Is The To The Moon Series A Simulation?

In the To The Moon Series we spend most of our time in a simulation of the memories of someone close to passing away. However, is it possible that what we are experiencing is a simulation of it's own? Are we experiencing the memories of someone who's health has taken a turn for the worst?

To the moon was such a heavy and beautiful game to me. It raises really hard questions about what life and death are, and what it means to us.
