@Scott The Fi-It Guy your videos are truly amazing... I just had to come back to comment... not sure which video it was where you showed how to manually unlock the washer... but that definitely did the trick... my boyfriend had tried to get it fixed by watching UA-cam videos but he was unsuccessful... I feel awesome that I was the one who fixed it (with your help) and didn't have to call in a Technician and it's working like normal now.. THANK YOU! I really appreciate you and all your informative videos! Merry Christmas to me... I'm from Trinidad and that would have cost a lot to get it checked by a technician.

I had been traveling for a month and my drain plugged and I quickly shut off the washer! Only to find out the door locked light was on. I turned off the power and went outside to mow the yard when I came back it I started the power, water drained and I started the rinse and spin. Thank you so much! You saved me at least $120. Blessing to you and God favor.

In my case, I first tried unplugging/replugging but only did it for a few seconds. After watching this video I left it unplugged for a couple minutes and that did the trick without having to worry about draining. I have a slightly different model. Thanks for the video!

What happened to me? Is exactly what happened to you. When I plugged it back in. It was making a noise still and red door locks still flashing. I followed everything that you did, but the only differences that your machine was not making a noise while this was happening. So I am stuck.

Thanks Scott! The manual was useless! I was thrown off by the fact that I had killed the power but not waited long enough for the capacitor to drain. Once I let it drain and flipped the power back on the pump discharged the water and I could open the door again.! You da man!

Thank you for the video, it gave me the incentive to tackle it myself. I did have to eventually remove the top and back of the washer, remove the drain hose completely to clean out soap slime and soap bubbles. I am also on a well so removed both hot and cold water hoses and cleaned out the small filter for those as well. Its all put back together and running like normal. Thank you again. Just as more incentive..I'm a 70 year old female. :>))

I have the same machine you have in the video. My door locks with error codes E01 and E03. My door locks before water is added, almost immediately after closing the door. If it's a suds problem, the suds are from the previous load ...which is possible I suppose. My door lock problem is usually solved by unplugging the machine, wait 15 seconds, plug it back in and the machine is good to go. Tonight, the restart trick did not work, even after half a dozen attempts. I found your video and minutes later I was back in business. Thanks Scott.

Great tip on removing the lid (farther down the comments). The release tab was easily spotted and the door popped open when I pulled on it. However, the unit did not immediately work after I plugged it back in. There was a SECRET tech service manual taped to the underside of the lid chock full of troubleshooting instructions and after a few failed attempts and the sinking feeling I’d have to buy a new washer, I came across a bland reference to turning the large setting knob. The unit sprang back to life!!! Winner!!!

Our door is locked won't open. We have unplugged many times for 5 minutes. Nothing works. No sounds of anything running. Drained the filter nothing in it. Ours is a GE freshvent. The display just has the word door scrolling across it. Anyone had this problem. We have watched multiple videos. Tried everything the manual says and nothing is working. My clothes are in washer for 2 days now. Ugh. My husband called GE and they can't send anyone because they don't have anyone in our area.

    Alternatively:
    1. Remove the 3 hex/torx combination screws in the top, rear side of the machine.
    2. Gently flex the lid upwards from the back of the machine, and push away to unclip.
    3. Look down from the top of the machine. There will be a round white piece of plastic sticking up from the top of the locking mechanism, directly behind the door handle. Pull and hold this plastic piece upward. With your other hand, pull the door open.
    4. You can now use the machine as normal.

I have run into this issue several times, and I have not once seen it get clogged. It has always been an issue of too many suds. And unfortunately once suds get to the overflow sensor, there is absolutely no way to reset it, except by manually opening the machine and starting a new cycle.

I heard sporadic beeping and found the washer appeared to be stuck on a drain cycle. The door was locked and flashing a code which went away before I noted exactly what code. I unplugged the machine and waited and came back to it and still was stuck on same cycle with door locked. Did that a couple more

times with out a change. Drained some stinky water out of drain hose and replugged machine . Still the same. Used a small wrench to remove hex head screws and lifted lid and unlocked the door and removed clothes. They were dry and had not been washed. ( there had been some near panic because my 16 yr old’s sports uniform was among the items held hostage in the overly loaded machine. ) We plugged machine in and draining sound continued and shut the door Re locking it , tried to change setting but big knob did not change anything so we got the troubleshooting manual from the lid and left it unplugged until another time until I could study the manual . What I learned from you helped us to retrieve the uniform so thanks. This story to be continued.

Well I looked up videos cause my washer would stop and drain and not open the door and read error and make the beeping noise every so often. I learned in video you can open the top but I didn’t do that just yet because it didn’t make sense to me when the washer is new the manufacturer is not gonna expect you to open if there’s a little problem, I will resort to that if desperate to take clothes out if nothing else works. But then I learned you can turn unplug machine for a while then plug in and it will let you open door. Did they but I continued to have locking issues afterward. Then I learned about factory reset by pressing buttons 123 123 123 which helped. But my problem is that it continues to stop and remain locked constantly more so than often. I saw on another video about tube drainage problems and the reason it locks is because it senses drainage problem, something obstructing the drainage tube and therefore locks to prevent reuse until that problem is fixed and of course to prevent water from spilling out when door is opened if it stopped mid way during cycle and didn’t drain properly. Makes sense and figured this is the problem that continues to lock my washer and will now be fixed once I clean it. Was happy however, I checked my tubes and everything is clean and perfectly fine! So HOW THE HELL am I left to wash with this new laundry when it continues to lock and stop during spin and drain cycle?!? 😭

Try using half as much detergent and you’ll have less bubbles and the problem will go away.

      Great question,
Can you unplug it and then remove the 3 screws from behind the upper panel and then push it back by 2 inches and lift off the panel.
Then reach in behind the door lock and lift up on the plastic tab and that will release the door.
Make sure all the water has drained out already 👍

Mine is exactly like yours & the fix didn't work for me. I hear the pump running, door is locked, & it will not drain. I might need to call someone, but I was hoping you can tell me what the model is? I think the model info is inside the door lol...

Also, is there an easy way to get to, & clean out the filter on this unit?

Can you unplug it, remove the top panel and then reach in behind the door lock and pull up on then pull up on the plastic tab to release the locked door, that will also reset the computer.

Worked like a charm. Any insights into what caused it? I see no clogs or kinks.

You can remove the top panel and reach down behind the door lock and pull up on the plastic manual door release tab.
      Make sure to unplug first.
