- In a rare speaking engagement, John Wimber summarizes his life's knowledge of The Kingdom of God, recorded on June 13, 1997, at the Vineyard Church in Columbus, Ohio. He passed a few months after this in November.
We can still learn and glean from this incredible teacher and mover of the Way. Some wayward people malign him while others cherish his sermons not only back then but even for today.
It’s hard to believe that John went home to be with our Lord 26 years ago 🙏🙌
This much-maligned and criticized man is a giant of the faith. What still remains alive within the apostasizing Church of England is largely thanks to him.
Loved the teachings of John. They came to England in the 1990s so many amazing things happened

I became a believer after seeing a demonstration of the power of God in a Vineyard church. I miss the original concept of the vineyard church as it appears to have been watered down in the cause of time. You were a wonderful teacher John and are still inspiring many today. Enjoy your rest with your buddies.
The closest to him I believe is Pastor Travis Twyman of Inland Vineyard Church in Corona, CA.
When he was a boy, he was under John Wimber's church in the 80's.

I still miss John. He was good friends with my Vineyard pastors. When John went home to Yeshua the Vineyard church changed and has never been the same. You are right they watered it down.
I was born in the 80’s. I’ve just discovered John Wimber within the last few years. And he has inspired me so much! I love him. I wish I could have seen him before he died. We still so badly need his message. But it makes me thankful for UA-cam. 😊

I’ve been very blessed by John Wimber’s ministry over the years since 2007 when I was introduced to The Vineyard Movement. He had a very good balance in his teaching of living by The Word and The Spirit.
I was saved at a John Wimber conference. He was a wonderful Christian man.
He moved away from the direction the Vineyard was heading before the Toronto "Blessing".
I can remember hearing John wimber speak in Brighton. at the winds of worship 4 conference. great man of God. one of the most humble and funny man of God. I can picture John in heaven joking and laughing with Jesus.
I truly believe the biggest problem in Christianity today is people waking up for themselves and not for God's Glory and the Love of others. WE have forgotten what it means to be "Born Again" of God's Holy Spirit which comes ONLY by intimate relationship with God the Father.
1989 and 1990 met John Wimber visiting Gothenburg , Sweden, I was born again, in a meeting with Brent Rue.
I´m so thankful to John and Brent, sent by God to Sweden my life was changed, and still is.

Forgive us Lord for failing you so often, for not being obedient, for not being the people of God we should be. Let your spirit fall Jesus, let your spirit fall on the church dear Jesus, I pray Christians finally surrender all and become the mighty warriors we should be. In Jesus name we pray.

ian thompson was that in the early 90's as I was at that conference too! Brighton was my home town before I moved to Canada.

What a joy to see this wonderful video of John. This message of the Kingdom changed my life back when I heard John preach it back in the early 1980's...it remains as powerful yet today.

I went there few times.
I miss John Wimber. I got saved, baptized in the Holy Spirit, was given the gift of tongues and so much more because of what God did through John Wimber and those who chose to follow his lead. I've seen many many moves of the Holy Spirit and been part of so many more. The sad this is how far the church has come away from this move of God. Pray for revival in the hearts of those who are called by Gods name. Pray that we all humble ourselves before God, pray, seek God and turn from our wicked ways for it is those who are called by Gods name who have failed and fallen short and gone from being filled by the Holy Spirit leading thousands and thousands to Jesus and seeing miracles signs and wonder, to a church filled with as much sin as the world.

Wonderful speaker! Great to be reminded of this present move of God? I attended the Valley Vineyard in the San Fernando Valley, CA, in 1979 for a short time. I miss the free form of worship I experienced there. I love to worship God the way I experienced there and then. I remember "Isn't He" by John Wimber lovingly and still have it in my worship book collection.

as much as I love Vineyard and John Wimber,the Vineyard churches in my area have adopted these strange new seeker sensitive and morally liberal point of views....really want to experience the same fellowship they had in the 70's and 80's but it just doesn't seem to be the same today
I know what you saying, but I was just at the national conference in Denver and I feel better about Vineyard than I have in the last 15 years. The whole week was a come holy spirit theme. I think Vineyard is turning the Corner again

Sadly what J Wimber said about the Welsh Revival not producing lasting long term transformation of converts was ill informed, perhaps out of eagerness to be able to emphasize the point he was making in his message? Thousands of lives were changed in the Welsh Revival, so much so that society was transformed. The crime dropped so dramatically that the police formed choirs to sing in churches so that they would have something to do! It was a holiness revival similar to the revivals of C G Finney. The thousands who were converted did hear the word of God and they were discipled... They joined chapels, and so if you look round the valleys, villages and towns of South Wales you will notice the many churches that have construction dates on them from the time of the revival...1904 onwards. Listen to Edwin Orr's history of the Welsh Revival for a full and accurate account.

If I remember correctly, it was only a spray to keep his throat moist- the cancer treatment he was receiving dried his throat out.
He used the spray because of the cancer treatment left him not able to produce saliva. It destroyed his saliva glands. I know a friend who went through what John went through. He uses a spray to. Just like John.

Without Lonnie Frisbee there would be no Wimber or Chuck, nothing as it is today.
On his death bed Lonnie forgave Chuck Smith and John Wimber for trying to discredit and interrupt his ministry.

John Wimber was a really nice guy. But his teaching on the Kingdom of GOD was a far cry from the real Kingdom of God that Is to come when Jesus returns. There was very little Biblical foundation in this message, which was typical of the Vineyard. Most of it is anecdotal, telling stories. This is not the stuff of grounding believers in truth. I say this from a background of worshipping and ministering in Charismatic/ Third Wave churches. The Kingdom of God is not here yet. The Kingdom of God will come when the King comes, after the tribulation, after the Rapture of the Church. Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus! Then, the Kingdom will come.

Whose interpretation would you suggesting was both biblical and foundational. Let me guess !
You will no doubt be aware of all the many movements and philosophies and interpretations and churches and 'cults' in current circulation as well as those many come and gone who no doubt declared exclusivity.
The problem you have in your statement is that you simply suggest belief in something is your exclusive right without the ability to actual delineate it in a successful fashion from that of others.
Biblical foundational philosophy cannot be reduced to one thing . It becomes simply dogma . Sure , choose a dogma but to suggest you have the truth goes way beyond anything you could actually successfully defend in totality from that of others.

Just listen to the video brother. There is no clear teaching on the subject. He says, "We weren't having any fun anymore." That was the measure of truth for these guys. This is not a hateful comment. Simply an observation.

You need to read Ladd's the Kingdom of God. John gives references, you have to get off your duff and read and educate yourself. The kingdom came with Jesus. It came, it is coming and it will come one day.

I went to see John Wimber in the UK many years ago. In the meeting I felt a sense of hopelessness in his message. I've never really liked or respected the guy although the Vineyard worship music at that time was pretty good.
