If I'm going to be completely honest the NHL should expand to 36 teams and that's it. Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Houston, and.....maybe Quebec City.

I think the NHL would want to expand. That way they can say they have more teams than the NFL

I like the first combo in the met division. Also, here’s what I think about the alignment:
Houston and Utah in the Central, Seattle switching from Pacific to Central, a new Arizona in the Pacific (if Alex Meruelo can get a new arena built for the team by 2029), Nashville and Atlanta in the Metropolitan, and Columbus switching from the Metro to the Atlantic.

Something I didn't mention in this video: Salt Lake City hosts pre-season hockey every year, but like I said, the sightlines aren't exactly idea in Delta Center depending on where you're sitting.

from doing research and staying up to date with expansion rumors, I believe that Atlanta and Salt Lake City will be the next cities to get expansion teams as they have expressed the most interest than any other city that either has an arena and/or has ownership interest. now if Arizona moves to Salt Lake City, I believe they will still expand and put 1 team in the west (Houston) and 1 in the east (Atlanta). if Arizona moves, the don't even have to change around divisions and it will be perfect location if they need to relocate.
I know like you said that most people don't like Atlanta potentially getting another shot simply because they failed twice but thank for calling out the hypocrisy with Quebec City potentially getting another team. Quebec technically did have 2 teams that failed just like Atlanta and I truly believe both teams will end up getting an expansion team in the coming years.
if the NHL goes to 36 teams, which makes the most sense if they expand once again, I truly believe it will be Houston, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, and Quebec!

Great video, Charlie ND. I can count on you to be fair and rational about Atlanta.

Since making this video, it's been announced that the Coyotes will be relocating to Salt Lake City, like I predicted.
I have changed my opinion on thinking that them getting the Coyotes would be bad, since I think the current roster (in addition to prospects) have the potential to be competitive in the not-too-distant future. But only time will tell.

San Diego and Portland are also interested in a NHL team too

Charlie ND, if you were to make this video post-4/14 (the day the Coyotes finally folded after a 5-2 home win vs the Oilers) I think the Houston team (which I would name the Houston Bulls) should take their spot in the Central. Because hey, in the NHL 40-team expansion video you did 3 years ago, you said you wanted a natural Texan rivalry, and I want that to be present in the divisions.

I think the nfl wants more USA markets. Do 36. Slc, Houston, Atlanta and for the homies, Quebec City

With all this talk about the Yotes situation I honestly hope the Nordiques come back so I can finally have a new team as an alternative after 7 years of garbage to the point I'm stuck watching football now without a team.

I'm not sold on putting a major league team in Alpharetta/South Forsyth. NHL fans in the southern US aren't as old as MLB fans and there is no public transport that far north of ATL. Think Atlanta United for your target audience more than the Braves. Gladiators games would be much more accessible than the South Forsyth team.

As a Georgia Native, I would say this is perfect location to put an NHL Team in Atlanta, if granted one. Where they are planning to build this entertainment center is based off of 85-90% of Thrashers ticket sales when they were around and this arena would be right in the center of 3 (18 and Under) hockey travel teams so it's in the Georgia hockey hub. not only that, the northern suburbs have grown significantly over the past decade so on top of the hockey players and fans you already have there, you have other plenty of other people to sell out games and I am 100% they will for years, especially if they are called the Thrashers and have a better start than the original franchise did now with the new expansion rules

      What cameron said is true.
I'll just add a few things.
      1) MARTA (Metropolitan Rapid Transit Authority) runs all the way up to Windward Parkway, only a few miles away from this new arena location. They could probably have a shuttle service from North Springs Station for those coming from the south. That said, most Thrashers fans drove and did not ride MARTA, though some did. Since this will be closer to many of the fans' homes, I don't see the location of the arena being a problem. The area is rapidly growing. To be honest, you have to drive like another 27 miles from the proposed arena to even really be in open countryside. It is full on suburbia up to Cumming and it is exurban north of Cumming up to the North Georgia Premium Outlets in Dawson County. The new arena location is in a highly populated area and is nowhere near the middle of nowhere.
      2) Atlanta United fanbase is very niche. It is heavily concentrated inside of I-285. While there are some United Fans in the northern suburbs, they aren't plentiful. Soccer is heavily loved by intown (Inside I-285) white liberals. If you are ever in their neighborhoods, you'll see lots of Atlanta United flags. They are a zealous bunch and many of them attend lots of games throughout the year. That's how they pack out Mercedes Benz Stadium every home game. Up in the northern suburbs, you'll see an occasional Atlanta United flag, but it is rather rare. The northern suburbs are generally more conservative with a lot of Republicans, and while a lot of kids play soccer in this area, the passion for Atlanta United isn't as great. Hockey tends to attract an overwhelmingly white, conservative, and Republican voting base. This is why the proposed arena's location is great. Downtown Atlanta and surroundings was heavily Democrat and very diverse with many areas to the South and west majority black. While there are some blacks who like hockey, very few do. I went to Thrashers night the other night at the Atlanta Gladiators game, and there were probably around ten blacks in the entire arena out of around ten thousand spectators. The same was also seen at Philips Arena downtown Atlanta, but many fans did not like going down to downtown at night for a game because of the crime in the area, the panhandling, and the overall feeling of a lack of being safe. This new location will feel safe like the Battery does for the Braves fans.
      3. Another thing, the Atlanta Braves fans and the hockey fans overlap a lot. A primarily white, conservative, and Republican fanbase. You can't say the same for the Falcons, Hawks, or United.
