Always nice to his fans. I've been a fan since the Incredible Hulk first appeared on TV.
Your consistency is impressive
man I really appreciate the honesty and insight and research you do to give us quality content that keeps you interested nice video man

what father disowns their son for coming in third?
tempo1889 sad
Ricky Bobby's dad did.... if you're not first....youre last
Deserve so much more subs man!Your vids are always amazing and consistent
Keep up the good work man
most people never realize how much of a beast he was !!
Anyone else pee on the side of the toilet to make no noise
Vift not on purpose but we all have bad aim days

I met Lou Ferrigno at a Comic-Con convention briefly! He was ok, smiled at my comment about being a hulk fan for forty years and charged $40 for a signed photo,or two for $60.It was a dream come true and I'll never forget that day!!
Holy shit he was a mass monster in the 90s. Absolutely massive.
I have always thought that Frank know was an absolute beast. Props to him for overcoming his physical impairment as well as persevering through his relationship with his father after that Olympia third-place finish.

i met him at comic con and i payed for an autograph and a picture 80$. but the sad part is how he treats fans like shit with such arrogance.

I love learning about bodybuilding backstories😃
wow another quality vids keep it up bro
Thanks bro
Most underated arms. His physique for the hercules film role was epic. How he never won an Olympia is mindboggling,
do a video about Franco Columbu
My wife and I had the privilege of meeting Lou at the Brownell's grand opening in Grinnell, Iowa. We had a photo taken with him at no charge.
He also apparently started training Michael Jackson for the tour that never happened
I shook his hand at the last wondercon here in the sf bay area. He is one of the most pleasant people I've ever met. And was very impressed at how big and how much he looks like Hercules. The first prophet. How Arnold ever beat that giant dude is a wonder. Even though I love Arnold.
Lou kept improving over the years, I think he looked pretty good when he came back to the Mr Olympia stage.
timing is everything in life.. if Lou had continued on with body building after the Olympia, he would have surpassed Surge and won 1977 , and maybe the next couple of years
Nick.... you hit the nail on the head with the picture thing. Charging money just for a pic turned my whole outlook on Lou around from childhood hero to zero. I lost a lot of respect for him that day at the Olympia when I went to see him and he wanted money.
I bet he's doing it to act out....because of his dad and because of child hood he gained a bad mental state
I was literally thinking yesterday, "I wish someone would do a video on Lou Ferrigno." Then today: Bam! Way to go dude. Keep up the good content. Your channel is blowing up.
Thanks bro!
THANKs and keep it up with the good work.
he didn't charge me back at Arnold fitness expo in 1999
Great vide brother. You covered much unknown info in just 5 mins. Not even rushed.
He also played a Abulance Driver named "SIX"in a 80's show , Name ???????of It maybe ,Trauma Center ???
Yep and there were a couple of crossover episodes with THE FALL GUY starring Lee Majors.
Nick's Strength and Power, you're smashing these subscriptions!
Man, you should do a video on Bruce Lee. I know hes not a bodybuilder but besides scaring the crap out of every heavyweight fighters, he has achieved quite impressive feats of strength like lifting more than bodybuilders twice his size. Also, keep up the amazing stuff!
Michael Piticar
Dnt 4 get He mastered his mind as well. And he was natural
Sean Kimble hahaha suuuureee
So inspirational. Despite his weaknesses, he became so big and powerful.
Lou Ferrigno is a beast
He came to an opening in my Maryland Golds gym. He still has muscles at his advanced age but what stood out for me was his dome. He has the biggest head I have ever seen.
Good
vid!
Thanks man
I met Lou a few times when I was a kid in the 70's and he was cool.
Lou's Dad does a pretty poor job of hiding his disappointment at the end of Pumping Iron so not too hard to see where that was going....nice one Nick
dude Lou was JACKED!!!! one of the original mass monsters!!
I met Lou Ferrigno twice. He was cordial gracious and never charged for taking a picture with him
his gains are loyal baby
Best Videos yes the lui reference
yes bro
Best Videos yeah he did inject synthol at the rubber on the asshole to get it more elastic 😊
I saw pics of his comeback, alot of people on the net believe he got calf implants; they look suspect for sure. Maybe do a video about it?
Wouldn't be surprised if Lou sent u a bill for shaking his hand.
2018 november, who's on Nick Strength and Power video tour, can't stop watching really, one after another
Terrible how his father treated him 😠
But why charge people just for a photo? You'd think you'd want people to take photos with you
I knew Lou from pumping iron originally and followed him through the Hulk then after his comeback. He was a monster and should have won.
I'm shocked he doesn't charge to sign a picture.
excellent analysis on Ferrigno personality!!
nick could you make a vid on the future Olympia winner and sith lord Jason Genova?
Ogre Doug stop what?
+max Chatterton not in the am bro
max Chatterton stop being corny thats what hes saying. this channel dont need that jason crap
I love it, The Incredible Hulk t.v. show has came back on H&I(heroes and icons) Mon-Fri, in order from episode 1. watching it atm.;)
Lou was Ripped way more than Arnold, he just wasn't as proportioned as Arnold. But even today he is still Jacked. Love me some Lou Ferrigno!
YES I've been waiting for this video bro
