Resetting the hook timing on a 1952 Singer 206k Zig-zag sewing machine. Apparently it came to me with a replacement bobbin case that wasn't quite a correct fit.
I like how you talk to yourself and to us, as you confront problems and figure out how to work out the issue. Your line of think helps me learn more than I would if you did not explain your thought process so clearly. Thank you...
I have a Singer 306 W. The rotating hock and bobbin are almost identical. Your video is excellent. Within the first two minutes, I was able to see very clearly how to correct my timing. Thank you.
Hi, just a thought. I had a 206 dropped on my doorstep. First time I tried it it smashed the needle. What happened was the swing bar swung far too much. Oiled, tried again and it settled to sew perfectly. While your bobbin case may not look straight, I think the needle bar swing could also be adjusted to swing better a bit too perhaps? As long as the needle is in the needle plate and centered properly as well. Cheers!
my singer 306 has the same hook as your sews lovely it is different to my others 306s an the 319k some one must of swaped it to take the regular needles
O no don't know why can't I setup my sewing machine got this one from eBay but struggling to fix it three is a metal piece on the left top this one stopping the bobbin thanks for your video I hope I will fix it
A piece fell of my machine and I don't know what it is! The machine still runs fine. Is there a way to upload a picture to get your opinion? Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for this video! I have been scouring the net for hours trying to find a solution for the same issues on my 306k. I believe I have a thread jam in my case and the entire assembly is locked up. The timing may be off as well but I can proceed until I get the case apart. As such, I need to take the assembly off but the 3 screws on the outer circumference won’t budge. They are so tiny and tight that I am worried that I am going to strip them. Would you mind telling me how ( what tools, etc) you released these screws to remove the jammed thread? The video started after you removed the assembly. I have a small electronic screwdriver set but the handle doesn’t allow me to get enough torque and the assembly spins so I can get much leverage. I tried moving the position finger in the locked position so the case would move but that’s as far as I have gotten. I greatly appreciate your time!
@@pmatulew1 I recently had a big thread jam up in my 206k which was sewing beautifully before. Now the bobbin holder is in the wrong place? Somehow when I was cleaning out thread jam something must have moved.? So hope if I remove it with the 3 screws maybe more thread is stuck somewhere. Needle hits the right side of the bobbin raceway before the hook
Thank you for this video. Can you tell me if the two vertical tubes on either end of the motor are grease zerks? I can't seem to find info on them and I'm sure I need to grease the motor somewhere. TIA
Good question I had to look up myself. They are not zerks in the automotive sense, but they are nipples where you are meant to inject "motor lubricant" which is a low melting point grease. There may or may not be spring loaded felt wicks in there that capillary the melted grease to where it needs to be.
Thank you for answering. That is what I thought, but I needed to be sure before I commenced. I've heard so many comments on the 206 being so noisy, but this one I acquired is so quiet I was pleasantly surprised.
Mine is very quiet also. The only recurring problem I seem to have with it is that the clearance between the spinning hook and the stationary inner bobbin race is very tight. If it lacks for lubrication or a piece of thread gets caught in there, the machine will come to a sudden halt. Then you need to disassemble pieces to clear it. Something to keep an eye out for.
HI, I have this machine but when we moved the bobbin case was lost and the plate that cover it is missing now too. Will the 201 or 15-91 bobbin case work? Thank you (:
No, the 201 has a rotary drop in bobbin that's completely different. The 15-91 is similar but different also. If you can't source a 206/306 bobbin case, then a 20u industrial bobbin case is a close match that is also inexpensive and readily available.
@@pmatulew1 Hi Paul. Thank you for your answer. I have the embroidery plate but can't find my regular throat plate so do you have a suggestion for the replacement? Thank you so much for posting this video. Is there a download for the service manual. I am so blessed to have an awesome service tech here that mostly works on industrials but helps me out with my domestic machines.

Haha I do the same when working on my cars

I took the time too look up the information on 206k. The hole cut is way bigger then what they gave you. Pretty cool .
I remember my mom using one of these in Cuba in the 70s-80s.. lasted all the way till the 90s, but no parts in Cuba to repair it..
Love your Singer machine ❤️
Thanks for posting this video. I fixed my wife's machine in less than 10 minutes.

Thank you! This looks very very similar to the 319 hook and needle. This is the most helpful video I have seen on timing!

I don't think there is a way via UA-cam. Try posting it up to the Facebook Vintage Sewing Machines group.

I do not know.
You sound like the guy on the red and green show. Its a complement

Just used a small driver. Be sure to use something that fits the slot correctly.
