- Filmed at the British Study Centres Oxford, this video features a full length class using Life Upper Intermediate followed by a post-lesson analysis with teacher Clive Brown
What's the focus of this lesson? Is it about vocabulary? Thanks
Classroom management
26:51 nice explanation of a complex word.
But he used the same word he was trying to explain in his explanation of that word.
great teacher! 👍
This is the old way of teaching ESL/EFL. Unfortunate, since these NatGeo books are pretty amazing!
Not the kind of class I would like to take.....😅
Why? The topic?
Disappointed at the prevailing traditional image of the teacher as a lecturer with students only answering or speaking when asked. For an upper intermediate level more participation of students and less teacher talk
Your are correct, but don't forget that the students are aware that they are being filmed and that changes their responses. I had some experience with filming students, it does change their "relaxivity)".
yes i agree. he is a very traditional EFL teacher, although he is experienced enough to manipulate the text and manage students well. i would always try to make my classes more interactive, although it can be a struggle. and what happened to the roleplay?
@Tomáš Dostálek So true. Have you been to Brazil? They never shut up!!
@@richardbarclay7728the same with Moroccans. Chatterboxes as they are.
Can I have a free PDF student book of File - Level Upper intermediate? They seemingly refused to share it online. Can somebody help me?

It is unnecessary to run down the activities for the class...that is for you the teacher as a visual guide.
I am afraid you are not quite correct in your assumption. It is in fact called 'Learner outcomes', what the students will do in that lesson or will be able to do at the end of it. It is an 'EQUALS'' minimum to satisfy for accreditation and something that SHOULD be done at the begining and at the end of each lesson.
