I’ve been watching Dave for the last four years. He ordered a margarita pie which simply isn’t his style. I remade a pizza based on style not on quality. And we weren’t all standing outside to put pressure on Dave. We all believe in our product and we were excited to be in a One Bite review. The score was awesome but the experience alone was once in a lifetime. I’m just a pizza guy from a small town in Jersey and I am committed to making the same quality pizza for anyone who comes to Marcellos. Ask for Chuck. Love you all.

i guessed 8.2 on this one and wasnt disappointed... i think remaking the pie always is a bit of a hint and fair enough loweres the score a tiny bit, spectacolous looking pie tho, i think it has gotten the right score
it definitely does, Dave either knowingly or subconciously knows if there's the staff outside and he gives a high 8+ some people will assume it's staged. Not that I think Dave cares what those few people think, but I'm sure he wants his reviews to be as revered for pizza joints as a Michelin star is for high end places.
Especially coupled with they remade the pizza once they realized it was him. Forget the excuses, that's what happened and it was all so important for a guy that has "watched Dave for years" as he says. He knows the rules.
The less details we get about the pizza, the higher the score. If Dave gives a taste description, it isn’t going to go well. If Dave goes quiet, high score coming up 🍕
That is an insane score. You guys have never gone to any of the places he's reviewed I can tell. A true pizza enthusiast takes the score from Dave and goes and tries it himself, not bashing on one of the highest rated scores of all time. 8.2 on his scales Is a 9+ on anyone elses

I LOOOOVE Marcello's. Pizza aside, everything else is also delicious; just an all-around great restaurant. Bordentown city is a go-to spot for awesome food. So many great places to eat on one street!
I'm jealous. Wonderful place, I am on the opposite coast, unfortunately. I have dear friends from Jersey, and I must attest, they are salt of the Earth. It's a testament to the American way, a hard working man can get a slice of heaven, with good friends.

Dave's going to look back in 10 years time and realize he underrated these places, new pizza spots simply don't make pies like this anymore. Coal fired tomato pies you just can't recreate it.

Hey, this pie was looking fantastic! Loved the viva La Stool sticker. Nuff said. Very proud and enthusiastic crew. Ironically, it's integrity. This cost a few tenths, it just has to. Still, I'd be elated to sit for a pizza there, it looked fantastic, and Dave had to gobble the crap out of that thing, it speaks volumes. I tip my hat to Marcello's.
I grew up in Hamilton NJ, in the same general area as Bordentown and Robinsville. Delorenzo's before the family went their separate ways was hands down best pizza. Dave you got a decent taste of a good pie. Sorry you couldn't experience the magic back in the old days.
Honestly, the prep and baking of that pie, I thought for sure it would be an 8.9 but damn, 8.2 still GREAT, wanna eat that pizza, looked HELLA GOOD!!!!....
That's being way too generous, if you wanted to be generous 8.5 tops, but that's on the Dave Portnoy well done edge, well done center, good undercarriage, and thin checkboxes. The center of this pie wasn't very well done.
I love right up the street from Marcellos on Bordentown and I always get the Big Ben pizza, some of the best pizza I have ever had! NJ definitely has the best pizza! 🍕❤

I used to live/hang out in Bordentown alot, hit Marcellos for Sicilian Margheritas.. Wings were good back in the day (6yrs) even picked up the occasional cannoli. Man this was nostalgic shout out bordentown 08520 and Erin, EDubz I love you!
I grew up in New Jersey eating tomato pies made by the old time Green Horns straight off the boat from Naples. (I bet you don't know what Green Horn means, LOL). They were some of the best pizzas I ever had including pizza in Italy.
I swear to God I guessed 8.2 for the score. When Dave has trouble putting the slice down and keeps going in for more you know it's gonna be a good score . Looks delicious.
I guessed the score right again. The place cheated though. If you really wanted an unbiased score, you'd ask your cameraman to buy it, or at least order it. But I think Dave likes the attention and the stories he gets when he comes in. I would too, so I don't blame him.
I paused the video and havent seen the score yet but I will say once again, it is sooo freaking lame for the owner/chef/manager or whoever to stand right in Daves face to "boost" the score because we know Dave is now soft and gives higher scores when that is the case... look dude, that pizza looks great, you cooked extra, really took care of it for Dave just let your work get you the proper score. I would start giving it -1 if someone is trying to put the pressure on lol because idk how to take these scores anymore. anyways, ill finish watching it now

Weird tidbit - Napoleon Bonaparte's older brother Joseph (Giuseppe di Buonaparte) was King of Naples and Spain when Napoleon was in power, he fled to the US and lived in Bordentown, NJ after Napoleon lost power. He lived there for almost 30 years. The King of Naples lived in central Jersey! Just another reason this area grew to have the best pizza!
Everyone crying for a higher score don't know the old Dave. Cut throat Dave is the most honest reviews you can get, don't pressure him into giving higher scores to put a smile on a bunch of rookies. High 8s and 9s are earned not given.

Everyone crying for a higher score don't know the old Dave. Cut throat Dave is the most honest reviews you can get, don't pressure him into giving higher scores to put a smile on a bunch of rookies. High 8s and 9s are earned not given.
Based on the visual and Dave's reaction I was expecting mid to upper 8's but 8.2 is still an excellent score. The pie looked great.

This place is awesome! Can't wait to see the Pizzaiolo Portland vid, everybody saying prez came to town and I know hands down that's the best pie in northern new england and it ain't even close

I think I left a comment after the palermos review the other day that Dave is gonna find out that the Trenton area has the best pizza. Since it rarely happens for me and I like to say it so much , let me just say - I told you so.
