Portfolio underwriters usually manage a portfolio of business and are responsible for underwriting any new business needs and renewing policies within the portfolio so usually there are multiple lines of business within a portfolio.
Hey! I really enjoy your videos. I recently got a position for endorsement underwriting. We handle all lines of business and all mid term endorsements. I’m starting to notice that this job wouldn’t be that transferable to other companies. Do you feel like I would need to move within the company to branch underwriting/renewals to be able to move elsewhere?
I actually think it would be transferable. You would have to set up your skills and responsibility from this job the right way on your resume so that it sticks out to recruiters. I think it's actually a perfect way into an underwriting position after you get some experience.
