    I looked for the best 10 bolt rear end video and this one popped up!!! Awesome Arco!!!

    Push the axles in from both sides and the C clips will fall inside the housing. The axles will easily pull out after that. Replace the c clips upon reinstall

      This is either a B or O type axle. Retained by the flange with four bolts, not with c-clips.

    I just changed the rear end in my truck because that 5/16 bolt that holds that pin that holds spider gears in broke off. Boy did that suck.

    No C clips? I thought the trademark of GM was those C clips!

    I"m not trying to be a know it all. but that diff didn't have C clips inside holding the axles like a 12 does. you didn't need to pull the cover or the cross pin to get the axles out. still a good video. l like that slid hammer it's a beast.

      Yeah the backing plate holds in the axle so i pulled out the bolts holding on the backing plate to remove the axles. I pulled everything apart to inspect and sandblast the housing 👍

      @@OutlawEdge No he's saying the "c" clips on the other end of the axels where the gears are there should be c clips that need removed before you use the puller.

    You left out an important detail. This rear end, as you said, is from an Oldsmobile chassis. Buick and Olds 8.5's are different from Chevy's, as they aren't retained with C-clips. Therefore the removal procedure will be very different on a Chevy.

      Not on 10 bolts 8.5 Olds Cutlass they do not have c clips he nailed it

    • @stewoe7157
      @stewoe7157 3 місяці тому

      @@markt9438 There are different versions of 10 bolt axles. Some have c-clips, some don't. The versions used in Oldsmobile don't have c-clips, the ones in Chevrolet do.

    I made something way easy large bolt approximately 1 1/2 inches long , try to make this as long as you can. with three nuts on it two that are locked in place and one with washers in front of it big enough to go against the spider gears then holding the lock nuts in rotating the night against the washers in between the center of the two axles and by pushing up against the spider gear it will push out one of the axles then just reverse it and do the other one against the opposite spider gear this is the easiest and safest way I know!
