What an immaculate hangar you could eat your lunch off that floor, everything seems so well organised and tidy, all of this from a drinks empire that must be thriving if this is anything to go by,the scenery is magnificent and such a natural backdrop for the historic airplanes, thank you Kermit for sharing your adventures with us humble mortals.
P-38 ....way cool... Hanger is out of sight fantastic... What a show they put on, Think I'll put Austria on my must do list... Thanks for the great Video Kermit.
It is amazing what all those people drinking fizzy pop can finance! A very nice, well organized hanger they have there, and a nice back yard to play in. Well Done. Chris B.
Always look forward to seeing the aircraft that I will forever call Lefty's Lightning. Saw Lefty Gardner fly it at so many CA airshows; met him at Madera, too. Read Ladd Gardner's account of the engine fire and successful belly landing. Followed every stage of the restoration by Ezell Aviation, archiving all the photos they shared. It was a shame that it had to go to Europe, but I will be forever grateful for money Red Bull invested in the restoration as well as the benefit to the Gardner family, and the care they take to keep it in such excellent flying condition. Also toured the German Alps above Berchtesgaden in the late '80s. Didn't make it to the Eagle's Nest, and I still regret that... but I'll never forget those beautiful mountains and the view of Salzburg in the distance. The photos still hang on my walls.
That is indeed very nice hanger but I prefer the fantasy of flight hanger. Because that is not just a venue it is a fully functional factory to bring back the dead airplanes back to life. I will visit the Red Bull hangar but I can live in front of your flight hangar. Thank you for taking us with you Mr Kermit. We are waiting for your children storytelling on this channel.
I see the Harvard that Red Bull use to own here in the UK now at Compton Abbas airfield in Dorset, it is unbelievable no expense spared so I can imagine the hangers over there in Salzburg, what the eye sees against the camera is totally different. Thank you for the footage Kermit.
That TB-25J 44-86893 came from Davis Monthan to Fairfax KC Mo then to Richards Gebauer AFB south of KC. Spent many hours in the '80s working on that bird when Kansas City Warbirds-Frank Howerton, and a group of owners including my dad was weekend restoring it and flying to airshows like Omaha/Offutt and Breckenridge. Sitting in that greenhouse in the bombardiers seat on takeoff is a rush...like sitting in a coffee can with a thousand marbles bouncing off the outside going from 0-130 post haste. When the nose gear doesn't drop and you fly circuits around KC pumping that damn short shaft hand pump at the tunnel entrance for what seems like forever it is an even bigger trip. Big Irons was at the far end of the Dickey Goober strip and they always had something under restoration, Usually TBMs and F4U/FG-1s.
I know this was posted a while ago, but that B25 was formerly known as the "Farifax Ghost". In 1985 GM decided to build a new production facility at the Kansas City Farifax Airport and former NAA assembly plant. This B-25J-35-NC performed the ceremonial final flight out before the airport was closed for good and leveled. It was then based out of Richards Gebauer Air Force Base for the restoration and storage. My father was part of the restoration, and flight support crew. I can remember crawling around in that plane as a small child. On a side note, it is anecdotally credited with the last Japanese Kill by an American plane. During engine run-up tests after service in the mid-late 80s, the parking brake somehow failed, it hopped the chocks, and had a prop strike on a Toyota Supra.
I remember when that P-38 used to be "White Lighting". I saw her race at the Phoenix 500 back in the 90s. Makes me really happy that Red Bull did her right and didn't go crazy with their branding on the pain scheme!
Phoenix 500, was that out at Williams after it got BRACd? I'm pretty sure I went one year but there's been so many air races and air shows I can't be sure.
I spent a few days in Salzburg a few years ago. Nice sleepy town with a small airport where every plane pulls up to the concourse and you walk into the airport at ground level. The best part of Salzburg for me was being able to see the river from my pillow. That river has sustained that town for centuries. Even today you can see water emptying into the river at every street. Perhaps an early design for getting rid of waste water?
Hey welcome to our part of the world :) On topic of beautiful countries, you should have stretched your flight just about 200km south over the Alps and explored LJBL and its surroundings. Look up "Lake Bled" for motivation ;)
[~15:10] Eh, no, Kermit. Don't bother with a girl voice for the gear warning. What you need, is to get that recorded in Donald Duck's voice, to play in the Grumman! C'mon. Now THAT would be hilarious.
Funny Caravan story: I was in the right seat while we flew low over caribbean blue water heading to my island home at the time and was being annoyed by my noisy, fluttering side window. Trying to tighten the latch, I guess I turned it the wrong way and the window exploded open causing a hurricane/tornado inside the cabin! Every piece of paper, including everyone's tickets and the pilot's charts circled the inside of the cabin for five seconds and then got sucked out the open window. :P I managed to close the window again but the burning of five pairs of eyes in the back of my head was palpable. Another, whoops, sorry...
Yo Kermit - you can read the sign & gives us the facts of each item. Please don't guess what you think it is. You can broaden your horizons past planes, it is called history.........you probably have eaten the same lunch your entire life......peanut butter & jelly
FIRST NEGATIVE FOR KERMIT FROM ME . Advertisement, advertisements, advertisements, don't you make enough money from Australian that you have to spoil this video with so many commercials?
Any ads you're seeing (other than the Red Bull paint jobs shown in the video itself)... are controlled by UA-cam (Google), not by Kermit. I have an ad blocker active on my browser, and I'm seeing none of what you're talking about. It's nonsense to criticize Kermit for your misunderstanding of how YT works.
I would suggest you consider how much time, effort, and money goes into creating these videos. The ads alleviate some of the costs and I don't see anyone else out there delivering what we do, at the level we do - I don't have to do these! My question, to you and others that question the ads, would you rather suffer through 15 seconds of ads in a 20 minute video, or have no video at all?
Gorgeous countryside. Add a visit to red bull to the bucket list.

I know it's kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good place to stream new tv shows online?
@Denver Enzo flixportal :)
@Kyson Hunter Thanks, signed up and it seems to work =) Appreciate it!
Thanks for sharing. Such a nice video!!!
You are right Kermit. That’s the most beautifulest country I’ve ever seen. 👍🏼
I am Austrian and it is so cool to see some beautiful scenes from my home country on your channel. Thank you very much!
That place is absolutely surreal!
Spectacular views. Wow.
P-38 ....way cool... Hanger is out of sight fantastic... What a show they put on, Think I'll put Austria on my must do list... Thanks for the great Video Kermit.
Thanks for the tour! Almost as cool as Kermit's collection!

Fabulous hanger Kermit and the views from the Caravan are just gorgeous.
Saltzburg is such a beautiful city, in such a beautiful place! I need to go visit Saltzburg again! I recommend it!

Beautiful day and country, awesome tour flight and magnificent women. Doesn't get much better. Cheers Kermit.

Very nice video and it is very beautiful thanks for the reminder.

Great job Kermit! Lovely place there!
Great Kermit, i visited your Fantasy of Flight museum in my wedding trip in 2008 and i will visit Hangar-7 next year
Beautiful aircrafts indeed! Thank you Kermit much appreciated!

Beautiful video. Thank you.
Great video. You didn't mention the Globe Swift under the DC-6. The countryside around Salzburg is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing this.
Awesome, thanks again Kermit
Nice, very nice.
"Hope they fill it up this time." You said it!

Very nice!!!!!
I remember that Red Bull had an AT6 Texan too, and the Corsair
Thanks Kermit, that was really cool!!!
well made video
Fabulous place. I thought you would have a little conversation with the pilot.
Real cool.
The B-25 use to be the Fairfax Ghost based in Kansas City.
If you like the DC-6, I think I knew of someone who had an "extra" Super Connie parked at a buddies shop....
Never heard "Namibia" pronounced like that. Nice video. Regards from South Africa.
The voice telling you your gear is down sounds like the actor from the Cannon TV show from the seventies.
Actress, and yes it does...lol
Once you pointed out the 'low fuel' indicator, that's all I could focus on.
Way cool

I just wanted to see the cobra and hear how many gallons an hour it burns.
Where is the corsair?
Cool
I hope you made it to the Mozarteum.
Oh, never mind-
Kermit, you need a P-38 :-)
Wheels down guy sounds like Duke Nukem.

Say after me....Namibia, Namibia, Namibia, there is an i in the word!
I wonder if Red Bull has any money?
KERMIT!!! IS THE P_51C you own FORMERLY PAUL MANTZ THE film pilot's!!!!! doing research! please let me know!
It is. And a Bendix Trophy Race winner too, piloted by Mantz.
It's neat and all but I like Orlampa and FoF better because there is only one Kermit Weeks.
Well said ! the place does not look as friendly as FOF.
Its cool that Red Bull keeps these old birds flying. It would be even better if Red Bull didn't taste like liquid garbage.
Who at that company made the decision to promote their products with aviation?
The aviator that owns the company!
Kermit, I just looked him up. Dietrich Mateschitz. I incorrectly assumed that Red Bull was publicly held. It makes perfect sense.
Was I not supposed to notice the one with the nice pins in the back of the Caravan? Whoops, sorry. :P
Hannes Arch passed away in a tragic helicopter crash
Found out after posting, or would have commented. RIP Hannes!

Thanks for the kind comments.
Now the question must be: Who's going to start a Go Fund Me campaign to get Kermit a Bitching Betty module? :D
This is proof that producing over-caffinated soda pop is definitely more profitable than makinging 'Naked in Jamaica ' rum
bom
Hannes Arch was killed 8 September 2016
Found out after posting, or would have commented. RIP Hannes!
Understandable... Love your videos.
The giant logo on the P-38 is awful. I understand the collection exists for marketing purposes but still....
I'm not even worried about whatever logo they want to paint on that thing. Just seein' a P-38 stripped and polished, is weird enough for me!
*That P-38 used to be here in California... a regular site where I live.... but no more.*
caffeine - water - advertising = bulk cash
