We used to go drag netting along the beach for flounders here in NZ. But just scaled and gutted them, then floured each side and fried. Then whole fish on plate, peel and eat flesh from top side, turned fish over and same with other side. Easy to avoid the bones. And loved the roe. Cheers, Art.
I feel cheated!!!! lol I was 5 mins and 23 sec short of 2 hours! jk. Love the channel and how you get the family out there. Much love from southwestern Ohio.
,check out some of the recipes for stuffed flounder, they use popcorn shrimp and lump crab meat, I like to add a stove top type of stuffing as a crust to hold everything in.😋🤗🤯
When I was a young girl, maybe 12, living on the Texas coast, I caught a flounder in the Lavaca River that emptied into Lavaca Bay. We caught salt water fish and Blu crabs in that river all the time. That Flounder pulled me into the river up to my waist, before my dad caught me and held me while I reeled that monster in. It measured 21 inches and weighed 19 pounds. I have a picture of it, somewhere.
The people who don’t think you should do this need to realize that this catching method is legal. I watch people who use spearguns to get fish. Again it is a legal way to catch fish. If they don’t like people doing it then don’t do it yourself. I have no issues with it. Anyway you catch fish takes talent and finesse. Great video. God bless you and your family.
Just a couple questions: What you are catching you call Flounder. Flounder as I understand have rasping teeth. Halibut and Sole have sharp jagged predator teeth. Isn’t what you are catching actually a type of Sole? Not Flounder. Are there not Bull Sharks around? Seems like a risky, but prolific fishing adventure.
They may be called flounder in your area, but a true flounder has only rasping teeth.. It would actually need to be genetically determined the family origen of that species. I noticed that some of the flat fish that were catching had rasping teeth, and some of the others had predatory sharp teeth. Allot of the flat fish look very similar, and are easily mistaken. I once thought I was catching sand dabs, and later found I was catching very young halibut. The indication of teeth are difficult to determine when very young. At least until you open the mouth and look carefully.
The department of marine fisheries calls them Flounder. They are listed in size and creel limits as Flounder in all of the Gulf states as well as North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
I don't know who told you that you don't put cheese on tacos? I'm from south Texas, and tacos are about all we eat down here, and every taco I eat better have cheese on it. I don't know anyone down here that don't eat cheese on their tacos...
I'm sorry this is cheating period! I use this tactic going after aquarium fish that are a flight risk lol when trying to capture and damage themselves so we wait til it's dark and handle the fish accordingly but that's to help them not merc them lol
I can no longer walk without a walker. I love your videos because I can once again be walking in the beach waters. Thank you.
You are so positive, and enjoyable to watch. I have heard of frog gigging, but not flounder gigging. Thanks for sahring and Merry Christmas
Awesome sized Flounder❤
Probably your best night yet! Enjoy the delicious meal! Well done!
This is one of the coolest fishing videos I’ve seen. Thank you! 😊. Flounder is so yummy!
Love the videos. I’ve seen about 50 of them. Teaching groups and family get togethers are great too. Nicely done ✅ 👍🎣
That largest one you gigged in the beginning of the video was very nice! 👍

Love your videos but I must have missed some. Where the heck is all your hair?
You are doing this in a Hurricane?
Fried skin and tail, best part of the fish.
Can you fish butterfly rays?
What do you do if you miss the slot , throw the fish back?
Another suggestion zest the lemon for both the fish and the sauce.
I have to try that!

Maybe its a scent gland for mating , or territory dominance.

These are flounder. There are gulf flounder and southern flounder in that area.
