As a lefty in CA I fell in love with the P2000 being full ambi before the recent additions to roster. Happy to see us getting what most in the USA can get soon
I've had my Vp9 L - O.R since February. If I would've known how unconcerned HK is with it's customers, I never would've bought it! Messaged Walther ONE time requesting a plate for Wife's Q-5 and I had it 2 weeks later.....free.
After years of shooting Glocks and Sigs I discovered the VP9 and never looked back. Easily the best ergonomics and grip angle that fit me the best and thus, I shoot it the best. I did remove the cocking assist ears and installed factory flat ones. Also changed out the backplate for a solid aluminum plate, eliminating the round cocking indicator window. This gave me a much cleaner sight picture and honestly I had no use for the ears or the cocking indicator.
I bought the standard OR VP9 and I added the XS suppressor height sights as an addon. It cost $99 + associated fees so $300 is not too bad considering it’s already got the XS suppressor height sights making the slide about $200. I’m shocked, I have two RMR plates that was easy to acquire, but all my handguns are fitted with a Holosun 507c which use the same RMR cut. I just bought the VP9 SK OR and can’t wait until the Holosun SCS hits. the streets, no optics plate needed! Like the glock MOS it’ll negate the need for suppressor height sights on both VP9 and VP9 SK.
I just went this route, before seeing your video. I too already had a VP9 LE so... Tactical OR slide, Holosun HS507C, SilencerCo threaded barrel, two sets of guide rod/springs (18 & 20), TLR-8 and custom kydex to carry it all. LOVE this gun. Only gun I love better is my PPQ 5", but too big to carry. ;-)
Hk parts has all the optics plates, get the steel ones and they fit perfectly. $45 Currently running DeltaPoint Pro on my vp9 v3 and it runs perfectly.
VP9 tactical is absolute favorite striker fire. If you’re looking for a good optic , I recommend the EPS Carry by Holosun with #8 plate. The regular EPS hangs over the side and looks like a refrigerator on top, the EPS Carry is perfect and enclosed.
The journey to build a dream gun is a story that happens all too often but rarely told by countless gun owners. For the time, trouble, and almost the money, people will say you coulda got an optic ready glock, sig, M&P, CZ, FN, etc. All that said, I completely understand thrill/agony hunting for upgraded parts, second thought investments and the sentiment of getting better with a gun that you're already good with. Sick gat dude!
This looks similar to my vp9 setup. Found the vp9 tactical on sale for 699. Hk also had a promotion going for 200 dollars to spend at their hk store. Got the rmr plate and a few 20 round magazines. I have a holosun 407c and a tlr1 hl on it. Looking to get a suppresor holster and the silencerco spectre 9.
I tried to put a CHPWS plate on my VP9. Took months to arrive. Got it installed and didn’t sit correctly wasn’t level or straight. I threw it away and got a plate from HK. Got on their notification list and ordered it as soon as I was notified. This was a little more than 2 years ago. But I do need to switch to the higher sights to co-witness.

I have a VP9 Tactical that I bought a few months before the pandemic. I'm almost sure I got one the last (if not THE last) Tactical model in the US. I knew that some H&K parts were hard to find and expensive, but not THAT expensive. Personally I won't mill my VP9 for a Red Dot for now. I already have half a dozen handguns with optics and I like the idea to have some "old school" guns to keep training with iron sights. Seeing the prices on those parts, now I don't feel bad for paying full MSRP on mine. lol
If you have a VP9 Tactical, why would you need to mill the slide for an optic? The VP9 Tactical comes with a threaded barrel, optics plate pre-installed, and 17rd mags.
Love the vp9 but having an older model it's a bit disappointing how much has to go into it just to get it ready for an optic. Still debating on whether or not to do all this to make my edc better or get a different platform entirely.
I just got the long slide with suppressor height sights, O-ring barrel, guide rod and optics cut for $370 from Optics Planet. Just wish the sights were the night sight ones. Did you do anything internally? I had to upgrade the firing pin shroud to an aluminum one. Having plastic inside there seemed odd to me. I also opted for the solid back plate since I saw debris could get in and cause a hiccup in a stressful situation. So I closed it off.
I have a VP9 that is a couple years old. I recently bought an optic cut slide for it from HK. Recent as in a year ago. I am still trying to get the RMR optic plate from HK. The plates are available from HK Parts, but at almost twice the price. What I would really like is an optic cut slide for my VP9 SK. Do you know if they are available anywhere?
I don’t think the slide for the SKs have even been made yet, as far as the plate ya they are brutal check out the CHPWS plate at this point it seems to be still a great option although it is also salty
I wouldn’t say they are dropping the ball per say dropping of the models is probably just major production challenges, and the SD as you’ll see in the full review of it I think is just a somewhat flawed design
@@jololol7158 I bought a HK VP9 Tactical and the next month they announced the optics ready version. In retrospect, I’m glad I got the older version, it’s a way to force myself to train with iron sights and don’t get lazy (I have four other pistols that are optics ready, but the VP9 is my favorite over them).
Aye bro what holsters do you end up liking the most for your vp9? I have a streamlight tlr 7A on my vp9 and just wanted to see what your recommendations were
To be honest with you I haven’t really found one yet, I run a light comparable ragnarok for it without the can and that’s pretty solid. With the suppressor I run a Ragnarok SD and that left a lot to be desired.
Have you ever gotten a blister from the take down lever getting too hot? (a UA-camr with a gun channel claimed that happened to him with his VP9)...only one report that I'm aware of).
….. never lol I find that hard to believe I mean it’s possible but god damn that gun has to be hot lol. I definitely wouldn’t say that’s a common problem
Anderson C yeah I've heard about that guy too. With several thousand rounds through my VP9 (and yes part of my thumb rests on the takedown lever as well) I have never once felt any uncomfortable heat.
Interesting. I was looking for this exact remedy. The other option is to run unsuppressed (ok for cc) but I was looking at chest/shoulder holsters to accommodate the long supressor. Honestly, this is worth considering BEFORE laying down cash for a supressor. Some cans are pretty large, others long,, others have that offset style that can interfere with tac lights. :/
It's not an issue anymore, but $270 for an optics plate is ridiculous. People are comical for paying those prices for a plate. They could've just gotten their slide milled at that point
Well there’s different schools of thought however in this case I was testing a new holster that actually wasn’t working to well and each time it didn’t feel like it was seating properly which is why I was looking more 😂
Well I would say that makes it crap usually they have 13.5x1 left hand threads. Which although those are common US threads they actually prevent the suppressor from constantly trying to thread itself off the gun.
HK expensive? Let me intro you to SIG. 226 slide with optics cut no barrel or guide rod an spring and it comes with standard ht sites. $500. Yep mags $50 each. As my 226 sits with Steiner mps threaded barrel and all $3000. Not including the obsidian 45 and 15 mags. Now let me tell you about the SIG 227. $250 for discontinued 14 round mags. $3700 into that gun. HK not for the poors?? Please.
