in many years of antiquing, I have discovered that when you find something that works in your place and flips your trigger, get it. Get it. Get it. You only regret your economies, not your extravagances
Ash can be such a wet rag. It’s good to think about and fantasize about the future. Important actually when you’re in the thick of such a big project. Also how is one to know what they like if they don’t educate themselves and take a good look around. You’re already there, the trip is done, the time is spent. Your partner is obviously having fun so just join in and quit your sulking. The details are what make it a home, not just wiring and plaster.
I hope the 2 units are still there if you do go back to buy them. I imagine that they would sell quickly because they are so beautiful. I would have brought them quickly before anyone else does. If you do decide that you want them then I wouldn’t leave it too long to go back or you may be disappointed and find that they have already been sold. Great vlog and I could look around these shops for hours. I wish we had similar ones in the UK. X
Even without electricity, it's a good idea to look at chandeliers and sconces. You might find the perfect things you know you'll want down the road ... things you may not see again, or may not see again at a fair price. It's good to invest when the opportunity strikes.
Yes that is exactly what I was about to write. Other chateau owners shop around, pricing, and when they are ready to go buy sometimes the prices have gone down....and sometimes they just wait until they do go down!
Very true then you just place them in storage in one of the unused rooms at the moment like other chateau owners do lol especially ummm can't remember which chateau but she has a whole small room with just chandeliers until she finds where she want them to go lol
Go back and get the matching cabinets now! Even if you don’t use them in the grand salon. A matching pair of anything like that you could use anywhere. Now get them!!! 🌈👍🏻🌺 James 😀
It can take months to find the right chandelier. So you really should always be on the lookout and grab it when you see it. And leave mr grumpy at home lol
Poor Terry, I know the feeling when one looks and the other is saying NO. You have to get things when you see them or when the time comes you can't find anything you like. Take care.xx
I had a dachshund when I was a kid. He was a large show sized dog and he could be mean and obstinate. But I loved that dog. They are prone to hip displacia and neck problems.
The dachshund we have now, Tucker, just recently went completely blind, overnight! Apparently that’s a thing in dachshunds and a few other breeds as well. He’s getting better at adapting to his new reality, and we give him lots of love and security.
I love your Vlog so much aside from Stephanie of Chateau de La Lande. It is full of fun and so family oriented at the same time. You are so real and not scripted…everything is natural. Wish you more success God Bless.
I always hear the donkey, but never see him! I think he needs a friend. They get depressed being alone. The furniture is beautiful! And Ash did a fine job with the one he helped pick out.
I love watching you shop. I work from home and caregiver for spouse. Am able to watch Utube. Grateful ❤️ love your whole family, Thank you From California
Ash has a LOT to learn about shopping with a" significant other"... he would be likened to me shopping with my own husband when we first bought our home together. The part that I find "kind of" amusing (yet not entirely amusing) is that he admits he doesn't have the "eye for it" or "seeing the vision" that Terry has. My husband learned early on that I did have an eye for design and style... and he (in a rather short period of time) came to trust my choices, my decisions, and my vision. He did not try to "control" me. He trusted me. Very clever... handing off the heavy end to Mum and Tony... way to go boys! Also, words of advice... measure the spaces... put them in your phone or in a notebook so that whilst you are shopping for pieces for "specific" spaces, you'll know what sizes you need and what to buy. AND... take the tape measure with you whilst shopping.
Love the two units !!!! You will have a huge audience if you and your mom want to take us antiquing We love seeing beautiful things ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️. Aww the donkey wants some wine too🤣
Ash is a little harsh on poor Terry! Looking around and getting ideas or style options is all part of renovations. I know you are not at that point yet but it does not hurt to look and dream.
I can understand why some people watching would be offended with some of Ash's comments today...sometimes couples have very unique sarcastic joking habits or comments but from an outsider perspective it can be very hard to watch...maybe when editing next time you can have that in mind...because i have watched other episodes i know Ash is a sweetheart and I have also learned to appreciate his humor...
Hi Terry darling , bossy ash lol. Buying bits of furniture will give you incentive and encouragement to get the rooms done. I'd be the same. Visualizing how you want it to look. Bless you Terry. Love to you all Lisa xx ❤️
You know, most of the wardrobe I've seen people buy from other Chateaux, the wardrobes can be easily taken apart for moving them and easily reassembled. Also, definitely get those matching units. Very unique and would be great in your chateau.
Please buy the units they are spectacular! In this episode we definitely find out who the shopper is 😂 Love your channel, and your family! Watching from the USA.
Ash is getting some bashing here, but I think sometimes he is the voice of reason for Terry. But Ash you need to lighten up, some Us subscribers love the brocantes and charity shops, and buying things before you have electricity, like chandeliers and sconces are important, especially if they are at a good price. You have a large chateau and it is going to need a lot of lighting. Take a lesson from Stephanie at Chateau Diaries, she has been purchasing items since she was 17 for a chateau she didn't get until she was 29. Go for it Terry, look through the chateau rooms and dress them in your head, right down to what you would like to see in all the rooms, then present it to Ash for his input, not criticism Ash. And Terry, always look up, as well as down and around so you don't miss anything. Love your channel and love you both. ♥
Ash was absolutely right about the wardrobe. It’s classically elegant. Terry I think you should take Ash shopping with you all the time. Great vlog - loved it.
I love how Ash keeps Terry from his natural bent to buy all the lovely things he sees, well done Ash keep him to heel, don’t allow Terry to look up at those chandeliers!!! My pal Chris in Monmouth is a chandelier expert if you ever need advice. Love your blogs x
Terry & Ash, the pair of carved cabinets are wonderful and an appropriate grand scale for the size of your chateau. I hope you can manage to get them as you both seem to like them each as much! The "fabric" panel in their doors was a strange choice by a previous owner but I'm sure the two of you will find something more appropriate for your grande salon. Was thinking a piece of antique tapestry or finding an antique aged mercury mirror cut that would have a great look. (My guess is there's two Rembrandt portraits, framed within the arches, and covered by that modern fabric 😉!)
Terry it sounds like you have a great plan for the decorating - just leave Ash home next time!! But get his wallet first!! Lol It’s beginning to look like a home again! Good luck 🍀
With Terry and Tracy's love of wardrobes, french beds and chandeliers, that place is gonna to be a beautiful castle. I just love that Tracy is such a team "let Terry shop" is too adorable. Terry, is such fun all around. We got your back Terry. You need to fill that chateau up. LOL
Next time bring mom along to go browsing in the brocante rather than cranky Ash it will be so much more enjoyable, he is thinking work load when Terry is following his inspiration and mom is flowing with it.
I watch you all and am amazed at the change in your project. Just a note. You can clean the old window and door fittings by dropping them in a crock pot and turning it on high. I check them every hour. You can watch the paint turning soft and starting to come off by itself after about 2 hours. But I check it every hour just in case. I learned this from the show here in America called Rehab Addict with Nicole Curtis and it works like a charm.
Ash: "Do Not Look Up"! Love your humor and the rapport between you and Terry. Terry has such vision and enthusiasm but needs you, Ash, to ground him. You two make a good team. It must be very difficult to have such a huge project with such magnificent potential but have to work within a budget and tend to so many practical considerations before you can get to the fun parts. I have lived in a number of older modest houses (1786 to 1820) and it can get frustrating to have to put so much time and money into the structure itself, which often can't even be seen, when you want to be doing the decoration, enhancements and other fun things! Hope you can get the two big pieces for the salon as a reward for your work so far and a promise of things to come.
Terry, can I make a suggestion? While you are still early renovating, you have time to learn a bit about antiques and wood furniture. You are “loving” everything from Empire to cheap 1950 repro. ❤️ you are SO lucky with all that beautiful wood pannelling on the walls. Stunning!
Love your choice in furniture! You all have a talent to make excellent design choices. Enjoy watching your family transform this Chateau. Your work ethic is amazing! Keep these videos coming!
You two are a great pair! The second wardrobe is much better too. I spied that rug when you first passed it earlier in the video. Its a beauty and well worth the money. I love the carved set of cabinets for the salon also.
Ohhhh, from hints given, upcoming wedding jitters may have struck. There was a wave of ongoing harshness that was difficult to watch, I felt so bad for Terry. And then Jonathan released a "secret" and the mood around the table was solemn; Tony didn't say a word and Tracy tried to be peace-maker, calmer-down. The renovation work is hard and real and a respite of some kind may be needed. The angst level for Terry was high in this one, my heart went out to him.
The way you two answer each other is just hilarious! Terry being all dreamy and Ash pretending to hate it. It's okay Ash, we won't tell Terry you actually love his ability to dream up visions like that.
Hi guys, loved the two cabinets, so beautiful, will look amazing in the Grand salon, also the big rug, when you see what they have put on them there, it makes you wonder how many Francs they were new. The wardrobe will look really good in room 401, and the new stuff that Ash doesnt know about will look brilliant in the other room. I found it hilarious watching you both, reminded me of a couple that has been together for a long time and one not having the same vision as the other, i love it, it keeps it real. Keep up the brilliant work, all of you. X
A week in that treasure trove would not be enough for me!! Love it❤
Chandeliers in the Glamping tents! What an unexpected touch of class in a tent. Go for it when you find small ones.
Your bickering is hilarious. Most youtubers edit out the parts that make the experience real. It's nice that you've left them in.
Hope they don't stop and pray it's not edited out. Too fun.
Terry & Ash... Those 2 matching cupboards should have mirrors in them...
or beveled clear glass
The furniture was beautiful u brought.
Thank you very much 🥰
Boys, I could spend all day looking at all t he e antique treasures as well. Thanks for taking us along.
Thank you very much 🥰
Me too. Beautiful shops. X
I'm with Terry. I could spend all day in there. Ash Definitely doesn't like to shop :)

Ash, Ash..let Terry look around...shopping therapy is the best spicy for any good relationship...let the man dream with his chandeliers....🤗
I think it’s funny! 🤣
Yes I need to dream chandeliers 😂🥰🥰🥰
Every chateau needs at least 150 chandelires LOL xxx
The 2 unit were fabulous, don’t know how you left without them.
I know it was hard, but we will go back to get them 🥰
I agree and most importantly...because BOTH of them liked them. Fabulous find!

Patrick suits his name.

Terry, I love the beautiful wardrobe cabinet you bought at the antique store it will be perfect for the Chateau. God Bless, Kathy
The matching units were the best things I saw, but I think the doors had mirrors or glass not upholstered originally.
Yes I was thinking that there should be a mirror there.
I agree
With all of the beautiful wood paneling, some painted or gilt furniture would look beautiful for contrast. Wardrobe is lovely, but blends into walls.
