I created a lava themed enemy. There is an enemy that is a cloud in the 7-6 in super Mario Bros wii that creates a smoke screen. That enemy would be the same as this one im speaking of, but instead of creating smoke, it would create the toxic gas, that would damage the player. Note: The smoke screen of the regular version of this enemy doesnt damage the player. It only damages the player when he touches the enemy itself
What I don’t get is why they have an area called “Extra Styles” but there’s only 1, the one that came with the game. Like come on give it 1 other one like 3D land or something. I’d prefer one like Mario Brothers, Mario Land but I’d take anything to fill that empty space.
Here are some other reasons why it's good. 1. It's not something reused from the new super mario bros series 2. Autumn is the best season 3. We don't really have something for autumn, snow is for winter and ground/forest can be used for spring/summer.
I really hope that could be an "Theme Editor" for mix many type of themes, like: An Jungle cave, or an Snowed Mountain, or an Sand Castle.... ....and obiviuosly can add Water in EVERY SINGLE THEME
This is the list of themes I would like to have (or at least some of them since it's very long): desert cave, ice cave, lava cave, jungle cave, volcano (of course with meteors), ghost airship, sky castle, jungle castle, desert castle and tower( with the same variants of the castle). But most importantly I'd like to put every kind of liquid in every theme (for example a castle with water or a cave with poison) or to remove the liquid (castle without lava). And finally I would add the boiling water that damages you but doesn't kill immediately
I mean if you use the Ground theme for your Super World, and change the ground tiles to water, it kinda gets the job done but yeah, we really do need an actual Underwater theme.
You know a little detail I'd like to see in SMM3 is each course theme having a few "palettes" to choose from, so that there can be more variety in stage color schemes and backdrops. For example, the SMB3 Underground theme. You know how everyone wanted the orange ground seen in the beta version? Well, what if that was a pallete you could choose? Maybe you could have the default blue, that nice orange, and maybe a green? Or how about all the ground themes having an autumn option? There's a lot of possibility there!
To be honest, as cool as having all these themes would be, I think Nintendo did a good job choosing all of the important ones for this game, so I'm actually fine with all of the current ones
But they did listen to fans when making this game, and put in the highly requested things people wanted in SMM1. So since these themes are some of the most wanted, it's highly likely that they'd do that again, but with these themes.
Maybe what these modders done will be some inspiration for Nintendo, For now, modders do what ninten-don't, Even if they are overwriting current themes

Nintendo said that 3.0 was the last MAJOR update but I wanna know what would count as a "major" update in their eyes. If they add one power up out of nowhere would that be a minor update? If so then would adding one theme be considered a minor update as well? What about adding another game style to world maker? Does the quantity of items in an update the thing that makes it a major update? Or is it the complexity of one part of the update that makes it a major update. So as an example lets say the world maker was the only thing that came in 3.0 would it be considered a minor update since its only one thing that came in the update or would it be considered a major update because of how complex it is? Now lets say only the power ups (including 3d world masks) were the only thing added in 3.0 would they consider it major update because of how many power ups there are? Or would it be considered a minor update because of how simple the power ups are? If its the quantity of an update that considers wether its a major update or not then how many things can they add in an update before its considered major? If its the complexity then how complex does it have to be before its considered major?
SMMWE is going to have a beach theme and also other cool themes and styles for the courses! Anyway, i also think that it would be cool if SMM2 have these themes!
What if instead of just normal themes being added to the gameplay they instead added variants of the different themes. For example in the menu you would first select a base theme (forest, water, lava, sand) and then within the base theme there would be a ton of different themes. So for example forest could have things like (normal forest, jungle, autumn forest, snow forest, etc). Then for like sand you could have ones like (desert, Sandy canyon, oasis, etc). so, personally I'd only need the volcano, beach, and mountain themes to be happy, but these other ones seem good too. Also for night themes, beach would have large pushing water waves, volcano theme would have meteor's, and the mountain could have maybe the cloud fogs. Also not on my topic of themes, but the sewer could have poisonous or unseeable water, the autumn theme could look like haunted woods for nighttime and maybe the poisonous fog could be in this theme? actually that's kinda a bad idea because it imposes itself onto the player/builder.
The thing is most themes are present in the NSMB series, so every theme should be made to older games and 3D world, which takes imagination and time. But I mean they definitely succeeded with the 4 new themes they added to MM2 feeling like they always were a part of those older games. I still feel like we are missing themes, but honestly NSMBU needs them the most as it has the potential to make the best traditional levels. Night modes would also have to be implemented but most night mode themes have the same background anyway.
As much as I love Smm2, I want the game to last at least another 4yrs, but I’m super hyper for a SMM3 😅 more themes, enemies, items , and amazing courses. The more we get closer to the 3rd iteration, the more smashy videos I would love to see
Definitely agree on beach, mountain and volcano; they're undoubtedly the most likely candidates for additional themes in an SMM3. I think the next most common one from the original games would be the tower theme, which I'm kinda surprised wasn't included to go with the new vertically-scrolling sublevels.
I agree with some of your points, but if you look at the retro style’s theme select, there are 3 open spots. I think those should be the beach, mountain, and volcano theme as you said. But for the night themes (which you didn’t talk about) should be upside down liquid for the beach and volcano, and scroll stop for the horizontal mountain theme, and the ability to go from one end to the other in the vertical mountain theme (like in doodle jump)
Another idea for the Sewer Theme. Vertical levels can be wraparound (like in 7-1 & 7-6 in Super Mario 3). Of course, that would probably only make them one-screen wide instead of two.
the 5 themes i want, are: -water underground (like NSMBU 5-5) -autumn -volcano inside & outside -beach -haunted (like NSMB 8-1) and here are some features for night themes: -water underground: it would be dark just like in underwater -autumn: the leaves would be dense on the ground, leading to making you walk slower -volcano inside: the lava would rise from the top, not bottom -volcano outside: there would be meteors -beach: water would swap with atmosphere, so that would lead to swimming in the air, but not in water. -haunted: every enemy would work like boo's. bassicaly following you when you're not looking
Hey, I am all up for this. I would also love transferring levels from SMM2 to SMM3. I don't want to redo all of them. It will take me a long time just to finish a 40-level Super World. All of my future levels for one Super World means the world to me (yep, I ran into that pun).
I wish all these themes could have been Mario maker 2 it would add a lot more variety and I always wanted a water cave theme like the sewer mentioned as they were common in all the new super Mario bros series on ds and wii

Well the Snow and Desert themes weren't in the OG SMW, SMB3, and SMB. Yet they still added those to those versions and were able to make them look nice in those styles, so I think they could do that again.
Myth: in the Super Mario World style if mario bounces of a trompoline and drops a trampoline it wont fall sightly to the front it will fall straight down! Like that smashy can see it! If you see it can i be in the Credits?
I want to see at least beach and mountains, probably also volcanoes. And if live to see more moving course parts, Stone eyes in deserts, swinging platforms in castles, and the special platforms shown in this video for the mountains. And of course, vines, which would be made into chains in mountains, castle, sewer, and caves. I'd also like to see a desert and ice version of caves and castles, and a "standard" version of castles.
But didn't they say that the world maker update is the last big major update or something like that if they did say that then there's still hope we could get new themes right? Bc new themes would be in a new version or patch or something like that and it would not be a major or big update so.. Edit: I checked and they said that quote "this will be the last major update of mario maker 2" so there's still hope right?
I hope they also add a background/foreground maker where you can place ground enemies ect in the background and foreground to ad extra astedic to your levels or use them to make a cool challenge room in your level!
Night Mode for each theme: The Beach theme could have waves in the water. (Thanks Cmy Dagger) The Volcano is easy. Either falling meteors or poison gas. The Sewer would have its water in two states. You can set the red and blue states. It switches between these when an on/off switch is hit. The Autumn theme could have trees in the foreground (You can edit where they are) to restrict player vision. Finally, the Mountains would have Mario schimy on Semi-Solids (Did I spell that right?)
The cool thang is the sewer theme I made something like it I went to the forest theme in Mario bros 3 and had so much fun with it but I did kinda wish I could change the game style.
if mountain has semi solids where spike balls/boulders can fall through, why not have quick sands in the desert to make them more unique (with the option to control the height of the sand, and if it rises or not. I would also make twisters behave differently depending on the fluid they are in, so they would become sand geysers in the quick sands, lava geyser in the lava and typhoon that sucks you downward in the water

Nintendo doesn't care about SMM2 now, they prefer to make more DLC for Smash and more generic RPG games... Nintendo's logic : better to make SMM3 with theses themes added than update for SMM2
The ONLY thing I care about for mario maker 3 is the volcano theme. I literally no not care about anything else that they add, the only thing I want is the volcano theme.

On a related topic I would desperately want a Super Mario Land 2 style. A lot of people want the Super Mario Bros. 2 style but I think if they added the Shy Guy enemy and turnip item you could basically remake SMB2 already. Also the inferior Super Mario Land 1 is much more popular for some weird reason but basically being a SMB1 demake it would make no sense. SML2 would be unique because Mario has the spinjump ability from SMW but the enemies behave like their SMB3 counterparts. And most importantly there's a counter that tells you how many enemies you have defeated and when you defeat 100 (or maybe you could change that number in the level's settings) a Super Star appears. As powerups you have the Fire Flower (acting the same but adding a feather on Mario's cap) and the Bunny Carrot replacing the Super Leaf, and the Bubble replacing the P Balloon. Then maybe you'd also still have the Superball Flower and some other powerup not in the original. The graphics would be kinda boring in monochrome so it would instead be recolored, but there'd now be a "black & white" special effect that can be applied to the whole level turning it into its original style and it would also work in other game styles turning SMB1 into SML1 graphics.
I know there are still things to add like the freeze flower but we Mario maker 3 wont come out for a while if at all.. so we should just enjoy Mario maker 2
I had a really insane idea for Mario Maker 3. So know how Mario Maker is about mixing mechanics? What If you where able to mix tile sets, backgrounds, music, and stage hazards. For example; you could mix the desert tile set with the underground background to make a desert cave, the ground and airship tile sets with the night background to make a city, or mix the underground tile set with the night background and add the low gravity mechanic to create the moon. I also feel like this would make it easier for Nintendo because it would take less effort to create for themes. And that’s my idea for Mario Maker 3!

Also not on my topic of themes, but the sewer could have poisonous or unseeable water, the autumn theme could look like haunted woods for nighttime and maybe the poisonous fog could be in this theme? actually that's kinda a bad idea because it imposes itself onto the player/builder.
The thing is most themes are present in the NSMB series, so every theme should be made to older games and 3D world, which takes imagination and time.
But I mean they definitely succeeded with the 4 new themes they added to MM2 feeling like they always were a part of those older games.
I still feel like we are missing themes, but honestly NSMBU needs them the most as it has the potential to make the best traditional levels. Night modes would also have to be implemented but most night mode themes have the same background anyway.
As much as I love Smm2, I want the game to last at least another 4yrs, but I’m super hyper for a SMM3 😅 more themes, enemies, items , and amazing courses.
The more we get closer to the 3rd iteration, the more smashy videos I would love to see

Definitely agree on beach, mountain and volcano; they're undoubtedly the most likely candidates for additional themes in an SMM3. I think the next most common one from the original games would be the tower theme, which I'm kinda surprised wasn't included to go with the new vertically-scrolling sublevels.
For that we Can just remove the lava from the castle, I would really like the idea of a theme editor to mix the various theme

I agree with some of your points, but if you look at the retro style’s theme select, there are 3 open spots. I think those should be the beach, mountain, and volcano theme as you said. But for the night themes (which you didn’t talk about) should be upside down liquid for the beach and volcano, and scroll stop for the horizontal mountain theme, and the ability to go from one end to the other in the vertical mountain theme (like in doodle jump)

Vertical levels can be wraparound (like in 7-1 & 7-6 in Super Mario 3). Of course, that would probably only make them one-screen wide instead of two.

-autumn: the leaves would be dense on the ground, leading to making you walk slower
-volcano inside: the lava would rise from the top, not bottom
-volcano outside: there would be meteors
-beach: water would swap with atmosphere, so that would lead to swimming in the air, but not in water.
-haunted: every enemy would work like boo's. bassicaly following you when you're not looking

Hey, I am all up for this. I would also love transferring levels from SMM2 to SMM3. I don't want to redo all of them. It will take me a long time just to finish a 40-level Super World. All of my future levels for one Super World means the world to me (yep, I ran into that pun).

Well the Snow and Desert themes weren't in the OG SMW, SMB3, and SMB. Yet they still added those to those versions and were able to make them look nice in those styles, so I think they could do that again.

I want to see at least beach and mountains, probably also volcanoes. And if live to see more moving course parts, Stone eyes in deserts, swinging platforms in castles, and the special platforms shown in this video for the mountains. And of course, vines, which would be made into chains in mountains, castle, sewer, and caves.
I'd also like to see a desert and ice version of caves and castles, and a "standard" version of castles.
Since you said a lot of water themed themes, they need to add the penguin suit for advanced swimming
But didn't they say that the world maker update is the last big major update or something like that if they did say that then there's still hope we could get new themes right? Bc new themes would be in a new version or patch or something like that and it would not be a major or big update so..

I hope they also add a background/foreground maker where you can place ground enemies ect in the background and foreground to ad extra astedic to your levels or use them to make a cool challenge room in your level!

All the night themes were: Planet, Space, Flipped, Jungle, Dark Sea, Dark House, Sandstorm, Spaceship, Ice, Sunken Castle
These are all great ideas.
Night Mode for each theme:
The Beach theme could have waves in the water. (Thanks Cmy Dagger)
The Volcano is easy. Either falling meteors or poison gas.
The Sewer would have its water in two states. You can set the red and blue states. It switches between these when an on/off switch is hit.
The Autumn theme could have trees in the foreground (You can edit where they are) to restrict player vision.
Finally, the Mountains would have Mario schimy on Semi-Solids (Did I spell that right?)
For the beach it would be waves

The cool thang is the sewer theme I made something like it I went to the forest theme in Mario bros 3 and had so much fun with it but I did kinda wish I could change the game style.
Also a space or rainbow road theme would be really cool.
I did not know that all of those mods were a set-up for this video.
There's already a volcano, beach, mountain and I think tower theme in Super Mario Construct.
if mountain has semi solids where spike balls/boulders can fall through, why not have quick sands in the desert to make them more unique (with the option to control the height of the sand, and if it rises or not. I would also make twisters behave differently depending on the fluid they are in, so they would become sand geysers in the quick sands, lava geyser in the lava and typhoon that sucks you downward in the water
Th outside ghost house and that special drawing-ish ghost theme in NSMBU would be nice too

What it does: Adds/removes/changes liquid on all themes
In both ground themes (day and night) there is only water poison and none
In the cave day theme there will be Water and lava
In the cave night them the button would be uh-available
In both the water themes (day and night) it would be disabled for obvious reasons
In the airship themes no button
In the Mountain theme (day) there would be all liquid options but poison
In the mountain night theme there is only none and poison
In all other themes all are available except poison in day and only poison at night, except for... The desert themes
Desert themes: no harmful liquid and no button at daytime
Desert night: Water or no liquids
I hope Nintendo adds a "Course Theme Expansion Pack DLC" where you can make levels with the themes in this video

On a related topic I would desperately want a Super Mario Land 2 style.
A lot of people want the Super Mario Bros. 2 style but I think if they added the Shy Guy enemy and turnip item you could basically remake SMB2 already.
Also the inferior Super Mario Land 1 is much more popular for some weird reason but basically being a SMB1 demake it would make no sense.
SML2 would be unique because Mario has the spinjump ability from SMW but the enemies behave like their SMB3 counterparts. And most importantly there's a counter that tells you how many enemies you have defeated and when you defeat 100 (or maybe you could change that number in the level's settings) a Super Star appears.
As powerups you have the Fire Flower (acting the same but adding a feather on Mario's cap) and the Bunny Carrot replacing the Super Leaf, and the Bubble replacing the P Balloon. Then maybe you'd also still have the Superball Flower and some other powerup not in the original.
The graphics would be kinda boring in monochrome so it would instead be recolored, but there'd now be a "black & white" special effect that can be applied to the whole level turning it into its original style and it would also work in other game styles turning SMB1 into SML1 graphics.

I had a really insane idea for Mario Maker 3. So know how Mario Maker is about mixing mechanics? What If you where able to mix tile sets, backgrounds, music, and stage hazards. For example; you could mix the desert tile set with the underground background to make a desert cave, the ground and airship tile sets with the night background to make a city, or mix the underground tile set with the night background and add the low gravity mechanic to create the moon. I also feel like this would make it easier for Nintendo because it would take less effort to create for themes. And that’s my idea for Mario Maker 3!
