WTF is Kyle doing ON the Couch??!?!?!?!
I never got a chance to play Gex, but the sequel on PS1 (Gex: Enter the Gecko) was a surprisingly fun and in-depth 3D game that sadly didn't get the kind of attention it deserved. Very similar to Mario 64 with multiple levels and challenges to get remotes (basically just stars), levels with different themes based on movie/TV genres (Horror, Kung-Fu, Cyberpunk,, Cartoon, etc etc) lots of voice comedic voice acting and pop-culture references, it was just a really fun and criminally underrated game.
Gex moved on to do Geico commercials.
when you purposefully skip intros and ignore instructions, you cannot criticize story or controls
Isn't that guy supposed to be behind the couch? 😂
“Did not take you as a gex fan”
don't drink tap water at jerry garcia's
Gex is a great classic on the 3DO, I have it. I got pretty far on it, probably level 3 or 4. It's gets much harder. lol But please don't compare it to Bubsy. Gex is way better.
But can he save you 15% or more on car insurance?
The original Playstation is, in my opinion, the greatest video game console of all time. I've had mine since 1999 and the sucker still works.
Here's the difference between Gex and Bubsy:
Gex's backstory is actually really goddamn weird. His Gecko father was a NASA astronaut (AKA a gecko they sent in to space as a science experiment) who died on his mission, so Gex got obsessed with TV to fill the hole in his life due to having a dead parent. He ends up in the TV world, which is why he's going to stuff themed like TV shows and movies (Thus, the Horror Movie levels you're playing) and well, it's just so goddamn bizarre with the tragic NASA backstory.
"Who open the can of whoop ass?" - Gex,1994
"Reminder: Don't drink the water at Jerry Garcia's." - Gex
It's obvious that James true passion for games ended with the fourth generation when he started focusing more on film. No real source for this other than subtle hints accumulating over the years, but you can tell just by the amount of detail he'll go over with the games of his childhood vs anything newer. Mike never outgrew the hobby and if it wasn't for him trying to push the Nerd character James would still be a literally who indie filmmaker making OSHA videos or whatever.
I love Kyle, he's so laid-back. He should be in more of these videos.
1. Gex had pretty advanced graphics for its time. I love James and Mike but they write off anything that isn't Nintendo too quickly.
I like Kyle, he's under control and casual, not some blowhard like doug was, playing it up for the camera.
All the questions that they were having about the character and the settings in this game are actually explained in the opening cutscene. This game is actually better than what they made it seem to be and the sequels were much more fun
I thought the "theme" of Gex was that he got sucked into TVs and had to fight his way through genres and stuff?
