@@VikingReacts Definitely do another two-part reaction of the live version at Wembley and the music video! I really enjoyed that you did it with The Islander
I think the official video was the first appearance of Troy. He was a session musician for Nightwish for more than five years before he got promoted to official member...
Anette has more poppy voice, she received a lot of hate from a lot of NW fans because she couldn't hit those extreme Tarja's notes. Anette is also a good singer, some songs were just written for Tarja and her vocal range. No surprise that not everyone is able to sing them well.
And that is understandable. I found that Nightwish touches people deeply (as it does me so far). This connection makes people really loyal to the band and that which makes it special to them. They do push their talent to the brink...it is hard to match I guess ;)
Yes, that made me perfectly happy :). I hope so too... I have a sense of what he is going through as I am fighting depression as well but I do feel that for someone like him and the way he is in a spotlight...it must be so much worse. I wish him best!
The non subtitled part goes "If I play the chorus will you sing along? yeah. You sure? YEAH! Ok lets do it" It's about an old lighthouse keeper reflecting on his life. This song is actually written by Marko, I think Toumas wrote the lyrics but the music is all Marko.
Amazing reaction...thank you. From this I can only say: Nightwish can change singers and bassist and still be amazing. But as character, Marko can't be replaced.
I have seen some concerts and performances but never have I come across someone like Marko who just grabs me the way he does... Glad you liked the video :)
I had a favorite drummer since the first time I ever saw Santana at Woodstock 1969 perform "Soul sacrifice". Nobody was able to beat that kid for me. Jukka and Kai have pushed him to third place ;)
@@corneliusantonius3108 Yeah, that's why I don't feel very bad about drummer change, cos Kai was already part of "family" :D Thou I'll miss Jukka as well
Troy was playing instruments on their recordings before he became an official member of the band. They were like "heck you've done so much and are practically a member so lets make it official".
This makes me certain that replacing Marko will be the most difficult task Nightwish have faced, ever. I am so, so sad he left the band and publicity altogether.
Viking, love your reactions, you are doing great. This band beyond amazing, and I love that they gave this moment to Marko to shine alone, he deserves it. Running joke, Marko has a t shirt reads "Floor is my backing singer." These people are born performers and love each other. Troy was not in the band yet, but was involved. He and Floor officially joined the band together, both teary-eyed according to Floor. Tuomas and Marko asked them together, so what do you say we make this a six piece group, both teared up and said "Yes!"
Lord Marco holding down a crowd of 20,000 obedient fans on the stage peninsula. Fabulous!! ❤️❤️❤️🚨🚨 Marco is the heart and soul of Nightwish. I hope he feels better and comes back at the end of his year hiatus.
Annette actually sounds good on the albums. She really shines in Slow Love Slow snd Rest Calm and Meadows of Heaven. Everyone has their favorite but I like them all for what they each bring. In live performances I like Floor by far.

Marko got you in the feelings, eh? Don't worry, he gets me every time too. Also, the song was not only written for Marko, it was written by Marko. One of those few where Tuomas had less influence on. And to be fair, in the official video apart from Troy, nobody is playing their usual instruments. Emppu doesn't have his EV1, Jukka doesn't have his Tama, Tuomas doesn't have his Korg, and Marko how Warwick.
Yup, he sure does. There is just something about this man that makes me want to sit down with him and discuss nature, life and the cosmos. I was told that he wrote it during the premiere. Makes perfect sense to me :) And sure... I get that they weren't playing their instruments but I had the make the joke as a little wink to the last Nightwish video I did;)
To date, only TWO people can say that Floor Jansen is their backup singer: Marko Hietala, and Troy Doneckley.. Well, make that three: Marko, Troy, and Freya! Who do you think got Floor to cover Let it Go? :D And that feeling of the old man standing on the dock by the ocean? two words for it: Sea Shanty. But you nailed the whole entire story surrounding this. That's what makes it both sad and beautiful at the same time. And why it sounds different can be explained musically. It's in a different key, with a faster bpm. At Tampere, the beat is slowed down, played in a different but still minor key, and sung acoustically for the first two verses, which makes it more intimate. As far as Anette goes, She's become more of a hero as of late. She took a break from music to get her nursing degree. She's a RN now, and helping with COVID in Sweden in addition to her musical career.
It makes sense why it sounded different. I noticed the different key and the faster bpm but I am hesitant to mention these things as I am not a vocal coach or a composer and I don't want to come across as trying to mimic such a reactor. Anette is being a different kind of bad ass in this case. Viking approves :)
Thanks Viking for your reaction. I liked that. It's in the air... goosebumps. This song makes me goosebumps every time. Marco is a great singer with amazing voice. Hello Viking, glad to see you are back with another Nightwish reaction. This is a great song for Marko. It certainly showcases his abilities. He is a much better vocalist than many people give him credit for. He is showing his love for the dedicated fans, and the fans for him. Then of course the rest of Nightwish joins in for another wonderful song. Every one of their songs has become a favorite, they are just so GOOD. Crying, why, of course not. Why do you ask? Oh yeah, I was there. Concert was only 250 kilometers from my home. So it was easy decision. I think this was one of the best NW concerts after Wacken 2013. Floor really elevated Nightwish songs range with her ability to sing everything Tuomas can think of. And don't be sorry about tears. There were many tears in concert too. Lol
My 1000.-th like. Wow,I am impresed by your reaction and just wow. Don't have a words. Nightwish laways got me,to the feels. And yeah,I am not crying, you're crying!!
Troy wasn’t a full member of the band yet so he’s not seen, but he frequently is guest musician on stage and on studio albums. Also on the studio version of this song Troy Donockley was guest musician and is featured on several instruments. I advertise to watch Anette live performing ‘Scaretale’. One of her best performances.
Absolutely loved your reaction. This is one of my favorite songs. It is an amazing song. Thanks for doing these reactions. Can you please do While Your Lips Are Still Red live at Wembley. 💜🤘😁🤘
Yet another great reaction. I love all the Nightwish songs, but Marco's songs will always hold a special place in my heart. Also, we have the same t-shirt :D Live Long and Prosper!
I’ve been reading your comments over the last few minutes and just have to say that this is why I started the channel. It was a way to do something to help me in my time of depression and to connect with people that love the things I do. It turned out to be so much more… People started to recognize what I said and feel less alone in what they go through. THAT is what I love most about this. I will soon be back from my hiatus and start uploading again! Indeed! Live long and prosper 🖖
@@VikingReacts I certainly feel less alone. Like, especially your reaction to "The Poet and The Pendulum" - I was sitting there, crying and felt like you spoke from my soul. I loved that you realised the 3 minute thing, I loved that you got so emotional over it. Every reaction I've seen from you so far you were honest and.. I don't know, but that means a lot to me and I felt connected in a (weird?) way to a complete stranger because I felt understood. So yeah. Imma be quiet now, but thank you so so much for this.
Yet another beautiful reaction. Always love to hear your thoughts on those Nightwish pieces. It's so cool you did this one as a double reaction because the MV and live version are soooo different, and both are gorgeous in their own way. (They both can move you to tears but differently ♥) For more Anette. unless you've done some meanwhile (I'm still catching up on your content right now!), you could check out Slow Love Slow live Montreux Jazz Festival 2012, Scaretale which is great both live and with the MV... Or some of her post-Nightwish bands/projects, such as The Dark Element (e.g. "Songs The Night Sings" (very Nightwish-y), "Not Your Monster" or "Dead To Me") and Allen/Olzon (e.g. "I'll Never Leave You" which is super powerful and epic, or "Worlds Apart"). Heart Healer (Magnus Karlsson) "This Is Not The End", a very awesome collab (metal opera!!) project with various great vocalists! Solo content: "Shine" (ua-cam.com/video/o4phyLGS8h4/v-deo.html )... Another rabbit hole to explore for you! ;)
True, Anette's vocals are more poppy. She still is a beast tho and brought so many musical ideas to life. Her era was powerful and Tuomas writing style evolved so much in this era. Some of his best works were first sung by Anette and people tend to forget that we would not have had all that without her.
He looks happy when the weasels come back...:-)...This is a gem....I could listen to him for hours...and he has great Back-Up singers...:-) _although he not needs that ...If the Godfather of Metal sings this song you have to listen. What I like about it: they give him the Room he deserves...Floor is not trying to shine on that one...Supporting a Friend. .Again - A reaction well done..and yes...."blurry vision" is normal on that one...strikes me too....now that we are anyway in Tampere.....what about "Weak Fantasy"...you talked about Power...delivered there too...
YES! High Hopes!! Who's the only band that can cover Pink Floyd and make it better? Nightwish. The guys owned the stage with that one. The only NW performance I have seen without the female vocalist present. Are there others?
I love this song so much... it almost sounds like a sea shanty, a little bit Irish in the harmony (Annette sounds like a combo between Sinead O'Connor and Dolores O'Riordan from The Cranberries in this one), and the video kinda reminds me of that part in Pirates of the Caribbean when they went to the "underworld" and were surrounded by ghosts... oh and I love Marko's voice... both live and studio version... too much awesomeness; if there are any songs that induce immediate goose bumps, those have got to be: The Islander, While your lips are still red, Phantom of the Opera and Sleeping Sun (Tarja's voice is wow).
Great job brother! Love your energy and your insight! Believe it or not, the 2 albums made during the Annette era are my favorites. I haven't heard anything worthwhile live with her but I don't think the production value was as good in those shows as it was with Wacken or tampere. Cheers!

Hey Viking, I think your EV-1 observation was a good one, along with nod to Tank. It got a chuckle out of me. Both reactions were top notch. I like your type of reactions. Until next time, bye." Keep it up. Now Subscribed!

The Viking is pleased. I hate mispronouncing names and places :P
Another Marco song that will tug at the heartstrings is "The Voice of my Father".
Annette has a beautiful tinkly voice. She sounds great in studio.
When they did that older video with Anette, Troy was first time in the band, and then the end is history....
Amazing history :)
Troy looks so young in the video even though he is the oldest in the band!
Lol
Beautiful reaction, I feel exactly the same emotions when I hear this song.
And that is the power of real music :)
When you get a chance react to Voice of my Father by Marko's band. it's .... emotional.
I shall :). it is on my to-do list!
It can't go wrong when Nightwish is NOT sitting around a camp fire and instead the camp fire is around Nightwish. Love Annette by the way.
This... I noticed it but didn't think twice about it. Perfect!
Yup Nightwish doesn't gather around a campfire. Campfires gather around Nightwish!
My 1000.-th like. Wow,I am impresed by your reaction and just wow. Don't have a words. Nightwish laways got me,to the feels. And yeah,I am not crying, you're crying!!
I love this band so much. I MUST se them in person. I get chills every time Floor sings
they are not only great musicians but they are also great story tellers
Troy started performing with Nightwish in 2007. He became a permanent member of the band in 2013.
So he was the hired flutes for 6 years basically :). Perfect addition to the group!
Of course Annette sounds okay, this is a studio recording. Troy recorded with them on some of the Anette albums
Both Anette albums.
ALWAYS a pleasure to seeing your reactions to Nightwish!!
Lots of love to you and your family!
Loved your reaction, as usual. Love how you just show your emotions unfiltered. 😊❤️
Filters are boring ;). I am glad you appreciate the feels!
One of her best performances.
yeah that's troy. Troy was a part time/backup for the band at this point, he became full time later
Absolutely loved your reaction. This is one of my favorite songs. It is an amazing song. Thanks for doing these reactions. Can you please do While Your Lips Are Still Red live at Wembley. 💜🤘😁🤘
This saved me a comment! Yes, do this Viking!
If you go down the Marko route then his new album is a must especially The Voice of My Father
bam..... in the face..... this song is so pure..... beautiful!!
For more Marko I highly sugest isäni ääni (or the voice of my father for the English version). Such a good song
"I'm not sorry.. fuck it."
Yep. Right there with ya.
My Soul sings whith all of you guys! It's heavenly beautiful song ❤
Nightwish making a sea shanty!! This would be perfect for a bard in a medieval city by the sea to be singing in the tavern :D
Great reaction as usual. The whole Tampere consert is a must to watch. Its an emotional ride.
Great reactions. This is probably the song with the biggest difference between studio an live version.
Troy started with the band as a session musician in 2007, but didn't join as an official member until 2013, same time that Floor was made official.
This wonderful, honest reaction of yours is the reason I'm subscribing right now.
Well thank you very much :)
Seen this performance for hundreds of times and I think I finally spotted myself in the audience! :O
I am jealous!
Damnit, Nightwish is making me tear up again
That is their super power!
Yet another beautiful reaction. Always love to hear your thoughts on those Nightwish pieces. It's so cool you did this one as a double reaction because the MV and live version are soooo different, and both are gorgeous in their own way. (They both can move you to tears but differently ♥)
For more Anette. unless you've done some meanwhile (I'm still catching up on your content right now!), you could check out Slow Love Slow live Montreux Jazz Festival 2012, Scaretale which is great both live and with the MV...
Another rabbit hole to explore for you! ;)
After this song, i think "weak fantasy" will come up,, 🤟
I guess we'll find out :P
True, Anette's vocals are more poppy. She still is a beast tho and brought so many musical ideas to life. Her era was powerful and Tuomas writing style evolved so much in this era. Some of his best works were first sung by Anette and people tend to forget that we would not have had all that without her.
Great reaction again bro, i love how music impacts you, because it does the same to me 🤘
You know you are in the top when Floor does your backing vocals.
I think Freddie Mercury would have done backing vocals for Marko ;)
@@VikingReacts freddy is for sure the best rock singer ever , even better than elvis.
@@arnaldotanta3630 If I could ever go back in time... I am going to Live Aid just to see Queen perform! :)
You need to go for some really old live videos to see Emppu playing anything but EV-1 :)
Those don't include Marco either.
He looks happy when the weasels come back...:-)...This is a gem....I could listen to him for hours...and he has great Back-Up singers...:-) _although he not needs that ...If the Godfather of Metal sings this song you have to listen. What I like about it: they give him the Room he deserves...Floor is not trying to shine on that one...Supporting a Friend. .Again - A reaction well done..and yes...."blurry vision" is normal on that one...strikes me too....now that we are anyway in Tampere.....what about "Weak Fantasy"...you talked about Power...delivered there too...
haha love the "Tank" reference .. good skills man
I adore Anette. Nightwish Bye Bye Beautiful, The Dark Element Songs the Night Sings and my fav Not Your Monster.
First time running into your channel and was so happy to see u do this double reaction! Ur in for quite the treat getting into nightwish!!!!
So i've noticed :). Everything is pretty much amazing so far!
he is the only man who can say: Floor is my back singer ;) !
And now ? "High Hopes" ? it would be great !!!!
YES! High Hopes!! Who's the only band that can cover Pink Floyd and make it better? Nightwish. The guys owned the stage with that one. The only NW performance I have seen without the female vocalist present. Are there others?
Nice reaction Viking. When i hear this song, i have chickenskin all over. Love this song♣♣
You have a floorgasm at ghost love score, and you cry at the islander. This is the way.
Cheers!
The Islander Rock in Rio. Marko and his fellow Northern King and lead singer of Sonata Arctica Tony Kakko. Tony like his bff Tuomas is a story teller and uses his body to tell you the story.
this song breaks the thoughest man in half. awesomeness in progress. hail to the King and Queen(this time as a backup singer).
Hey Viking, I think your EV-1 observation was a good one, along with nod to Tank. It got a chuckle out of me. Both reactions were top notch. I like your type of reactions. You know, where you actually "react"? I'm so tired of so-called reactors that basically play a video, staring at a screen while it plays, and then finish off with, "Thanks for watching! Until next time, bye." Keep it up. Now Subscribed!
Wait...people actually do that? Sounds more like a offline watch party ;). I am glad you liked what I did and I thank you for the sub!
If you liked the tank reference... Check out my "Slaying the Dreamer" video ;). You won't regret it!
Nightwish don't gather around a bonfire ... bonfires gather around Nightwish ;)
Marco.beautiful Viking..amazing singer
Agreed :)
Thank you for your reaction! For extra effect from lyrics watch the official videos with captions on, it'll grab you by the throat :)
You should also check out "While Your Lips Are Still Red". It also features Marko as the main vocalist.
