    Nice observation bro. I am a dyi invester too and have the same conclusion. But I figured out that we need to book profits every 4 to 5 years band and reinvest the same amount in SIP MODE again in the best fund of that time. Its very general for a MF to shoot post 5 years coz of consistent markets crashes and recoveries matching that time band. Also book profits after a market rally around 4 to 5 yrs and reinvest again in with market correction.

    Sip or lumpsum I have invested good amount of money. Now I am using profits to live these covid days as I am jobless. Don’t think too much. Keep investing............fruits are after few years, invest in best funds.with proper asset allocation.

    Thank you for this graph Pattu sir. I always wanted to contest the idea of SIP over a long duration reduces risk, but could not figure out how to evaluate. You graph showed the parameters to look at. Over a long period the corpus cg would rather lean towards the later half as generally would be increasing sip amount over the years. The fact that the nav will eventually me more and more aligned towards market fluctuations has helped me understand to certain extent what you say in many of your videos that blind sip will not work as advertised. Need to shift focus and understand asset allocation rebalancing more, my aim foe now. Thanks again

      @@rohitroll2119 Most important thing for reducing risk is to systematically rebalance your portfolio between equity and debt.sip won't help in reducing risk, sip only helps in cost averaging

    Nice observation & explanation. A mid cap fund is bound to react more to market fluctuations. I’m sure now with the. Current market situation your fund would have bounced back many fold. Few things would make this even better..
    - comparison with FD or RD over the same period of time.
    - buying of gold or gold/silver etf over a same period of time.
    - any other options you think could have given better returns.
    I guess tracking companies and investing in dips is a better way to go in the long period.
    Thanks

    It was your mistake for choosing a mid cap fund for long term sip instead of a blue chip or multicap fund. You should also have shifted your money to a better fund after you realized that this one wasn't performing well.

    • @pranabgarg
      @pranabgarg 4 роки тому

      So what are the advisors and Fund managers for? If it is our mistake we are spreading the word "Mutual Fund saahi Naahi hain" so that the fund managers & advisors are left alone! I have another example IDFC MULTICAP Fund the worst non performing AMC in India if not Globally.

    A very good analysis and analogies ! love all your videos.
    My understanding of a SIP is similar to that of dollar-cost averaging, where you tend to decrease the volatility of your investment on a target asset by investing in small portions over a longer period of time. Therefore this doesn't mean that SIP will reduce the associated market risks be it long term or short term, but it will help you to avoid a wrong timing of the market by doing a lump sum investment. Correct me if I am wrong.

      Siddhesh K - What I mean is buy in lump sum instead of SIPs. If you have 10k put all in once , if you put in 10 months NAV will be higher each month by month. If you simply follow SIP can’t make profits much . You will experiment and learn . If someone tells you don’t understand

    Very good example, MFs will not make money with SIP even if you stay invested for 10 years. And in your SIP cycle if you have 2-3 bearish years it will probably never make you any money vis a vis the risk. The longer years you will hold onto it the less returns you will get.
