Dan. Im a IRL trk driver. 48states. Heavy haul van etc. 10plus exp. I also play this game. Not bragging. Just saying. U pulling this type of load in ATS is difficult. Props to u for doing very well. Definitely have advice on approach in turn with different loads sizes weights freight type etc. Tips on trk setup. Transmission/ diff ratio engine to use etc. Hope the channel continues to grow. Your definitely engaged with your content. Again keep up the great work man.
That vid u did was good for never hauling oversized irl. I had my opinion on some of your setups for turns. But you know the physical reactions to a trk/trl. Now I kinda feel like i insulted ya. U may of said u was retired driver and I didnt hear it. Lol.
Absolutely a great video. Just a guess (because I ain't no driver like you) but I'll bet if you just jockeyed your tractor back in forth a few times the trailer would have been in position to allow the drop. I only say this because I am a real rookie at parking trailers and I often get trailers in the box and my tractor cocked very sideways. I think I can hear the guys in the yard laughing their ass off. Thanks again Dan.
My understeer was so bad I couldn't go over 30mph in any corner. I had to carefully drive to a repair shop. And make the chassis of a Peterbilt 389 as long and as heavy as possible with headache rack, bullbar, horns, cab lights, and etc.
That would be handy. I forgot to include the "No Damage" file. That solves the problem of getting rear ended all the time by AI not being able to figure out how long the load is.

Man i can't wait till i can get myself a really good gaming PC so i can play this game. I want a gaming PC that i can run graphics at full and with mods adding to the graphics.i don't want to have to worry about it crashing. i wish they'd add tire blowouts on here and roadside fixes also DOT inspection's. I think having a tire blowout would really add to the game and it not tell you it happens you have to find out on your own, also they should have your chains come loose and you have to tighten them so it makes you check your loads like you really should
All really great ideas! I like the random failure idea and the DOT inspections. They are a bummer in real life though! Good luck getting a PC. Maybe in the after Christmas Sales? I think the best ones are like a month after Christmas.
That would be cool. I guess if we stick around long enough things like that might happen eIther through mods or SCS. They are getting into AI generated scenery which should speed up the pace of DLC development. WhO knows what else it's going to bring!
180 ton load being hauled by a 6 x 4 I shudder to think how slow that goes. I love an 8 x 6 that isn't the w900 because of it's weird turn radius. Peterbilt works fine, always max out my transmission and engine for easier transport.
Brandon, I add some weight to the truck axles and make it a 6 x 6 using the supplied open def from Jon Ruda. For his Highway Killer I add weight to the rear axles but go big on the steering axle. I also disable automatic drop of the lift axles. That way if I am getting in trouble with a really tight turn where the truck won't steer, I can lift the drop axle.
@@danmcnarry you know much more about heavy hauling than I do. I was nearly a truck driver but it didn't work out. Going to try and be a welder in the next few years. "If ye can't make it in college, make it in the trades" as my old man used to say.
@@thevashfan12392 I worked as a welder and machinist with stints as a heavy duty and oil rig mechanic thrown in until I was well into my 30's. It was in my mid 30's when I got into trucking. After that it was IT. Jack of all trades, master of none!
Very interesting haul. I was going to ask you where I can get the trailer as a joke but after seeing 5 requests it wouldn't be that funny. That trailer's footprint makes absolute sense. It's like walking on thin ice, you are better off laying down to spread your weight and 175,000 Tons would require a lot of distribution to not damage the pavement, not to mention the strain on the tires. I watched a video on UA-cam a few months ago on some trucking company owner/operator describing how much of a non skilled job it is to drive trucks. He clearly thinks little of his drivers and wants to pay as little as possible. I guess it's nice that trucks are now automatic but until they can maneuver through the mine field that is the average car driver and line up the trailer with a loading dock without wrecking every piece of equipment around them I think he would be better off hiring skilled drivers instead of acquiring higher insurance premiums. I have never driven a truck but I worked as a courier for 20 years and witnessed the dumbest people pulling up to 4 way stops after a truck has and getting in their right of way. I always stay back 40 feet or so to let them complete their turn and you can see the gratitude in their face. I rambled on too long. Awesome trailer and load.
Nicely said Jamie! On all counts. If people had any imagination at all they would understand what is required of a driver on a daily basis. If they could see into the stuff I used to do during a whole lot of off road and winter driving up North on winter roads, their minds would melt!
Hey so you know the highway's are made to handle tanks and other military vehicles. People think the highway's were made for them but were actually made for the military to get to other states by driving.
I'm hopelessly hooked on Euro Truck Sim. Is American Truck Sim also worth getting? All I know of American roads is that they are very long and very straight - I find the constant long motorway driving to be boring at times in ETS, so it's stopped me buying ATS.
Cool, I went to or more often through Grand Prairie quite often on my trips further North IRL. Mostly in the winter when the drilling activity was happening due to the freeze up. Small World!
You should of never stopped at 32:00 when crossing both train tracks because your ass end was on the tracks you just check both at once and just go unless you're able to fit in between them otherwise stay moving for safety
Well, maybe it needed repair? Or, it was an interesting fictitious load in a fictitious game....I don't know. It was fun even though highly unrealistic in terms of speed, no escorts etc. The real life Trail King TK 360 is a sight to behold. Search UA-cam for videos of the real thing. You won't be disappointed.
Hey there TT. It's just a trailer mod that costs around $15 or 20. Can't remember which. It's fun but can be a little frustrating at times. It is based on a real trailer.
The point is to spread the load on the ground out over as large an area as possible. If the trailer was shorter with the same amount of wheels, you would over stress the ground you are on and cause damage to the road structure. The trailer in the video is a real life trailer and videos of it in use are available on You Tube. The real life ones can alter the width of the track hydraulicly when the trailer is in motion to further spread out the distribution of weight and increase load stability. It's not everybody's cup of tea but I find the engineering facinating.
