  • In this video, Mini Split Leaking Water, home renovation brothers Dave and Rich show you a solution if your mini split is leaking water inside your home.
There are a couple of possible causes.
One is that your drain line could be clogged. Check your drain line and see if it is operating properly.
If the drain line isn't the problem, you probably need to clean your condenser coils. Dirty coils make the unit work harder and the unit can break down. condenser coils are located in the exterior ground unit.
You can create your own coil solution by mixing distilled water and dish soap in a spray bottle. Spray that on your fins and coils, wait a few minutes and rinse with a hose.
Another option is to purchase coil cleaner spray. We are Amazon Affiliates, we receive a small commission for qualified purchases.
WEB WCOIL19 19 oz Coil Cleaner:
    amzn.to/3Cam6FY
This Coil cleaner spray from Web is a foam solution that you spray on the fins of your condenser.
Remove any guards on your condser.
    Shake the can vigorously.
Spray the foam liberally to cover every single fin that is over your condenser coils.
Wait several minutes for the foam to penetrate the grime.
Rinse with a hose on a shower setting, don't blast it with the strongest spray because the fins could be damaged.
IMPORTANT: Let the coils dry for at least 24 hours before you turn on your mini split.
The manufacturer of the spray recommends cleaning your condenser coils twice a year in the Spring and Fall.
One can of the Coil Cleaner should clean a large condenser unit. If it is really dirty you may have to repeat the entire process using another can of the spray. For more content be sure and check us out at housebarons.com/

I have a brand new unit. Lines are draining but it still pours water inside. Inside units are level and lines are at a downhill angle. I wouldn’t go with a minisplit if I had it to do over

The outside unit being dirty won't make the inside unit leak. You have a clogged drain. A dirty condenser will just kill cooling performance. A low charge or dirty evaporator might cause Ice build up inside that could result in leaking.

      Hey M,
Yes. It froze - then thawed mimicking a leak.

The outside unit being dirty won't cause that. It will likely freeze again.

Where is the evaporator? I am having issues with bad leaks as well and have wood floors, walls and ceilings. I have used a shop vac a few times attempting to clean out drain hose from outside as well as blowing it out with a compressor and it is still leaking and building up water in the reservoir. i appreciate any help! My father installed these and recently passed so I am attempting on my own! :)

In the video your furnace flue isn’t hooked up. Not sure if the video was taken before you hooked that back up but if you haven’t you definitely need to. It could start a fire and also potentially kill you with carbon monoxide. I own a HVAC company so I’m not just blowing smoke here. This is serious.
