  • In this short Revit tutorial I walk through some options for modeling curtain wall corner in Autodesk Revit. We talk about butt-glazing corners, standard corners, and more...

    Another way to get a quite nice looking glass corner is using a corner mullion with the same glass material and thickness as the glass panel. This also gives a nice angled glass corner when needed.

    The cleanest join would be using a transparent glass wall type as a curtain panel. Walls join perfectly, even in curtain wall. First you need to let them join by using no offset. After they have joined, you can make an offset and they still maintain the join.

    Hey cool video and guess what ! I figured out how to make the glass panels meet clean at the corners!.
    If your glass is 1inch thick, make the glass offset at - 1/2 inch ....yes negative value !!!!

    Here is good question: in a mid rise building where we have 2 materials (glass curtain + masonry), how can you merge the corner of the curtain walls (like your video) and get a clean corner? For instance, you will have walls on top and bottom and some where in the middle, you will have a curtain wall system.

      Hey William, I need an image or something to fully understand the detail you are trying to model...

    Good Presentation my friend, just one little question, in a basic wall you can set the center line of the wall to face of the wall, center of core , interior face etc.. but if you create a storefront wall the center line of the wall will default to center. is there a way to modify the location of the wall reference to face of system. the reason why is that when you dimension a storefront or curtainwall, you don't dimension to the center but rather dimension it to the face. please advise. thanks, ricky

      Yes you can! Each element of the curtain system can be offset from the center.... That is how you would create a wall that has the system "exterior" face, etc...

    Still no way to do a angled corner mullion unfortunately, which is the most common type in facades.

      Yup that was a bit of a click bait as the video thumbnail shows a corner angled million

      Oops... Yeah, I wasn't trying to be misleading with that thumb... I made 15 thumbs that day and had about 5 different details in the folder. I have, however, seen some workaround similar to this for the angled corner mullion. Custom mullion profile, disallow join, adjust, etc...

    I have a question regarding corner mullion. How would we do it if we had a 105 or 135 angle?

    Great but I would have appreciated it if they closed into an almost clean Corner with the Glass

    • @dantheman3022
      @dantheman3022 3 роки тому +2

      just do what he said but make the offset minus half inch etc so they overlap giving the clean corner. then use less obtrusive mullions.

    I willing to pay you money if you can help me? Say you have a high rise building with 45 deg mullions at corners in lieu of square. How do you clean up the edges where the glass and mullion meets the "45deg mullion "at the corner?

    Revit is really only good for standard architecture.
    anything else you can model ........................but then all the schedules, property calculations, dimensions....... etc are totally stuffed
