A beautiful selection of holiday party dresses! I love the simple elegance of the designs. Alas, I don’t have any fancy holiday parties to attend, however I saw someone gorgeous stretch velvet and thought it would make a lovely faux jumpsuit with wide leg trousers and a wrap top with cross over ties. I’m looking forward to seeing your party dresses. Happy sewing, Cara.
Some great ideas here, Cara! Looking forward to seeing what you make - I sense a jumpsuit coming on!! 😉 I’m thinking of a full length Sew Liberated Stasia (my third!) in a stretch velvet. It’s so easy and flattering to wear! Enjoy making whatever you choose xxx ❤
Beautiful patterns. I would love to make my own party dress as every year we go to my hubby's Christmas party and long dresses are so suited to the occasion...but I shy away from making one...but I'm going to make an effort for next year and hunt for some really special fabric and have a go. as i can never find anything in the shops that i really want to wear and making our own party dresses is a great way of having something that no one else has. I remember few years back at a christmas do, popping to the loo and there stood a lady at the sink in the same dress! 😮...Great Video Cara can't wait to see your makes
Thank you, why not just go for it 😅 I like making these style of dresses in bargain fabrics from the market just in case I don’t wear it next year, then gift it or sell it x
Hello, lovely Cara! Happy to see your post. Gosh, these days holiday parties seem very much in my past, sadly. But the holiday dresses are amazing. For the satin asymmetrical dress, I'd look into a strapless longline bra to give you the support you need. Or even a strapless (modern) corset as a normal strapless is just not going to do the job! I'm drawn to the Iman jumpsuit, stunning. Do you think I'd be a tad overdressed wearing it to the grocery store? For the 2nd time today, I've heard the term 'Ts & Cs'. I get the meaning, but what does it stand for?
Some lovely party outfits there Cara. I love the grassier dress 👌😍❤️
Thank you Julie ❤️❤️

Thank you Laura it’s always lovely to hear from you xx
I absolutely love your floral top - which pattern have you used?
Thank you it’s the Nora top by Tilly and the buttons x
Thanks Cara, lots of inspiration for my Christmas dress!!
You’re welcome I hope there is something you like
Lots of lovely patterns Cara. I have Tilly’s book but still haven’t made the Joni dress, the length of it puts me off a bit. 🧶🌈🍓💙
I reckon it can be extended quite easily, it’s a lovely pattern such a clever design xx

A great selection of party dresses thank you. Could you put a shelf bra in the dress. Happy sewing.
Ah potentially but sadly it’s not something I have experience in, I also think structure could be a problem 😅❤️
