Since so many newbies will try to get Kang whites now, it's worth mentioning that other basic ktt switches are the same mold and will perform and sound the same. Just get the color/spring style you prefer
Bro I was so disappointed when I compared the Kang White, Grapefruit, Sea Salt, Peach, Mint, Halu Halo, and Rose(?) and found out they're all the same material with some having different spring height
The tea shaft is an upgraded version of membrane keyboard (imo), I recommend getting a red shaft which has a softer touch and a quicker response, green shaft if u like the clicking sound and I heard many students loves it, black shaft is abit too heavy but it's the most sensitive and quickest response. Hope this help when choosing your caps...
@@purplelord8531 yeah the tea shaft typing experience was somewhat similar to that of Logitech non-mechanical keyboard imo, like the MK series etc but slightly better typing feels. The caps does not have that much of crisp sound when typing, but it differs for everyone, some may like using it some may not :)
Thank you for sharing that, great leaning about so many other sources available for building on a budget. And for mixing your content reach all levels.
I bought KTT kang whites v3 for my first custom and damn boy they are so sick. I “overlubed” them cause i like how that amount of lube feels and sounds. However its not to the point where you get that squishy sound. Its just more than what people on youtube recommend. Its a sick switch, I eventually picked up the ktt peach but those are stock and they need to be lubed. Still decent though.
the difference in sound between the dynamic and camera mics was interesting. Which was closer to your experience of how they keyboard actually sounded? Feels like a bit disingenuous if many people making content on keyboards aren't giving a fair representation of how their keyboards actually sound (I'm new the custom keyboards but If I was dropping big money on a kit I'd be annoyed if I couldn't get it to sound like in the videos)
i would say imagine 25% of a camera mic and 75% of the dynamic mic, the camera mic feels realistic as it had distance away from the keyboard like how you would be, and the dynamic provided the accurate sound depth!
There's several reasons a camera mic may sound different: 1. Camera uses omnidirectional microphone (catches more reverb in the room and clashing frequencies that may drown out true sound than a directional) vs. cardioid pattern of dynamic mic (will not capture as many sounds around it, mainly focused on direction it is pointed) 2. Poor quality mic (camera) will literally cut off low frequencies/not pick them up Both of these can result in vastly different sounds. Most of the (obvious) difference you'll hear is the difference in low-end frequency capture between the two microphones.
thankuu for such an encouraging video,, im currently learning more about keyboards to custom my own that i got off shopee so i subbed to you yk must support local talent and im rly glad i came across your channel >
Can you try modding Garuda Gear GG68b Keyboard? It is also one of the cheapest keyboard you can find online full keyboard or barebones only and also comes with rgb. Big fan of your work and hope you notice this.
If you would go for upgraded version, there are pbt keycaps that are around 7-8 dollars, and you could get the board by itself which is around 11 dollars, and if you get the same switches that are 7, it would still be 27 dollars, just a bit more than the non-upgraded version. So, you can still get the upgraded version if you do these, for just for a few more dollars.
the issue i have with finding MEGA cheap keyboard kits, parts, etc. is i'm not sure what websites other than amazon and kbdfans are safe, like aliexpress always seems to have what i'm looking for but i know if i order from there it's usually a scam. would like some good places to order from (in the US btw)
There are scams out there but I’ve bought a whole lot of various random keyboard parts on there and haven’t been scammed before. If you really are worried about it not being safe then you could just buy from sellers who are known to be good
I built a gmk67 with akko cream blues for £38 with some really really nice keycaps i spent another £20 on beter stabalizers and lube and lubeing kits to lube my switches and stabs
Great vid!! Thoughts on the Machenike KT68 with smart screen?? Saw it on shopee and it looks like a budget cyberboard. No one has ever modded it yet though.. kinda cutious about it
Hello Lewis i really love your videos ive been modding keyboards for a while, and it's amazing the content you bring, also i wanted to know if you have any recommendation for a linear switch for gaming and also a keyboard that is 65 68 percent for it.
Hello, do you think that the Gas67 is good in quality? I'd like to build my first keyboard and would like to use it a lot. I mean 3 hours a day for at least a few years, do you think the PCB has a good enough quality? I've been using some random membrane keyboard for 3 years and it is completely fine, so do you think that would be possible with this one as well? Thanks a lot!
can ciy tester 68 can be modded to sub type c, removing the battery for energy. because it quiet frustrating buying many batteries for backup. hope you can make a video from it. thanks
so you're saying that we can make our own keyboard by following some steps? That actually would be nice for someone like me that has a specific budget and cant go over the limit, cus im already over budget with pc and screen..
My only problem that I have with it is the fact that it only runs on battery. I mean I understand that it is budget but I would have prefer it more if it is rechargeable
I'm a complete beginner in this and I want to buy the CIY68 as my first custom keyboard but I have no idea what shafts are and what each choices mean, can anyone help me understand please?
Im thinking of how i should build my first custom keyboard and I hope not to solder or do any tape or foam mod, will it make a huge sound difference without tape and foam? I actually think this keyboard might be it

thank you for the support!
didn't realize the mic would make such a big difference, which mic sounds more accurate to the irl sound?
definitely the dynamic mic

use 闲鱼. it's like taobao but it's individual buyers. i bought my qk65 and this already built kbd67lite from there
sheesh

any chance of putting this keyboard for sale? would love to own one of your budget builds

Mr.Lewis in terms of flex and softness when typing only. Does spr67 beat all of the high end board Ex. Tiger80 Thera75 Class80?
