Class 221 ex Avanti passes Basingstoke for Manchester Picc

Class 221 (unit 221116) heads from Bournemouth to Manchester Piccadilly! More class 221’s are going off lease from Avanti to CrossCountry. I think it is because of capacity upgrades if I’m right.. There are 3 ex Avanti units currently operated by CrossCountry (221114-221116). Grand Central also have some previous Avanti voyagers units 221142 and 143. This was filmed when lots of trains from Basingstoke were delayed and cancelled due to a tree blocking the railway around Winchfield on the Slow and Fast lines.
