I agree with everything You said!
I am 82 years old still out on the tracks with a 20 year old Patrol & a Pop tent alone or 25 year old trailer with my Wife, stuck in our setup wich now includes must haves like Air Fryer, Coffee Machine & Microwave .😊
(We have done 12 Simpson Crossings & 15 High Country, Canning etc.)
Best advise - the less you take out of your vehicle the better - if it has two uses, fantastic.

I had 2 LR Defenders. Each had done over 200k. They both got us home every trip. I was backed up by an independent LR service/parts guy who could get me most parts overnight. Eg - needed a radiator hose in Mataranka - it got to the major depot overnight and in Mataranka on day 2. Many myths out there about different makes of vehicles.

Also know plenty that wait many weeks for there’s! Mataranka is not really remote so lucky there

Spot on suggestions, totally agree on bedding, spend the money it’s worth it. Yes you hear the stories about the big American trucks when they break something they are waiting for weeks on parts. That’s one of the reasons why we got a Landcruiser, can always find spare parts in the carpark 😂😂😂 I do like the Isuzu for that reason.

Yeah mate it’s crazy , would hate to be in a position waiting so long for parts, having a land cruiser defs has those great perks as they are everywhere which is great !
