@Dovax but then it would not be that much of a sacrifice, the game ask you to loose all of your progress just for ONE person, we are all ready to sacrifice something for everyone, are you ready to do it for just one person?
ShaykhMouhamad Mbaye The final boss fight on ending E is nearly impossible without help. you get a random rescue request that gives you ships created by other player's sacrificing their saves.
Thats what happened to me some hours ago. I made it to the Square Enix section and sh*t just got real... i never failed in that game but this time it kicked my bum reall hard. after retrying 12 times i got a help request. that what the game is trying to teach you. Life is a never ending circle. But the endings don't matter. It's all about the struggle within the circle. So you need to be able to let go of your saves, to be able to go back and enjoy the journey all over again.
I've got a strange lack of attachment to my save data, on anything. I've lost seriously developed Minecraft worlds literal dozens of times. I have over 2000 hours, I've definitely created at least 50 worlds, yet I only have 2 now. I'd probably gladly give up my save data if it actually helped someone, and wasn't just to make space for a new save, however this is the first game to leave a real impact on me, so I'm not certain I'd let it go as easily.
The final credit bullet hell game is designed to be completed with a group of small "triangles" shooting a wall of bullets in order to kill "bosses" faster. I will delete my saves because I had about 6 total strangers helping me through the final credit bullet hell game. After my game is deleted, my small "triangle" will appear in someone else's game no matter where s/he is, assisting that person through the final 2 minutes of bullet hell. I'm happy when I help someone
@Dovax I wonder if you survive without losing any of their data then do they get to keep their save data or does it go to someone else or is it just null and void??
I spent nearly 130 hours with this game and I don't regret deleting my save data. The final achievement I had left to get was the platinum trophy but what made this truly worth it was the fact that I could help someone else, just like the ones who helped me. I sacrificed myself because i played the final ending without network connection so i didn't know other people could help me. It took sooo long and the final parts where freaking hard. After i didn't get past this section i googled how other people did this and i was shocked. I suffered so long only to see how much easier this actually was...
ohh I was so lucky I randomly decided to turn on the network features just before that. And It was just cause I was bored and scrolled through some endings
I was connected to the network, but since I had no reinforcements at first, I thought something was wrong with my internet connection. Luckily it was just a slow build-up, which made it more satisfying.
@@tuanz8009 it's simple: Are you ready to sacrifice everything you've done till this point to help and save others in their final fight for the true ending or are you too selfish and leave them alone
I pressed no and closed the game, but then I just felt bad so I launched it back up and redid the credits and deleted my save. It felt like it was the most accomplished thing I have done in my life.
hello dear ceo of gulag I used ps+ to backup data and delete my save to help someone else and to see the new title screen but later i restore all my data hehe and i feel so evil hehehe
because you did the right thing. you offered help to another person, without a promise of reward, knowing that you were basically throwing away your progress to do so. but hey. you can always play again.
Because I'm actually dumb and I thought it would pull out a Bravely Second, but no... Good thing is that now I can spend another 10 hours catching all the fishes! WOOOOOOOOOO
Thank you to those who lost their save data to help others we all appreciate it and sorry that I just couldn't delete mine but hopefully one day I'll build up the courage
People have sacrificed their own data just to help a total stranger that died more than he should during the end credit scene. Of course I'll sacrifice my own save for this.
Zelo Reinhart And in that case, the game gets bought for a lower price if it has been used. So perhaps any person who reaaaally wants to play this game but doesn't have the money to buy it in full-price will be lucky too. In the end, you help people in more than one way! :D
And if you bought it on steam? The players sacrifice could be to create a gift code, and as another one buys this game foe e.g. half the price, your installation is removed...
probably unlike most people, seeing my saves deleted in front of me didn't hurt. I actually felt pretty good and am kinda happy I did it to help someone even if only a little. surprised the hell outta me but still
My first full playthrough was around 50 hours, didn’t explore, never upgraded weapons, barely did sidequests and I decided to do this. Now i’m playing through again, now on the final route with A2 and 9S, at 40 hours, almost all weapons unlocked and upgraded to at least level3. Playing the completionist way never seemed fun to me, but now that i’m doing it I never would’ve guessed it would be this fun. This game is amazing.
Game Developers need to do this more often. Sacrificing your own file to save a stranger's files... Thats some insanely sad gamepley but hell is it worth it.
Fun fact, Your data is used for people going for the true ending, During the credit shooter minigame. Your data is only truly lost if they fuck up and get the barrier you provide them all exploderized.
Thank you, thank you for your sacrifice. Without people like you, i may never be able to complete the game. But i wonder how some people who completed the game first can clear this without help.
It's possible, just very difficult. Honestly everything in NieR is tame compared to some other bullet-hell games. Not that I could beat those other games either, but some people do.
This is the only way to fully experience what this game has to offer. Not the post game stuff. Not getting all the achievements. This sacrifice right here is the pinnacle.
This is honestly amazing. I couldn't care less about helping someone else, but I really like the interaction. And since the game saved something at the end, I'm pretty sure this will lead to a new hidden ending. Probably.
Not a hidden ending. This unlocks the TRUE ending of the game. The fact that it's randomly chosen who gets the ending (only who RECEIVED it gets the ending) seems to make it needlessly aggravating, though.
The final boss can be beat alone. The Bullet Hell section before the question to sacrifice your data changes, as far as I understand from what I could gather (which isn't that much, but seemingly a little above the average). Let's just say that the true ending ends with all playable characters "alive", for once. Of course, both due to being machines and the conditions of the ending (which I won't dwell on), the three aren't literally alive.
I'll use this comment section to say thank you to everyone who helped me in the ending credits. Sadly I wasn't able to see your gamer tags but know this I'm grateful for your assist. Thank you
well I lost everything today thinking that was a prank or something, i guess now i have to beat the game in hard, 5 long days lost... at least it will help someone!
When I did it for the first time, I cried so hard that even my friends look at me so depressed, but I have no regrets, those question that Pod 042 made me where the cherry on my top. and thank you for all you who made this choice.
Ah I remember getting this through my first playthrough(total, not endings), I had over 40+ hrs and I still done it. I never felt so relieved despite knowing how fruitless it may be. So I'm playing the game again, but I plan to 100% it this time(side quests, ending, secret dialogue, everything).
You know what would have been cool? The closer the player is to completing the game 100% when they choose to sacrifice their save file, the stronger their little arrow pod thing is when it gets summoned to help someone else.
Message for Pod 153 and Pod 042: Do not feel sad or sorry that our journey is at an end. Instead, be happy and thankful you were able to experience this journey with us, the players. Though you will not remember us, now that our save data is deleted, we will never forget you, and will always cherish the times we've spent together, which will hold a special place in our hearts. And with that, we bid you farewell. And thank you for having us play Nier: Automata.
Just went through with the deletion and it definitely felt sucky but I’m glad I’m able to put more love into the game and the players who come after me. Thank you for the help random strangers.
i wouldve deleted but i spent 200 hours to get the platinium, 40 hours after this question, im thankful for everyone who helped me and sacrficed themselves!
after 50 hours into the game i decided to sacrifice my data for help someone but basically just because i want to restart this game another time by lvl. 1 lol.
Plus, you can reload the save data from the USB drive, replay Ending E, and sacrifice your save data endlessly, thus literally spamming other players with help!
No regrets here, the person I saved found me randomly on steam reviews. I guess I got my thanks from a 1 to a million chances. All the more worth throwing 60 hours, but I could never play it again after that.
I didn't beleived they were actually deleting others people save data to help me through the credits so I didn't take the messages seriously (no other game have ever done that). So when It asked me to delete my data I said no. Then I found out that they trully deleted other players saves to help me and I felt so bad that I didn't help on my own at that time that I immediately played the credits again to sacrifice my data in order to help other players in need.
I just did this yesterday, and I cried like a baby. My amazing girlfriend was there for emotional support, and I felt so silly crying that I just deleted 57 hours of game time. I had gotten all the side quests, endings, weapons, and upgrades, but never caught all the fish, found every archive, or did the final level 99 arena dev challenges, whatever they were. I had given up all that work for a total stranger. It was bittersweet and really emotional, as I'm usually a completionist when it comes to games like this. But this time, it didn't matter. I felt like I had to help someone else. It didn't matter if not every stone was uncovered, because I had an amazing time with what I had done. I don't know if I'll ever be able to play this game again, knowing what I do now. It's in the trifecta of nearly perfect existential and philosophical gaming experiences that I wouldn't trade the world for, alongside Outer Wilds and The Talos Principle. I can now look back on my experience and say that I'm happy with my decision, even if it didn't really matter in the grand scheme. But fuck the grand scheme.
I didn't want to see spoilers for something I still have to get in my game but it's great to see the 'sacrifice your data' thing from the first Nier back.
just deleted 50 hours of my gameplay, just to help out some random dude i dont even know.......who knew i could be this nice , when a game is showing you that you are not as heartless as you thought 10/10
This ending was so awsome because you have to actually sacrifice something "real" to help/get a really good ending. I must said that they really get me in the kokoro.
This game got fucking philosophical I'll tell you that much. Great story, great characters and great voice acting. End minigame was brilliant and unique, amazing game! Truly sad as well.
I reckon the majority of you have PS plus, right? If so, your game saves get uploaded/updated in the cloud every day (i think or is it every time you play the game, dunno) and this is also enabled by default. So this means there is also a way to get your nier save back by saving the upload to your local storage. Go to settings > App saved data management > Saved data in online storage > Download to storage

Is this the part on the credit screen? I didn’t get help at all?? Other than when shooting the credits a bunch of planes joined me…
I was connected to the network, but since I had no reinforcements at first, I thought something was wrong with my internet connection. Luckily it was just a slow build-up, which made it more satisfying.

That was your help
Did anyone else break down in tears while deciding to help like omg it was so emotional for me...
This was heartwarming. I sacrificed mine, feelsgoodman.
Thank you.
I saved my data because I don’t want to help them. This ending make no sense!
@@tuanz8009 it's simple:
Are you ready to sacrifice everything you've done till this point to help and save others in their final fight for the true ending or are you too selfish and leave them alone
I pressed no and closed the game, but then I just felt bad so I launched it back up and redid the credits and deleted my save. It felt like it was the most accomplished thing I have done in my life.
hello dear ceo of gulag
I used ps+ to backup data and delete my save to help someone else and to see the new title screen but later i restore all my data hehe and i feel so evil hehehe
yeah my save got deleted before my very eyes... T.T but why do I feel satisfied ....
Yoko sensei... why you do this !
because you did the right thing. you offered help to another person, without a promise of reward, knowing that you were basically throwing away your progress to do so. but hey. you can always play again.
Gasai Yuno its a fun game that's why and you get to play again
Because I'm actually dumb and I thought it would pull out a Bravely Second, but no...
Good thing is that now I can spend another 10 hours catching all the fishes! WOOOOOOOOOO
I felt bad to see my 34 hours of this game disappear before my very eyes. Oh well, I wanted to replay it on Hard anyways.
Lol replay on hard, i do my 1st play on hard xDDD Now im thinking to go on expert :D
Thank you to those who lost their save data to help others we all appreciate it and sorry that I just couldn't delete mine but hopefully one day I'll build up the courage
Surprisingly.. I haven't been this happy with my own choice since... well Undertale
Boy, was I having Undertale flashbacks with this ending.
...
'Cept we couldn't put Asriel back together, like we could the androids.
George-Douglas Price yep,
People have sacrificed their own data just to help a total stranger that died more than he should during the end credit scene. Of course I'll sacrifice my own save for this.
I deleted my save data to help others. NO RAGRETS. Thanks to those who deleted theirs to help me.
So this is where people finish their game, farewell to the save data, and sell their disc to 2nd hand store :3
Zelo Reinhart
And in that case, the game gets bought for a lower price if it has been used.
I kept a mental note of a few of the names of people who had made the sacrifice, and messaged them, thanking them profusely.
Very wholesome.
Make a mental note to go into an asylum
probably unlike most people, seeing my saves deleted in front of me didn't hurt. I actually felt pretty good and am kinda happy I did it to help someone even if only a little. surprised the hell outta me but still
NWARDZ
Me too, man! Me too. :)
In my opinion, *THIS* is the only way to *TRULY* beat this game!
NWARDZ so you can still use your cloud backup data? well good to hear that
Vincentius Ryan nope I have no backup data. my PS4 didn't backup any of my saves like it does for other games so im back at square one.
It's funny how one of the most meaningful moments in the history of gaming, despite coming in 2017, is entirely text based.
Recently just did this, erased my data on pc without backing any save files and it just gives me a reason to play this amazing game again from scratch
The devs put their saves in first.
I just went through this. I hope the guy who gets my help is thankful. that was painful as hell
Thank you.
Yeah, now imagine if it was your actual life instead, and someone else rejected your help.
Ern de Che stfu
This is the only way to fully experience what this game has to offer. Not the post game stuff. Not getting all the achievements. This sacrifice right here is the pinnacle.
This is honestly amazing. I couldn't care less about helping someone else, but I really like the interaction. And since the game saved something at the end, I'm pretty sure this will lead to a new hidden ending.
Probably.
I kinda doubt it
I said the same thing with Nier Replicant/Gestalt...
Not a hidden ending. This unlocks the TRUE ending of the game.
The fact that it's randomly chosen who gets the ending (only who RECEIVED it gets the ending) seems to make it needlessly aggravating, though.
It's that impossible beat the final boss without help?
The final boss can be beat alone. The Bullet Hell section before the question to sacrifice your data changes, as far as I understand from what I could gather (which isn't that much, but seemingly a little above the average).
Let's just say that the true ending ends with all playable characters "alive", for once. Of course, both due to being machines and the conditions of the ending (which I won't dwell on), the three aren't literally alive.
Thanks to you I've just finished this credits level. Thank you.
I also deleted my files after that level to help other players.
I'll use this comment section to say thank you to everyone who helped me in the ending credits. Sadly I wasn't able to see your gamer tags but know this I'm grateful for your assist. Thank you
Didn't help anyone and I'm proud of it.
I love how this game made (almost) all of their gamers come together to help one another
well I lost everything today thinking that was a prank or something, i guess now i have to beat the game in hard, 5 long days lost... at least it will help someone!
When I did it for the first time, I cried so hard that even my friends look at me so depressed, but I have no regrets, those question that Pod 042 made me where the cherry on my top. and thank you for all you who made this choice.
“Oh yeah sure I don’t mind helping other players” “this will erase your data” “…..yup fuck that”
There goes 60+ hours. What a game
This makes me tear up, like this is emotional af.
Wow I just got this ending and man this masterpiece was definitely worth the 40 hour grind. Now I’m finally ready to play Replicant
I couldn't bear to do it...after spending days and hours of playing...you're really brave.
What does 'helping another player' actually do?
what does it? for reals
a "true" true ending 'w')
Well, for the the guys who quit the game prematurely, anyway '-')/
in the credits you have to fight the credits like a shrumps game and you will recieve help there because is imposible to beat it alone
I believe that if you refuse to give up your save, you go through the true ending [e], where you do a bullet hell mini game and receive "the help"
no because after you finish the bullet hell mini game you are asked this same question
i wouldve deleted but i spent 200 hours to get the platinium, 40 hours after this question, im thankful for everyone who helped me and sacrficed themselves!
after 50 hours into the game i decided to sacrifice my data for help someone but basically just because i want to restart this game another time by lvl. 1 lol.
Save it on a USB drive, you're good. X3
Doesn't work. Yoko Taro came to my house with a gun and shot the USB drive.
give him your girls
Plus, you can reload the save data from the USB drive, replay Ending E, and sacrifice your save data endlessly, thus literally spamming other players with help!
If you decide to save the data, can you still do it later?
And does it delete just one file, or all three at once?
Lars Everything. EVERYTHING!
Dang, man.
Never had an ending touch me in this way before. I was sobbing for about an hour straight afterwards.
I just heard of this ending through the grapevine, but seeing it in action gave me chills.
To everyone who deleted their save files to help whose in need, I join you.
Ok, I got this... must help the weak... ~gulp~
seeing all the other player’s data helped me in the end, i also chose that my data to be deleted just to help the others as well
I just want to say thank you to anyone who gave up their save data to help me beat that final part
To those people having a hard time finishing ending E. I hope we meet.
No regrets here, the person I saved found me randomly on steam reviews. I guess I got my thanks from a 1 to a million chances. All the more worth throwing 60 hours, but I could never play it again after that.
I did this just last night after 77 hours in game so far. I have no regrets and started over this morning.
I thought this was a joke when i saw this. Boy was i really wrong.
Someone who hasnt played the game would read the title and think, why the hell is this on a boss fight channel.
Okay
Thank you for your sacrifice..
I think you get a different title screen if you sacrifice yourself as well.
THANK YOU SORA AND THE OTHERS THAT HELPED ME AT THE LAST STAGE IN THIS ENDING
This game got fucking philosophical I'll tell you that much. Great story, great characters and great voice acting. End minigame was brilliant and unique, amazing game! Truly sad as well.
In honestly deleting all the save files willingly made it less painful
I reckon the majority of you have PS plus, right? If so, your game saves get uploaded/updated in the cloud every day (i think or is it every time you play the game, dunno) and this is also enabled by default. So this means there is also a way to get your nier save back by saving the upload to your local storage. Go to settings > App saved data management > Saved data in online storage > Download to storage
Thank u
Never in my life would I consider doing this...you are insane my man 😂
I felt like I made a real moral choice
hey man I just came here to comment thank you for doing that and helping someone else get to ending E!
The whole game is about how valuable memory is. Then tests if you’re bigger than just yourself.
