As Samuel talks about at 5:08 with the simplicity of the sound engine, it's shocking how much a difference it makes when you use a mod like Sound Physics Remastered that adds complex attenuation and sound reflections. Honestly, I feel like the toggling of that mod has more of an effect on the feel of the game than even shaders.
I wish Minecraft got an engine overhaul, I'd love to have wind and reverb and nature sounds, and actually incorporate the sounds themselves physically in the world
It's actually just adding some reverb and applying some filters to the sound effects. It's not actually simulating the individual echos. It does use ray-casting from sound sources, but the ray-cast data is just used to adjust the parameters of the reverb effects and filters.

Yessss I love Minecraft's sound design, it really does all of its vibes really well! From the comforting sounds of walking around, farming and building, to the unsettling noises of being down in the caves and hearing an echo of something in what you know should be an abandoned mineshaft. The mob sounds are my favourites, especially the original sounds, they're so unique and recognisable, and very fitting!

Yesterday we were playing and I thought I kept hearing a baby crying. I figured it was another apartment or someone outside. Foley artists are my favorite folks. They've got to be some of the most creative folks out there (especially for video games). The fact they can do so much with just a few simple everyday objects found around the house is... nothing short of magical to be honest.
I would watch literally 1000 more videos about minecraft’s sound design and sounds and probably would never get tired of them. They perfectly exercise the idea of “less is more”. Minecraft sound design includes some of the most satisfying sounds I’ve ever heard. And that’s isn’t only nostalgia talking: amethyst geodes(!!!!!!) piglins! And of course classic explosion or glass breaking sounds, all the mob sounds old and new, nether portal… and all the creepy cave sounds and mob sounds being scarier paired with the dark. I could go on. It’s fantastic.

I love foley artists and Minecraft is probably one of the few games where it has inspired me to pursue foley as a career in my future. I'm a high school student right now senior and I can't wait to do this as my career

As a sound design student and a self taught music producer, and a huge minecraft fan this is incredibly inspiring!!!!!! I wish more studios would show the sound effects side of production in game development

A few years ago I watched one of their earlier videos on sound design, and it inspired me to actually study in that general direction. I recently did my first sounds for a friends game. These guys were the inspiration for that basically. :)
First, they made the sounds using objects/themselves. Second, they adjusted the pitch of the sounds they made to make it sound a certain way. And third, they used a software that allows you to adjust the way things sound.
