On September 20, 2016, I decided to do the BIG CHOP! I stopped relaxing my hair as of January 2016 because I got tired of perming my hair and I just wanted to go natural.
I believe that my hair texture is 4a and I plan on developing an everyday hair care routine to get the maximum growth benefits.

Shout out to your mom, shes the real MVP for encouraging you to go natural. My mom gave my sister so much hell and she's one of the reason why I've been "transitioning" for 2 weeks 1/2 years.
jadoresophya I went natural 7 years ago and my mom gave me hell as well! Honestly a lot of women are conditioned to not like their natural hair texture and I knew that's why my mom didn't like it. Hilariously my mom is natural now too and so is my sister lol
Congrats! I big chopped my hair in March of 2015 and it was the best decision I ever made. Mini Marley and April Bee inspired me to just go ahead and just do it after watching their big chop videos. Find the best natural hair products to work with your type of hair. Good luck on your natural hair journey!

its.thee.air.ahh You look cute! Be careful detangling your hair while it's dry, it would help cut down on breakage if you get one of those big detangling combs from the beauty supply store
i had my last perm in january too. my length is about the same as yours. i cant wait to big chop.

Your hair is the EXACT texture as mine and I cut it exactly that length it was really short but it is so much more softer and it's getting longer ! Goodluck ! ❤️

When I take this sew in out in a few weeks I'm gonna ask my mom to cut my permed hair off because I feel like my natural hair is not growing fast enough. I've been natural for atleast 10 months and my hair has made some progress but the permed hair is making the transition less fun for me. I was hesitating on doing it but now I definitely have my mind set on doing the big chop.

Wow you look great. My favorite part is when you just starting cutting the first section then you began combing it with that smile you had. I was smiling too. I should have cut my own hair because the guy that did it hurt and shamed me for going natural and yeah all that drama.
Jamaican black castor oil is gonna healthy that fro grow but it's beautiful regardless 😌
I did mine yesterday I was so scared but now I feel so good and relieved. It's really short but am gonna rocking it regardless

I just did the big chop again last night. I had went back to the relaxer but my hair started coming out really bad. So once again I’m natural. I think it’s healthy for my hair to remain natural

and I never had a perm but I use to flat iron my hair alot and got heat damage so I did a big chop in July and I will be reaching six months on Dec 27 I cut mine maybe shorter or the same length but it's already grown like three or four inches
