I am a big hair jig fellow, mostly all the fish I catch livescoping in on a hair jig that I tie. Never though of adding a small piece of plastic to it. Thanks😊
I started tying my own jigs and now that’s all I fish with… the only exception is in muddy water sometimes I go w a curly tail. I tie hair as well as living rubber, and I like flash. Since I have perfected my double weedguard (30# test) I don’t hang up nearly as often which is nice when you put time into them. Great video!
Another good one, thanks for sharing! The lake I fish you can get them on hair jigs but plastics just produce more fish and bigger fish for me! I have tied up my own combo jigs using a plastic body and hair or marabou tail and they work but still I prefer just straight plastic on a jig head! Good luck on the H Chain!
Brandon, had no idea you were a crappie guy too. Love the content. Very informative! Keep the great content coming. Good luck on your upcoming tournament.🤞🏻👍🏼🎣
Really enjoying your crappie videos! Have tried some of the tips that you have shared and had some pretty good success! I’ve tried hair jigs and don’t think I’ve ever caught anything on em. However that’s all my dad ever uses and back in the day he always caught em. I’m more like you on the plastic verses the hair. I’m in Tulsa Oklahoma fishing lakes like Grand, Hudson , Ft Gibson Tenkiller and I see people using hair gigs so I’m guessing that it boils down to whatever your comfortable with or whatever you’ve had more success with but for me it’s the plastic! Thanks for doin the crappie vids and will keep watching em 👍
I use lots of hair jigs I caught a limit yesterday on hair jigs on a big lay down in 30 fow Same pile last week I could only catch them on plastic. Same plastic you were tipping with today
It seems like everywhere we have tournament fished for crappie lately the bite has been off. Short strikers and non-biters has been the norm so I’ve been throwing a lot of Popeye jigs on 2lb test setups. Probably 75 percent of our weigh in fish over the last two tournaments came from that combo. The big ones will certainly eat that 1/64 oz size too. Another great video!
Yep last 3weeks I've fished neely herny Logan Martin and today Weiss on coosa river bite seems to be the same on all of them they been picky last month or so
Popeye jigs are a crappie fishing secret. The key to Popeye jigs is a trailer. The correct presentation is adding a white silkie from clam outdoors, Sheels. You want to use white or black silkie with chartreuse jig. The white silkie is treated with a very light blue permanent marker. Use the silkie with the rubberized ball forward. You just carefully slide it forward. Then place the silkie on the hook carefully through the rubberized ball. You are able to slide the silkie on the hook presentation from 1.4 to a 2 inch bait. The silkie is 100 count thread silk string. It give the Popeye jig an elegant presentation. A must try.
Good luck on the Harris Chain, I hope you win and make it to the Classic. You say you're using Vicious five-pound test braid, is it the panfish version or standard braid because I cannot find it? I do see the panfish in 7 lb test braid at Cabela's and Bass Pro. By the way you got me hooked on Vicious 4 lb yellow high-vis mono and showed me your trick on how to throw the spool into the water to eliminate twist. It works great! 😁👌
It is the Vicious Panfish in 5lb that I’ve been using. It is out of stock at the moment but they will be getting more in soon I’m sure. The 7lb is in stock and it’s good too just a little bigger diameter but will still work fine.
I started reading your comment until I realized you were a modern fishing hater! 😂 fishing without livescope is like making love in the dark. You can’t see what your doing. If you drive a modern car to get to work you have no business hating on modern tech. I bet you also use a computer! Oh the irony
@@casey10614 I am not a fishing haters am a screen watching hater I don't have a computer would not have this phone but my daughter got it for. Me on their family plan watch and see if livescope does not change the limits it is not for me and a lot of other people have a good night

I've always had to tip a hair jig. Thanks for sharing.

Show us which docks they're under please.
What transducer mount are you using?
A lot of guys that I know only fish hair jigs in the winter. Don’t know if the cold water is the reason. I am a plastic guy too.
Plastics for me but I'll give them whatever they want... I'm still calling game warden on ya ...😂 Enjoy the vids man 👍
All I use most of the time is my own hand tied jigs they do work
Both are good. But sometimes one is better than the other
I tip mine with a 1" gulp minnow. Always.
I grew up on that lake. I know it well.
Killing me throwing all them beautiful white perch back
Don’t like to keep more than I need. Thanks for watching!
I make my own jigs... started a year ago ill never go back to plastic. Besides my little micro craws.
Plastic wins the day in Northern Wisconsin.
I started watching until I saw you were using livescope will not watch anyone looking at a screen instead of fishing
