Hello. Wow, 40 students are really a lot to deal with. The only way how to avoid frontal teaching is to split them into smaller groups (5 students each) and give them a task to do. Then you can go along and monitor their work. You should prepare a lot of additional materials (cards, worksheets, role plays etc.) Students would work in their centre and then you can check the task together with the whole class after some time. Gosh, I can't even imagine teaching so many students at once :)
I usually teach a group of 12 students so the size of the flashcards is fine for them. If the flashcards are really tiny (2:20), I ask students to come to the board. It's the purpose to get them on their feet sometimes :) What ways do you use?
For the flash cards you are using, are you using flash cards that have pictures only? I can't see whether you have the words written on the cards. Thanks for the great video! :)
I never used any teaching aids in my teaching ... so my classes (more than 40 students aged 12-15) are very boring I don't know what to do! Can you help??
You can try breaking the students into smaller groups and have their individual group activities. You will need to have 1 leader in the group. Hope that helps :)
With teaching young learners how can you extend the vocabulary as some say my lessons are too easy especially when I have open classes how can I make better lessons.
These games are good. But not for students of this age. In China. The children I taught many years ago were 5 years old and they can do everything you presented in this video. I am quite sure that they could be challenged much more by playing different games with more areas of concentration.
You probably missed the title of this video :) I am not presenting my lesson with students of this age. I am presenting the way of using flashcards for teachers to choose what fits their classes the most, according to the age, of course.
MsEnglishcorner I am aware of the title of the video. What I am saying is that you can use those flashcards to make games. You also could have written the words on the back of flashcards to show them the phonic form of how to say these words. There are many things you could have done with flashcards that could have made it more interesting and challenging.
Everything very impressive except the fact that the students are teens! It takes really loads of time fussing around for the sake of murmuring one word. What will the students learn after an hour's lesson - a list of somewhat 10 words? They CAN actually do much more than just that.
OMG, surely we do not do this for the whole lesson :-D You did not get it. This video is a DEMONSTRATION of how to work with flashcards. The teacher uses just one activity for 5-10 minutes then (s)he goes on. I thought it was clear.
brilliant ms corner.....completely refreshed my thinking on flashcards!

Say if I am teaching like animals how can I extend it.
Why music in the background? It masks what you’re saying.
I am saying what's in the flashcards or students are ;-)

Yes, I have seen a few of those videos with Mat. He's not bad. I like using building songs to develop young children's minds.
