Peter Brown Random idea that I have no idea if it would work, could you use a compressed air can upside down to freeze a resin leak so that the resin can seal the leak itself? You would probably have to repeat it a few times but it could help.?
Hi Peter I have a tip for you to help stop your coreflute mold leaking. Instead of cutting all the way through the coreflute and glueing it together, just cut one side and fold it
I work a lot with corrugated plastic and while that sounds like an ideal, it doesn't always work, especially with varying temperatures. Sometimes the plastic cracks, sometimes it doesn't create straight lines, etc. Also, in response to those who are SMHing, when you get used to doing things a certain way, sometimes an "easier" way is something that doesn't come to mind because of what you're used to doing. No need to be condescending about it.

But sometimes the hacking and sawing and other kinds of subtraction can work for you too. As it did in this case. I agree with you, the texture and angular qualities of both the wood and resin work well together. Great job.
I think I have an idea that would look good. take a stick and break it in two. join them in the mold leaving the frayed ends with a 4-6 " space for epoxy like you did here, but in the center have a small colorful parrot feather suspended. I think it would look good either with the epoxy area angular, unevenly cylindrical, or even ovoid (to magnify the suspended 'magical' item). other inserted items could be 3-6 horse hairs from a violin bow that you dye 3 colors then braid together and seal with a light coat of lacquer to prevent stain medium from leeching into the epoxy. Or you could get the smallest size glitter, gold or silver powder, and carefully put a fine line on top when the epoxy is halfway covering the stick. or dip a needle in a pigment to draw lines from each break, done in multiple colors. The end result would be a wand that looks like it had fractured at the center of its magical item. you could even turn a handle to insert the wand into that you can adorn with vines or jewels, etc. I'd love to see a video incorporating one of these ideas or pointed in the right direction of its been done. Pardon my ignorance but what does 'secret wood' mean in this context? Google just gives me pictures of (cool) rings with little model cities in them. Awesome wand! I'm just getting into resin and I may have to try something similar.
So. The name isn't mine. I borrowed it.
The idea behind the original ring was that there was a mini forest (or secret wood) on your finger. That illusion was created by the splintered wood and bubble-ridden resin.
Incredible creation, Peter, een though it didn't turn out the way you had planned! Way to go for staying positive and not giving up - worth it in the end for such a beautiful looking wand!!
Love your videos!
It kind of looks like a push pop. Anyone else remember those candies?
Considering half the places I've worked in the last 12 years have sold them? ;)
There's just something about your vids man. Have been watching for years and love every one! Thank you!!
Mark 1.0? Never heard of her.
Another great piece, Peter!
I know this was a frustrating build, but I really like the result. It has a crystalline feel to it.
Put an LED in the handle that shines up
Tritium :)
I would genuinely love to see another go at this and maybe just wand making in general. Really love the journey your videos take and the explorative aspect of it all.
"I think that was a bit of a bad idea.. I think it'll look really cool... yeah, I think that was a bad idea."
Awwww! This is what the inspirational chat about 'failures' was about. Nice job. 👍🏼

Can we please get more of your wand turning/making videos? This was actually pretty awesome!
"I like the idea that this wand is malicious in some way"
I think the video proves that :D
I really enjoy watching these, I don’t have a garage or space to ventilate to do these things myself, so I enjoy this hobby vicariously
