Who’s here after seeing S4, E4?
He was crushed for our iniquities.
I watched it even before, but this time it made a whole lot more sense because it was visualized so well. That's the main beauty of the Chosen for me - "illustrating" the Bible in such a way that reading it makes a whole lot more sense now.

A couple weeks after that episode
Dallas, and Rabbi: I just got through watching season four episode four and some of the aftershow when you talked about this scene and this UA-cam about Jesus is watching them press Oil and being so distressed. And you mentioned this UA-cam and I’m so glad you did and I got to see it. When I was watching that scene in the chosen, I thought of two things. And they confirmed here. I thought of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemene when he was sweating blood and asking that this cup, be taken from him, but I was also thinking of him being pressed with our sins and his blood being pressed out of him for our sins! And of course being so grateful that he did that for me and for everyone whoever lived if they will just accept the gift! So thank you Dallas for the wonderful program and thank you, Rabbi I watch you on TBN and I just love hearing your wisdom and messianic Jewish perspective! God bless you both! Wow, I never knew how meaningful holy olive anointing oil is. Thank you for opening up my eyes to a lot I didn't know. Thank you for the chosen. The absolute best biblical or non biblical series, movie, etc I have ever seen. Again thank you. Shalom, amen and amen 🙏 🙌
The Garden of Gethsemane is there and not built up is because when David was fleeing his son Absalom he brought the Ark of the Covenant across the valley and laid it down at that site. From then on it was considered Holy. He was anointed with nard, Spikenard which is a preparation for burial was very expensive because the plant used to make it is from the Himalayan mountains in India, along the Spice Road.
The Garden is also the location where Jeremiah speaks of the New Covenant:
"This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time, " declares the Lord.
"I will put my law into their minds and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God and they will be my people."
And during the Crucifixion they will used a sponge of Vinegar and Hyssop to Jesus. Hyssop is what the priest uses in the Burnt offering to remove people's sin. In the Psalm 51 Hyssop is used to cleanse the body of sin, to be as pure as snow. The Priests actually fulfilled all the requirements of the Torah for the sins of all people in the Passion.
You will find there is meaning in every word, references to prophecy in the Old Testament all over the actions of Jesus in the Passion.

This is so true, James, and thank you for your added research. The Chosen also makes me realize how critical it is to have the Jewish/Hebraic to get deeper insights. I just love how Rabbi Strobel shares the Hebrew context of places, words, names, events... English translations do not capture the depth of meaning(s) of the original Hebrew texts. There is meaning in every word, indeed.

One of my favorite sites to visit in Jerusalem. Understanding how olive oil is made, makes it even more beautiful. Olive trees are resilient and hardy trees, planted with generations in mind.

How many times are the olives pressed? 3 times, how many times did Jesus pray in the garden of the olive press? 3 times. And each prayer he goes deeper into the garden with more weight and "pressure" on his shoulders...same as each press of the olives, the weight pressing increases (:

When you think about the fact that the disciples fell asleep, and none of them did what He asked, it is a very concise demonstration of the fact that no one is worthy, nor were any willing or able to walk the path that He was walking. He had to do it alone...
But in going through the worst of all, in utter loneliness, He has prepared for all the Kingdom in Himself in which all that He suffered has no place, and because of the loneliness He endured, all who put their trust in Him will never again be alone...

I like the Jewish aspect of this show. It makes perfect sense that the disciples and Jesus were legitimate Jews and they had a legitimate traditional Jewish backgrounds (duh!). I didn't know of any other show that explores this. And this is an important aspect of Jesus' humanity. It also connects the Gospels and the OT well. It also answers the question of how should you read the OT and what's the legitimate way to respond to Messianic claims. Tanak you (😉), Chosen!
The crushing I am waiting for is when Jesus returns to the mount of Olives and ushers in the end of evil in this world.
I have just seen Season 4 episodes 4-6 and my mind is now blown. Wow. And to know that Dallas was looking at this 3 years ago. I am without words. The Catholic Church near the millenia old olive trees in Gethsemane contains the "Rock of the Agony," where Jesus lay in prayer during His time in the Garden Holy Thursday night. The rock appears to be bloodstained.

Beautiful video ,thank you! I went to Israel for the first time this year and the moment The plane landed I could feel God‘s hand on the country. When We were in the garden of Gethsemane it was almost as if you could hear the breath of Jesus.. there was a stillness in silence.we also learned that the roots of an olive tree are eternal they never die, although he trees will at some point. Psalms 52:8 but I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God I will always trust in God‘s unfailing love❤️
It’s interesting how the reason for Jesus giving Himself up in such a way was out of love for God and love for humanity - He fulfilled the Law

@@Tawadeb Fortunately, I know where His death took place. To visit everything Jesus was at... I wouldn't be able to describe it in words.
I think we should remember that Jesus was sinless but the Apostles weren't. And they came from a Passover supper where there was a considerable amount of wine consumed. I'm not saying that they were drunk but the effect from the wine had made them sleepy and maybe that's why they couldn't stay awake to pray with Jesus. That is a good observation though of the number three in all of it. Thank you for sharing this.
Rebecca M If that were true, Jesus would not have reprimanded them. He was exhorting them to be vigilant & pray. Great trials awaited them. Most probably, they were overwhelmed by what Jesus was preparing them for.

And the greatest history point- there may be some olive trees there that were alive when Jesus was there to pray! Another interesting fact of the olive tree - when the trunk goes dormant - the root system is still alie until one day 100-200-300 years later - a netzer pops up to start producing olives, again. Hence the correct name in Matthew 2:23 in Hebrew - the city of Netzeret (not Nazareth) where David's clan from Bethlehem moved when Antiochus Epiphanes came to Jerusalem - they relocated - that's why Joseph and Mary had to return to Bethlehem for taxes and the census. One of the most annoying things that preachers do when they go to Israel is pointed camera at themselves more than Israel itself.
As a Christian, I’m more interested in seeing where Jesus walked than where you are sitting. So many churches spend more time glorifying themselves that they just don’t get it. In fact they’ve lost it.

We discovered my wife was pregnant on Valentine’s Day. I asked God to give me a name for my unborn daughter the other day. My wife (who is on the verge of faith) came to me that day with the name Olivia. Olivia Marie (Lord willing), my first daughter, is due to enter the world on Labor Day.

People with worldly pursuits don't understand why in hebrew Gethsemane means OIL PRESS. The 5 wise virgins has received their oil for their lamps in their suffering. They put their husband's to death and they grieved over their denial of self. Becoming sorrowful even onto death
Great insight with the Rabbi--need more of his insights: Have you gone up to the caves above the Garden of Gethsemani, where the disciples and Christ may have hidden out to avoid the soldiers wrath? Especially while they were sleeping? (and Christ was praying?)...these caves lend a much more first century air to the story (than the grove next to a basilica)--also--go out into the olive groves on the other side of the road next to the church (further east)--that is a much large grove of olive trees and is more of a wild and rocky hillside, as it would have been at the time of Jesus (with no roads and buildings)...these men were being 'hunted' and they were trying to escape the wrath of the priests who were calling out the Roman guards (this hunting was being driven by the Jewish priests--this was not a matter of interest to the Romans, for the most part)--so background: why were the priest so angry and why were Jewish priests to be feared? answer that question and you will get closer...Zepherelli's Christ is close (but too English)...dts/usa
Olives are a delicacy we put in tamales and also is my last name in Spanish. Every Christmas, I would hear my grandparents joke and say to me, "How dare you not eat your olives!!! Are you ashamed of your last name?" Only because I thought the taste to be bitter.
It was not until my first pregnancy that cravings led me to adore the taste of olives and also learn what my last name is about. RIP my grandparents ❤ it was a great UA-cam recommendation ❤

From there the prophecy Isaiah 53, He was scourged for our sins, as He was beaten by the soldiers and He then was raised on the cross. We see it all, from Gethsemane and to the cross Him paying the price for our sins with His blood, every drop counts, not just on the cross, but every drop spilled was for us, the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

Messiah = Christ and Christ means TRUTH, not anointed like we've all been taught to believe.
Jesus is TRUTH, it's the TRUTH we follow into Life, we are to obey Truth, not an anointed one. Furthermore, Jesus has NOT been anointed yet, except for his burial. Christ means Truth, hence anti christ means a LIE or LIAR/the devil lies. Every heard of anti-anointed? is it possible to get the oil back off someones head after they've been anointed? Quit believing the LIARS, read your own KJV and THINK. ...and King Saul was anointed. . . and the trumpster too.
In Hebrew Jesus is called Yeshua HaMashiach. Mashiach (Messiah) literal translation is "The Anointed One". Of course he is the TRUTH he says that of himself in John 14:6 I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. I agree read your Bible and study Greek and Hewbrew and use Strong's concordance. Be blessed.

I use only the KJV and Noah Webster's 1828 English Dictionary for my books. I do use the Bible Gateway website for ease in finding all the verses in which a word is used, and that's all for materials.
Several years ago, I spent about 5 years proving the KJV and who King James I was and who King James II was and that controversy too. I've listened to many teachers and received some good and left the bad. We've been warned that the devil deceives the WHOLE world, so I often asked: where have I been deceived? and why did Santa lie about this? I am most confident that English is a perfect language and God himself chose English to be the worldwide end time language for all people of His earth. Proof? Every nation, every one of them have folks that speak English. It is a perfect language and most beloved by all the world, except maybe us Americans who have been taught that it is hard to read and understand...??? Yet, every day millions of folks are learning English and say 'this is such a wonderful language with such descriptive words.'
I read the KJV as a child would, asking 'Why does it say that? and Who are these people? and where else can I find this phrase, name, word, idea, promise ect...
Hebrew is fine, except that FEW folks read Hebrew, even in Israel; and today's Hebrew was established in part from American English (few folks ever look deep enough to learn this.) As for the Greeks, hmmmm Greece is the third kingdom in Daniel's dream; Paul warned us that the Grecian's are always liars, and those Greeks love to align themselves with the Romans, roaming from the TRUTH!!! Greek philosophy is the study of man, NOT God. They have always been twisters of words, preferring more education over simple believing. We ought to come to the Word of God as little children and trust His simple easy to understand Word, the KJV.
Yes, I am very passionate for the Truth as I've been lied to my whole entire life, even since birth. It is the TRUTH that makes us FREE and only one simple lie can damn us to Hell-o, forever.

This information is really eye opening, fascinating. Love it ! but Dallas, Easter? Show me where Easter was in the Bible, or in Jesus life or the life of any of his disciples or any of those people we've met in four seasons now. Even Dallas must not be seeing this. Easter is completely pagan. Look it up and ask why children in churches are still being taught Easter or "resurrection Sunday" is EVEN a thing.
Jesus WAS Passover. He DID Passover. It is important we start to wake up to this. God's Feasts, not "Jewish" feasts. The Jews are just the two tribes plus some of the Levites, who actually kept them all these years. They are called appointed times, Moedim in Hebrew. They are appointments with God. He asks us to follow and understand them and learn from them. All of the fall feasts point to the second coming of Messiah. Christmas does not. Christmas is pagan and so is Easter. Golden calf like pagan. We need Jesus the Passover Lamb, not Tamuz Easter Ishtar ham.

Jesus is TRUTH, it's the TRUTH we follow into Life, we are to obey Truth, not an anointed one. Furthermore, Jesus has NOT been anointed yet, except for his burial. Christ means Truth, hence anti christ means a LIE or LIAR/the devil lies. Every heard of anti-anointed? is it possible to get the oil back off someones head after they've been anointed? Quit believing the LIARS, read your own KJV and THINK. ...and King Saul was anointed. . . and the trumpster too.
The question today is i guess. Are Saints today willing to die to self and endure the crushing to receive the oil. To have our lamps full of oil when our Lord and Saviour returns.

To produce olive oil in the Savior’s time, olives were first crushed by rolling a large stone over them. The resulting ‘mash’ was placed in soft, loosely woven baskets, which were piled one upon another. Their weight expressed the first and finest oil. Then added stress was applied by placing a large beam or log on top of the stacked baskets, producing more oil. Finally, to draw out the very last drops, the beam was weighted with stones on one end to create the maximum, crushing pressure. And yes, the oil is bloodred as it first flows out.”
