It's not just one layer of creativity and freedom. It's layers. Layers of culture, of dirt, stone, and bedrock, of world generation and player construction, of a small community that follows an indie game growing into one of the largest groups in the world, from a cute little block game into something that keeps people sane, because in Minecraft, you can't just see what's there right now, you can look past it, look backwards in time, at all the layers under it, at its growth, its loss, and its freedom.
I see the player you mean. PLAYERNAME? Yes. Take care. It has reached a higher level now. It can read our thoughts. That doesn't matter. It thinks we are part of the game. I like this player. It played well. It did not give up. It is reading our thoughts as though they were words on a screen. That is how it chooses to imagine many things, when it is deep in the dream of a game. Words make a wonderful interface. Very flexible. And less terrifying than staring at the reality behind the screen. They used to hear voices. Before players could read. Back in the days when those who did not play called the players witches, and warlocks. And players dreamed they flew through the air, on sticks powered by demons. What did this player dream? This player dreamed of sunlight and trees. Of fire and water. It dreamed it created. And it dreamed it destroyed. It dreamed it hunted, and was hunted. It dreamed of shelter. Hah, the original interface. A million years old, and it still works. But what true structure did this player create, in the reality behind the screen? It worked, with a million others, to sculpt a true world in a fold of the [scrambled], and created a [scrambled] for [scrambled], in the [scrambled]. It cannot read that thought. No. It has not yet achieved the highest level. That, it must achieve in the long dream of life, not the short dream of a game. Does it know that we love it? That the universe is kind? Sometimes, through the noise of its thoughts, it hears the universe, yes. But there are times it is sad, in the long dream. It creates worlds that have no summer, and it shivers under a black sun, and it takes its sad creation for reality. To cure it of sorrow would destroy it. The sorrow is part of its own private task. We cannot interfere. Sometimes when they are deep in dreams, I want to tell them, they are building true worlds in reality. Sometimes I want to tell them of their importance to the universe. Sometimes, when they have not made a true connection in a while, I want to help them to speak the word they fear. It reads our thoughts. Sometimes I do not care. You are alive. and sometimes the player believed the universe had spoken to it through the sunlight that came through the shuffling leaves of the summer trees and sometimes the player believed the universe had spoken to it through the light that fell from the crisp night sky of winter, where a fleck of light in the corner of the player's eye might be a star a million times as massive as the sun, boiling its planets to plasma in order to be visible for a moment to the player, walking home at the far side of the universe, suddenly smelling food, almost at the familiar door, about to dream again and sometimes the player believed the universe had spoken to it through the zeros and ones, through the electricity of the world, through the scrolling words on a screen at the end of a dream and the universe said I love you and the universe said you have played the game well and the universe said everything you need is within you and the universe said you are stronger than you know and the universe said you are the daylight and the universe said you are the night and the universe said the darkness you fight is within you and the universe said the light you seek is within you and the universe said you are not alone and the universe said you are not separate from every other thing and the universe said you are the universe tasting itself, talking to itself, reading its own code and the universe said I love you because you are love. And the game was over and the player woke up from the dream. And the player began a new dream. And the player dreamed again, dreamed better. And the player was the universe. And the player was love. ItsJarrell truly amazing Minecraft is. A wonderful game. Even at my young age of 5 it captivated me. I remember deciding to read the credits when I was about 7 and damn. I loved it.
Didn’t know? In a way we knew more than we would ever comprehend in our lives. We were sourcerers (idk how to spell), builders, fighters, were the light of creation and the spawn of darkness. You can’t say in a hundred life times that you were such things all at once. Live onwards. Such things a man cannot know without the passion of hundreds and hundreds of aspects of their life set aside for such a daunting assignment. Live onwards. Being daft to the changes of reality and how they bend to our perception is an action in futility. Keep dreaming. Live onwards.
Sometimes we look at the past with rose colored glasses. We can be blinded by nostalgia and focus only on the good times in the past, always chasing a passing feeling of joy. Maybe these times are not so different, maybe it’s perspective.

It's alright to take a look at the ever ticking clock once in a while, but do not linger around or keep your head in the past. Go outside and spend your time doing things you like, there's a lot to see and a lot to do. And when you look back in five years, reflect on all of that change. What have you improved, which things still need some work, and what lies ahead for you? Time is not something to fear, it is something you should use well

i love how this isnt just a still picture, its an actual open world of minecraft and you can see the mobs going about their daily lives, litrle things like this really add to it!!
MInecraft is one of those things that can be anything because the basics are essentials without being absolute: is not a same way, is not a same place, but anything what anyone may want to, with the particular cubic essence of Minecraft. That's what can make it eternal like the universe itself: anything can be.
This sounds like when you die in your hardcore world that you play for years and you wondering around your world in spectator mode looking at all the great builds and memories sadly before finally deleting the world.
Now that you mentioned it, there was a minecraft hardcore player that had his save file for a decade or so until a baby zombie with a full gold armor (and a weapon too, i think) ended his streak. What sucks about it is that his fire diamond sword burned the baby zombie which returned to him.

Sweden captured the vibe of old Minecraft perfectly. You were completely alone in an open world, no objective, no nothing, only monsters. Just pure sandbox. Now, after all the updates, it feels more like an RPG and this sense of loneliness is gone entirely.
i must say recent updates sure bought an objectives especially 1.20 armor trim and archeological treasures but minecraft from beta days up until 1.13 actually captures that you are lonely in this massive worlds where you can finds many things including monsters yet you are always alone in this journey
honestly though the updates and the way the world became much more rich populated kinda gives me the vibe of a postapocalyptic, colorful but desolate world slowly recovering. Animals return to the woods and the sea, towns and villages start forming again, there's more life in the caves and the Nether. I really appreciate that progression, to be honest. You are still more or less alone in your journey, but the world itself is a bit less lonely.
meh, C418 has much more character and is way more fitting. He did a good job portraying characteristics of Zimmer's style but IMHO they are too cliche for my liking and harmony is lacking compared to the original piece. It's obnoxiously grand like all blockbusters. And again, not criticizing the author here cause he nailed it. Just a bit surprised people find it actually better. And even in the scenario where this is a theme for a Minecraft feature film, I would be a bit disappointed, cause it sounds exactly like any other epic OST. And I find Zimmer's work way overrated (yeah, I'm that guy)
I've only just come to the realization that I will never be done with this game. I've taken breaks and I've always come back. After playing this game for nearly 10 years, I'm still here, and I still love this game!

i remember playing early Xbox days when they just added redstone and I was focused on getting all the books even though were lived below the poverty line but I didn't care all I cared about was betting those books and playing this beautiful masterpiece of a game that allowed me to experience happiness in my sad childhood, damn I miss those days.

So they/us might not have the time to play a game for hours anymore. I tried to play Minecraft a few times in the quarantine. It's just not the same, I'm not feeling the same. Games don't cure my anxiety anymore. Life is becoming unbearable and playing a game more than two hours is impossible now. Becoming an adult is not cool. I wish I could feel like a 13 year old playing Minecraft again. My mom asking me about my sleeping schedule. Someone being worried about me. I hope the younger generation takes care of Minecraft. Why is everyone acting like Minecraft is going to disappear with time? I'm still playing Doom and X-Com: UFO Defense from 1993. Minecraft is even more popular and arguably more iconic than Doom was, let alone X-Com which was rather obscure. If these games get source ports and 100% accurate recreations from scratch, so will Minecraft. Nobody is going to let Minecraft disappear, ever. Even if we can't use the official launcher anymore at some point. Your kids will be able to play Minecraft too.
The song ends but the game doesn't. Players leave, and they're replaying, again and again, like this song. This game is just a masterpiece which will never end and which have players that will remember all their life, the good moments that they got on it.
Still never will be the same though, a lot can happen to people after 10+ years and those old memories can never be recreated like they used to no matter how much you try to return to them.

Bro I'm crying as I write this, just sitting here, a university assignment due in two weeks, listening to this song, reading the comments and going back and forth between laughing out loud at the humour some people brought to this majestic revision of a masterpiece and crying at the emotional quotes. I often want to be younger again, to worry about simple things that don't actually bother me that much, be idealistic & naive, sheltered from the cruelty of the world again, have fun and be able to connect with people without a worry or doubt of their intentions. But I know I cannot go back anymore, all I have left are memories and as much as it saddens me that I can't go back and appreciate them, live them the same way again. I know that if I go out of this room there will be more memories to be made, which will be beautiful in an entirely different way. I hope you all are doing well and can live a happy life, the world can be a bad place sometimes but we can make it better for us, the people we care about, and whoever we will leave behind.

Inception is probably one of the best movies because of how well the story is and how it could very well compare to real life in a connectable fashion.

I miss how minecraft used to be, or rather, how I used to be. You see, through all the updates, minecraft never really changed, it was us all along. We grew up, and life is more complex than it was before. Simple things aren’t as fun as before, but we can always look upon how it used to be, in sadness and in happiness, and reflect on how our past made us who we are today. For some, minecraft is long in the past. I don’t enjoy minecraft as much as I used to, but minecraft has been there almost my whole life, and it’s something I can always come back to for comfort. I thank the internet for showing me this game, and nourishing my interests. Our generation lives very different to the ones before us. Technology has been a huge part of our life, and the world is changing faster than ever before. I guess that could help explain the feelings this gives me, but I don’t have the words.

God, I hope they don't make a minecraft movie. It's be just as bad as the emoji movie, no matter how many talented people work on it. The emoji movie was bad because emojis, as a concept, are impossible to make a movie out of and so is minecraft. There's no serious plot or any sort of substance to make a joke out of so the only way I could possibly see a minecraft movie working out, is for the movie to just be one hour and thirty minutes of someone playing minecraft but with good camera angles. Any other approach would just never be able to encapsulate the true beauty that is Minecraft and would, therefore, feel bland and unfaithful to the source material

Emojis does not have an original storyline thats why they had to come up with a new storyline. Minecraft already have an original storyline and then they will probably revolve the movie around that. As someone who played Minecraft from the 2010's, this is really giving me nostalgia and tears. Minecraft, is a game that many have experienced in their younger days. The days where you explore, opening the inventory for the first time, mine diamonds for the first time. The time where you watch the Herobrine videos or the Aether Portal videos on UA-cam. It's a part of what makes Minecraft so great from other games. I can't believe this one game from one man (Notch himself) can become such a big hit and best selling game that made me and all others happy in their worst times.
It makes me cry, thinking that my children won’t be able to spend the hundreds of incredible hours meeting the same people I did. I have never seen a game like Minecraft, but I hope they will. ( this song is an absolute masterpiece and I thank you for you’re contribution to music)

It's kind of amazing how memories work. Why do we tend to look back and remember the past as a better time than the now? Perhaps to inspire us to create new things, and in a futile struggle attempt to recreate the memories, perhaps creating something even more valuable in the process. The actions you take for granted today may well be the things you look nostalgically upon in 10 years time. So in a way, nearing the end of the 2010s, this is a good time to record the mundane things in life, as a means to in the future, perhaps look back in it with Joy. I think that's really what this video is about.

@@andreaszoeller In a way the reason why we look so fondly upon them is because we were so in the moment, and so were able to concentrate on the now, while not worrying about tomorrow or yesteryear. I think that's why we have such good memories from our childhood, for the simple reason we had nothing to compare it to at the time, and so everything was the best thing that had ever happened. Never had my comments responded to be the creator before, so that's kinda cool! Made my day!

As much as I love the idea, I’d have to say that Alpha is as good as it gets. It’s such a beautiful, well made piece that anything that would change or remake it would be a downgrade.
I honestly feel so much regret never being able to grow up with minecraft as I didn't own a pc that could play it at the time nor did I have the game. Even so, from the song parodies to the different let's plays and various channels that brought so much out of the game, it definitely is a time I wish I could go back to. My favourite out of all the let's plays has to be Rendog's though. He had such a wholesome personality and stories he would tell throughout his gameplay and his world felt so truly like his own, with the theming and creativity he poured into it. I now have minecraft myself, many thanks to the person who got it for me, and although I don't play it much, finding an opportunity to play it with friends is always a treat.

Hah, the original interface. A million years old, and it still works. But what true structure did this player create, in the reality behind the screen?
It worked, with a million others, to sculpt a true world in a fold of the [scrambled], and created a [scrambled] for [scrambled], in the [scrambled].
It cannot read that thought.
No. It has not yet achieved the highest level. That, it must achieve in the long dream of life, not the short dream of a game.
Does it know that we love it? That the universe is kind?
Sometimes, through the noise of its thoughts, it hears the universe, yes.
But there are times it is sad, in the long dream. It creates worlds that have no summer, and it shivers under a black sun, and it takes its sad creation for reality.
To cure it of sorrow would destroy it. The sorrow is part of its own private task. We cannot interfere.
Sometimes when they are deep in dreams, I want to tell them, they are building true worlds in reality. Sometimes I want to tell them of their importance to the universe. Sometimes, when they have not made a true connection in a while, I want to help them to speak the word they fear.
It reads our thoughts.

Sometimes the player dreamed it was a miner, on the surface of a world that was flat, and infinite. The sun was a square of white. The days were short; there was much to do; and death was a temporary inconvenience.

Now that you mentioned it, there was a minecraft hardcore player that had his save file for a decade or so until a baby zombie with a full gold armor (and a weapon too, i think) ended his streak. What sucks about it is that his fire diamond sword burned the baby zombie which returned to him.

Sweden captured the vibe of old Minecraft perfectly. You were completely alone in an open world, no objective, no nothing, only monsters. Just pure sandbox. Now, after all the updates, it feels more like an RPG and this sense of loneliness is gone entirely.

i must say recent updates sure bought an objectives especially 1.20 armor trim and archeological treasures
but minecraft from beta days up until 1.13 actually captures that you are lonely in this massive worlds where you can finds many things including monsters yet you are always alone in this journey
honestly though the updates and the way the world became much more rich populated kinda gives me the vibe of a postapocalyptic, colorful but desolate world slowly recovering. Animals return to the woods and the sea, towns and villages start forming again, there's more life in the caves and the Nether. I really appreciate that progression, to be honest. You are still more or less alone in your journey, but the world itself is a bit less lonely.
Imagine if Hans Zimmer and C418 came together for a new soundtrack.

meh, C418 has much more character and is way more fitting. He did a good job portraying characteristics of Zimmer's style but IMHO they are too cliche for my liking and harmony is lacking compared to the original piece. It's obnoxiously grand like all blockbusters. And again, not criticizing the author here cause he nailed it. Just a bit surprised people find it actually better. And even in the scenario where this is a theme for a Minecraft feature film, I would be a bit disappointed, cause it sounds exactly like any other epic OST. And I find Zimmer's work way overrated (yeah, I'm that guy)
I've only just come to the realization that I will never be done with this game. I've taken breaks and I've always come back. After playing this game for nearly 10 years, I'm still here, and I still love this game!

So they/us might not have the time to play a game for hours anymore. I tried to play Minecraft a few times in the quarantine. It's just not the same, I'm not feeling the same. Games don't cure my anxiety anymore. Life is becoming unbearable and playing a game more than two hours is impossible now. Becoming an adult is not cool. I wish I could feel like a 13 year old playing Minecraft again. My mom asking me about my sleeping schedule. Someone being worried about me. I hope the younger generation takes care of Minecraft. Why is everyone acting like Minecraft is going to disappear with time? I'm still playing Doom and X-Com: UFO Defense from 1993. Minecraft is even more popular and arguably more iconic than Doom was, let alone X-Com which was rather obscure. If these games get source ports and 100% accurate recreations from scratch, so will Minecraft.
Nobody is going to let Minecraft disappear, ever. Even if we can't use the official launcher anymore at some point. Your kids will be able to play Minecraft too.

Bro I'm crying as I write this, just sitting here, a university assignment due in two weeks, listening to this song, reading the comments and going back and forth between laughing out loud at the humour some people brought to this majestic revision of a masterpiece and crying at the emotional quotes. I often want to be younger again, to worry about simple things that don't actually bother me that much, be idealistic & naive, sheltered from the cruelty of the world again, have fun and be able to connect with people without a worry or doubt of their intentions. But I know I cannot go back anymore, all I have left are memories and as much as it saddens me that I can't go back and appreciate them, live them the same way again. I miss how minecraft used to be, or rather, how I used to be. You see, through all the updates, minecraft never really changed, it was us all along. We grew up, and life is more complex than it was before. Simple things aren’t as fun as before, but we can always look upon how it used to be, in sadness and in happiness, and reflect on how our past made us who we are today. For some, minecraft is long in the past. I don’t enjoy minecraft as much as I used to, but minecraft has been there almost my whole life, and it’s something I can always come back to for comfort. I thank the internet for showing me this game, and nourishing my interests. Our generation lives very different to the ones before us. Technology has been a huge part of our life, and the world is changing faster than ever before. I guess that could help explain the feelings this gives me, but I don’t have the words.

God, I hope they don't make a minecraft movie. It's be just as bad as the emoji movie, no matter how many talented people work on it. The emoji movie was bad because emojis, as a concept, are impossible to make a movie out of and so is minecraft. There's no serious plot or any sort of substance to make a joke out of so the only way I could possibly see a minecraft movie working out, is for the movie to just be one hour and thirty minutes of someone playing minecraft but with good camera angles. Any other approach would just never be able to encapsulate the true beauty that is Minecraft and would, therefore, feel bland and unfaithful to the source material

As someone who played Minecraft from the 2010's, this is really giving me nostalgia and tears. Minecraft, is a game that many have experienced in their younger days. The days where you explore, opening the inventory for the first time, mine diamonds for the first time. The time where you watch the Herobrine videos or the Aether Portal videos on UA-cam. It's a part of what makes Minecraft so great from other games. I can't believe this one game from one man (Notch himself) can become such a big hit and best selling game that made me and all others happy in their worst times.

You know I think Minecraft is an absolutely great game, but what is way more important are the emotions and memories we are associating with the time we were playing it for the first time. Our children will find other games and other people, time will change and it will never stop changing, that's just how it works and it nearly makes me cry thinking about it, but if you think about all that beauty that has happened and will happen to us there's really no reason to cry. It's kind of amazing how memories work. Why do we tend to look back and remember the past as a better time than the now? Perhaps to inspire us to create new things, and in a futile struggle attempt to recreate the memories, perhaps creating something even more valuable in the process. The actions you take for granted today may well be the things you look nostalgically upon in 10 years time. So in a way, nearing the end of the 2010s, this is a good time to record the mundane things in life, as a means to in the future, perhaps look back in it with Joy. I think that's really what this video is about.

@@andreaszoeller In a way the reason why we look so fondly upon them is because we were so in the moment, and so were able to concentrate on the now, while not worrying about tomorrow or yesteryear. I think that's why we have such good memories from our childhood, for the simple reason we had nothing to compare it to at the time, and so everything was the best thing that had ever happened. Never had my comments responded to be the creator before, so that's kinda cool! Made my day!

As much as I love the idea, I’d have to say that Alpha is as good as it gets. It’s such a beautiful, well made piece that anything that would change or remake it would be a downgrade.
I honestly feel so much regret never being able to grow up with minecraft as I didn't own a pc that could play it at the time nor did I have the game. Even so, from the song parodies to the different let's plays and various channels that brought so much out of the game, it definitely is a time I wish I could go back to. My favourite out of all the let's plays has to be Rendog's though. He had such a wholesome personality and stories he would tell throughout his gameplay and his world felt so truly like his own, with the theming and creativity he poured into it. I now have minecraft myself, many thanks to the person who got it for me, and although I don't play it much, finding an opportunity to play it with friends is always a treat.
