Sri Shailathalaramaya & Wayamba Sinhaya | Kurunegala | Aerial View (Vlog - 06 | 2020)

Location - As you enter the lake road either via the road next to the Malay mosque in the Dambulla road or via the Kataragama kovil road, you can find this elegant rock, the "Wawgala" on your left hand side bordering the road that runs around the lake.

The ascent of this rock begins with the Old Ranthaliya rest house and gradually goes up high where the temple "Sri Shailathalaramaya" stands at the summit of this rock. This temple is a beautiful meditational center with a serene environment and is still under construction.
A replica of the "Wayamba Sinhaya" or the prestigious lion on the North Western provincial flag has been built up on the this Wawgala by using huge stones. This lion image can be clearly visible to the other side of the lake and is also a mezmerising a sight when it is observed from the top of Athugala.
