  • In today's video we take a look at another ‪@HecklerKochTV‬ VP9. This time it is the HK VP9 Match. Spoiler alert - I liked almost everything about this gun. We begin the video with range session followed by a table-top review. What are your thoughts on the HK VP9 Match? Would you buy one? If yes/no why? I look forward to your comments. I'd like to thank my friend Karl for lending me his HK VP9 Match for this video review. Thank you for stopping by and God Bless.

    Great video. I've been shooting since 1980 and mostly S&W and a few Colts and one day I decided to try something new. I purchased an HK VP 9 and it was love at first shot. I'm an HK fanatic because of the ergonomics, the quality build and I'm a lefty and love the paddle mags.

    After handling one in the store, I absolutely fell in love all over again with the VP9.
    I loved my original VP9 when it first came out years ago, and it was my competition handgun of choice, that and my USP 45 tactical. I hope I can snag just a VP9 match upper to put on my frame, rather than buying a whole other VP9. The one in the store was the inferior button mag release version as well so my interest tanked but the gun itself besides that just felt *right* to me.
    EDIT: Oh snap 4 20 round magazines? Thats like, 240 bucks right there, making this pistol more like 750-760 bucks if you think about it that way. Heck of a deal if you ask me.
    I wonder if those 20 rounders fit in the P30 models as well considering theyre the same magazine design? I just wonder if the big extension interferes with the P30 or not

    • @MDpolo
      @MDpolo  2 роки тому

      I don’t know if you can buy the VP9 Match slide as a kit like you can with the VP9L. It would be sweet if you can! Regarding the mags, I’ll have to dig out my P 30 and see if they are interchangeable. But yeah, if you factor out the cost of the mags, the pistol is a great deal. Thank you very much for watching!

      I owned the G34 and G17L. Sold the G34. It's not as comfortable or fun to shoot as the longer, hard to find limited production G17L.
      Don't bother with the Glocks. Go right to the HK's because of the superior grip panels and back strap choices. It really makes all Glock models seem like a Ford Pinto compared to a BMW or Mercedes. Glocks are very good but bypass that station. Go directly to H&K.

  • @RidersRange
    @RidersRange 2 роки тому +3

    Nice, thorough review, as I've come to expect from your channel. H&K serves the consumer well with a very nice gun and 4 mags, for less than $1,000 out the door. I would rather pay a little extra for a good metal optics plate to fit a specific red dot, than have several plastic plates included. (HK webstore has plates for $30, though some are out of stock and their website doesn't say if they are metal or polymer. HK Parts has metal plates for $50.) Staccato2011 and some CZ models are going that way. And I really do like the European paddle-style mag release, though that seems to be contrary to popular opinion. The only thing missing from your review was some shooting at 25 yards. After all, this is a "match" gun.

    • @MDpolo
      @MDpolo  2 роки тому +1

    I really hate that we have to say that too. I even had a gun that came with a red dot mounted to the gun from the factory, stated that in my video, have a disclaimer in the description, and they still gave me the dreaded yellow $.
    Anyway, great video! Looks like it shoots pretty well.

      +Affordable Armory - It is ridiculous. Recently I uploaded a video on the CZP 10 F. The pistol is 100% factory stock. Around the 16 minute mark, I show a factory stock Glock 41 for size comparison. The Glock has a light mounted on it. That was considered showing a modified weapon and thus demonetized the video. I was told by UA-cam directly that our type of videos can be demonetized by content, title or hashtags. It is sad that such an important platform turned into such an un-American corporation. Thank you very much for watching. I enjoy your videos as well.

    I had an option between this gun, and a S&w M&P 5'' Performance Center. I went with the Smith. Couldn't get over the stupid paddle, and yes I know they make a button version - but with an Apex drop in trigger the M&P is roughly the same price as the Stock VP9L and you get a better all around package once you get the Apex in it. Not to mention it comes with all of the optic plates already in the box.
    That was my $0.02. Other people may not see it how I did. I already have an M&P Shield Plus, and Shield Plus 4'' performance center and with the quality of those pistols I know the 5''' will be right at home in my collection.
    I'm sure I'll buy the VPL or VP9L Match at some point as well, just with the button magazine release version. They look like awesome guns.

    It doesn’t differ enough from some of the Glocks I’ve customized to my liking for me to purchase but if I were to buy a VP9, this would be it. Unlike some people, I do like that extra length on my iron sighted home defense and competitive pistols. I look at it as a freebie. You get the extra sight radius and velocity and since you’re not carrying it, you’re not sacrificing conceal-ability. Add night sights of your liking and a light and you’d be good to go.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange 2 роки тому +8

      I carried a Glock of one model or another for 24 years and I still have several, but Glock can't come close to the grip and control ergonomics of the VP9 series. And one has to pay more for an aftermarket Glock trigger to equal a factory VP9 trigger. All that is why H&K prices are higher than Glock, but by the time you spend $$ on upgrading a Glock, you are in the price range of a VP9 - or higher.

      @Rider's-Range late to the party. But glocks are trash compared to an HK. Out of my armory. The only thing we have that is like a little brother to the VP9 is the smith and wesson M&P 9 2.0. The ergonomics are almost there to a VP9 and the way the gun functions, like the polymer being reinforced with metal. But as of right now, Glock will not reach the level of performance of VP9 for at least 10 years. Custom models don't count. You end up spending more money to get the gun to perform like a vp9, and it's costing you twice as much. I learned my lesson when I got a Zev. If you want a match/ comp pistol, you might as well have a VP9 match and call it day and not waste so much money.

    Throwing brass like a G3, a bit far back too. Has USP elite vibes. Not keen on slide cuts when there are small radii and sharp edges meet up. Maybe that's just me but your channel has a more clean, factoid, classy feel to it than other reviews and the rock/psychodelic segue rips me out of the mellow enjoyment. In Europa the Match comes with a lighter trigger and a magwell and the 20 rds magazines but unfortunately it isnt IPSC competition legal. So costly modifications are neccessary and then you loose out to "the" CZ IPSC Standard Minor gun, the CZ TS(o)/2 with its 20 rds flush fitting mags (fits into the box). The great accuracy of the barrel is harder to use on this 8oo gram gun than on a 1240 gram gun, which barrel might not be as technically accurate as the HK barrel, but because of the greater mass and weight the gun stays more steady during the trigger press. I like the H&K VP9, I got a few L versions with optics and without, and use them in IPSC production and IPSC production optics, but I think I will pass on the "match" as it doesnt really give me a benefit. In germany with the dedicated club-matches and speciality matches it might make sense, but I doubt it catches on elsewhere. The only "benefit" might be the frame with the lighter trigger, but I think you can achieve this on a regular VP9 with a simple spring kit as well.

    I’m not sure what matches this pistol was intended for ? It’s not legal for IPSC Production Optics due to barrel length. I guess it’s ok for USPSA if it fits in the box ? It’s not a Bullseye pistol ? My SPF9L OR PB is a great gun and already very accurate , but when using an optic, as I assume that most would install, the longer sight radius on the Match isn’t much of a necessity. If you have a 5” OR VP9L , that would likely perform as well as the Match in any practical shooting competition. HK’s are pretty bombproof and I’m sure this variant is as well.

      Good questions. I’m not a competitive shooter so I cannot speak to that. But I can tell you is that not only it’s a sweet looking pistol, but it shoots like a dream. Thank you very much for watching.
