In The One, things begin to turn dangerous. Her control is slipping and the Queen is willing to do anything to make that love happen. She’s willing to kill off the competition: “I want to kill all the love that's for you, So only mine remains”. The lyrics also go from “let me be the one” to “I *will be* the one”. When in character, Dany will spit out the final “for you to love me back” in furious, frustrated rage. Events are about to occur which cannot be undone.

I actually don't particularly like this, and Stalker even more, not because they're bad songs, but because they're scary, and I don't enjoy that for entertainment. But this part of the story *is* frightening, and they wrote the songs very well for their purpose and Dany's portrayal of the character is first rate.
There are plenty of hard rock and metal bands who have written violent songs and performed absurd stage antics with all manner of special effects. Dany, Pau, and Ale don't need any of that to vividly tell their story.

@@robertkrawitz8237 That's a great thing about TW - no gimmicks, no costumes, no cleavage, no stage shows, just pure talent.

What you may be hearing is that two other songs came out of the writing process of the song "UGH". UGH was very difficult for them to write and finish and different versions or pieces of UGH became two other songs on the album. One is "The Sacrifice" and the other is this song, "The One". So, their may be some similarities or chord progressions that may sound familiar already.
Once you listen to any The Warning song more than once it grows on you.
It is also that during this song she is starting to go from an innocent crush to unhealthy obsession, therefore the song is kind of purposely disjointed (key change at the chorus, etc.)
BTW, all or most of the lyrics in this album are taking place in her own head. It is her multiple personalities talking to each other.
Yes, they record their own backing tracks, some piano, guitar, synth, other effects like guitar feedback.

I love this version form Lunario because they have nice sparkly outfits and the audio is just so clean, you can really hear each of there voice's or at least I can. As for comparing them to any other group, I just can't do that, I feel there just so unique that any comparison would be unjustified, you may say I'm might be a bit bias, wrong, I'm a lot bias, these girls rock, enough said.

Thus song sets up the whole story. You really have to listen to the lyrics. She sates that she will kill all the other love that is for him. This is so he will only look at her. At the end of the song she states that she wii be the one. This concept album is not just the music but the lyrical content is just as important.

Did you notice how the lyrics in the last chorus changed from "let me be the one" to "I will be the one"?
She doesn't take no for an answer. And if you can't accept a no in love/relationship matters, it usually doesn't end well.
Also it's okay if you don't absolutely love every single song that's totally fine and saying so openly is much better than simply pretending. So we're good. 😊
And yeah, they use a back track of prerecorded stuff. I don't mind though and can't really understand people who do. I mean look at Nightwish. Nobody expects them to carry a 100+ people orchestra and choir in their pockets. 🤷‍♂️

Starting with a classic hard rock sound, other elements come in from song to song keeping things fresh. There will be some straight up rock, definitely some punk, some grunge, and even some pop elements. The girls recorded all the parts that are added by backing tracks but they are not simply mimicking the tracks. In fact, there have been occasions where they lost the track and you can't really tell. That is a sign that since they can really play, they don't actually need the tracks but they are there to flesh out the sound. I actually like this song, the lyrics are very creepy and you can hear the desperation of Dany's character in her performance. I will admit I don't particularly like the piano but I understand it is there to create a sense of tension, of dissonance. It gets better and better as you progress!

The Warning play live / sing live as much of each song as they physically can. They add backing audio from their studio playing to embellish parts of each song. When the Mac crashes onstage, you get to hear how little is actually backing track and how much is Live. Their latest single Choke currently I hear zero backing track when they played it for Rolling Live. The backing audio is always expendable embellishment. As in nice to have but not necessary to deliver the song.

"The One" is a complex, somewhat disjointed and disorienting composition that reflects the chaotic obsession of the main character. The mood of the song swings wildly from longing to self doubt and finally to determined rage. "The One" mainly serves the story narrative; you are not going to be disappointed!

This album has a lot of sound effects and included some tracks. Paulina has the notebook beside her and controls both the sound effects and the visuals. Some songs, she has an extra guitar, other voices and screams. It will be more evident when you hear "Stalker". She recorded a video explaining how everything works.

Appreciate your honest reaction; this isn't one of my favorites by them either. In an album with 13 songs by any group (that you like), it isn't likely that you will like every song equally. The QOTMS album is particularly unique in that it is telling a story, and not just a collection of songs, so the diversity in the story-telling may make some songs more engaging than others from a musical perspective. I've come to appreciate that The Warning has a unique and recognizable sound with many influences, but enjoys mixing it up when it comes to style and composition of the songs it puts on an album. That's one of the things that makes them so entertaining IMO.

Nice! The Warning use a click track and a backing track. The click track is their metronome and keeps them in sync. They wear InEarz to hear it. The backing track adds other instruments, sounds and effects, Dany also has a pedal board that can clone her guitar signal, change the octave, add effects and delays to simulate multiple guitars. Pau controls all this from a laptop next to the drums on her left. Pau and Dany spent a year coming up with the programming for each song to download to Dany’s pedal board. They play the instruments on the backing track and make all the sounds. They use Abbleton Live software on an Apple Mac. There is an IG story where Dany explains all of this.

The One is toward the bottom of my list honestly. Nothing musically really stands out and lyrically, the only thing that really has impact is when she exclaims at the end, "you WILL be the one".
I was one of those purists who had a problem with the tracks initially (not enough to turn me away but enough to irritate me). Finally, I came to the realization that it's just to enhance the audience's experience, like a light show or pyrotechnics, and as long as they were actually playing the instruments they were holding, that's all that should matter.

The thing for me when it comes to this album is that the majority of the songs indiviadually are not amazing, but the flow that the album as a whole brings together with the story, and when heard live with Dani's interpretation, is a masterpieace.
When you finish your reactions you should try and listen to the whole album in one sit and see how it feels.
    Peace!
