And after that he should check out the version done on S&M2 with Cliff's dad in the audience.

Hands down one of the greatest guitar solos of all time!
alongside the opening track hit the lights. kill 'em all is such a gem of an album.
One thing I love about this song is that the middle solo is that Kirk plays it almost identically to Dave's original solo. Kirk changed the majority of Dave's solo, like the last solo in this song, so it's cool to hear the middle solo so close to the original.

My wife and I are a couple of old school metal heads from the 80s/90s, and when I'm about to take a shower, I often say "I'm just going to go...JUMP IN THE SHOW-AH", just to annoy her. Works every time. Believe me, when you get older, one of the great joys in life is getting a hard eye roll from your partner.

Even if it’s on your free time, you have got to check out Dave Mustaine reuniting with the band to play this and a few other songs for their 30th anniversary in 2011. It’s pretty epic.
Basically Alex should check out all the 30th anniversary videos... Before we get the 40th anniversary videos... A lot of good stuff there. Basically Metallica was going on and off stage during the day and mingling with the people invited and playing their tunes with all the current and former members present.

@@adamposadas4163 I think they never released a dvd for it since they were on and off playing and not doing a setlist of songs and doing a concert. They did a few songs and then did something else. So they would have had to edit it hard and someone would have been tied down to capturing the video for it all weekend... The thirty year special was an all weekend event friday through sunday...
While I was going to college this was the only album that I owned. I listened to it over and over and had the whole thing memorized. I still have that old cassette (the original Banzai release, not the Electra re-issue) so it doesn't have the bonus tracks or Am I Evil? and Blitzkrieg. The labels fell off (it was on cassette tape) so I put some masking tape on at, drew the logo and wrote "this side" and "that side" like the original had. Great album that brings back some great memories (the memory remains lol!). Cheers!
The Banzai Records issue was not an "original" per se. Banzai was a Canadian "label" who pretty much bootlegged every album they ever released from other labels. They got Kill 'Em All from Megaforce Records, and knowing Banzai's history, likely never paid Megaforce (or Metallica for that matter) a single penny. Banzai never signed a band exclusively to their label. Look up Banzai's "Axe" compilation. Every single one of those songs on that "Axe" compilation came from bands that released albums for completely different labels. Yeah, you could say Banzai was a shady outfit. :)

"Jump in the Fire" is Dave Mustaine's (Megadeth) song when he was the original lead guitarist for Metallica. He gets royalties for most songs he's written for "Kill 'em All" and "Ride the Lightning" Metallica albums.
He doesn’t have a full writing credit for any Metallica song btw. James co wrote every song of Dave’s with him that he was writing credits for.
Motley Crue and Metallica were both formed in 81’
I actually recall a Metallica documentary in which James was talking about going to Motley Crue concerts before either band was signed and saying how heavy they were when they first started out.
@@brucewayne404 I don't know if that is possible because they were against that makeup metal back in the day, is true both bands were formed in 81 as the other person mentioned, but I think Motley Crue first album came up first

Yeah this is easy to play. I always tell aspiring metal guitarists to start with Kill em All & The Black Album. Tabs are easy to read & easy to play
I play 4 instruments and except from the piano all startet with Metallica :D. Drums, guitar, bass. It's all about Metallica.
First song I learned to play at the same age. Just gotta take it slow and eventually it becomes second nature.

FYI Alex when it’s time to do anesthesia I recommend doing it and whiplash at the same time considering they flow together so good. You could say anesthesia is the intro for whiplash.
The first time I heard Metallica when I was in high school (I'm 53 now) was with this song and then Whiplash. Been hooked ever since.

We are all waiting for the moment when you finally hit Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth). Cliff Burton was the key to Metallica growing, he's the reason Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets were so much bigger and better than the previous album. James and Lars are the arrangers and riff masters, but they only got there because Cliff taught them how. Anesthesia is Cliffs bass solo and it's the equivalent of Eddie Van Halens Eruption in my opinion. It's unmatchable and your life is going to change afterwards 🤘🤘🤘

Motley Crue's debut album Too Fast for Love came out in '81 I think - 2 years before Kill 'em All
At 3:00 you tapped into the spirit of this first album. The band wanted the name of the album to be “Metal up your ass!” But the label wouldn’t let them. Hence “Kill em all”

@@hiroszyma45 yeah i guess it's kinda kirk's refined version of dave's solo. you notice a few differences between dave and kirk's solos if you compare kill em all to the no life til leather demo. either way both are pretty cool.
You really need to check out the 30th anniversary show where Mustaine came out and played some of the Kill ‘Em All tracks with them.

This was the very first song,I ever heard from them.
I bought the LP single.I put it on,and was thinking,holy shit,this is the heaviest thing I've ever heard.then James started singing,and realized,oh shit,it's suppose to be at 45 speed,not 33.
I sped it up,and realized,this is still the heaviest shit I've ever heard.I just remember getting all hot.Scared.

Technically Metallica first album was a EP called No Remorse till Leather. They gave it away to promote themselves. Also No Remorse is one of the best songs. This was my first Metallica Album and the reason I fell in love with them.

This song always struck me as a Hollywoodish Metal song…kind of Shout at the Devil style…Motley Crue was actually an influence on James during their first album. He went to their shows, but then he met Lars, who teased him for being into that shit, lol!

This is one of my all-time favorite Metallica songs, and they didn’t start playing it live again until just a few years ago. If you like this one, you’ll like the entire kill em all album.

The cool thing about this song is, it has like 2 repeating patterns all the way through. Once you learn the pattern it's all about speed. This my favorite metallica song to play on guitar.

I first saw them in 1984 when this was the new album. They were the warm up band and blew Twisted Sister off the stage.

My guitar class played this every time we had a fire drill
Metallica and Motley Crue both formed in 1981. The different is that Metallica were in San Fran. in the thrash metal scene and Motley was in LA where the Glam Metal scene was.
